My college roommate used to play this soundtrack ALL THE TIME, I think this is why I can barely fathom this Lionel song. On the other hand I do LOVE two of the other songs on the soundtrack as exquisitely sung by Roberta Flack and Chaka Khan. Roberta's song is beautiful and understated while Chaka's is bold and bombastic. Love them both.

Dionne Warwick teamed up with Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Gladys Knight for this song to benefit AIDS prevention and research. Written and produced by Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager, it topped the charts in Australia and Canada. Stateside, it also hit #1 on the Hot 100 and AC charts, and was Billboard's Top Pop Single for 1986.

It was originally recorded by Rod Stewart in 1982 for the movie Night Shift.

I will say, with respect to Dionne and friends, that I think it would have been better off as a duet with one person of Dionne's choice. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
