Mariah has released the Oh Santa remix with Ariana & Jennifer Hudson. Not sure if it will chart given how Christmas songs are cannibalizing the charts more than ever, but it would be interesting if it did.

Not sure if it will chart given how Christmas songs are cannibalizing the charts more than ever, but it would be interesting if it did. Wouldn't that be a good thing for the song? Considering it's a Christmas song  But yes, it'll be lucky to scrape the Hot 100 most likely. This remix isn't anything spectacular and Ariana is barely that much on it for it to really even go viral or get a huge lift. People also overestimate Ariana's feature/collab power a bit. |

It's like random artists are collabing not bcoz they're perfect fit for the song but to attract demographics/regions/the artist's stans. If this ain't selling out i don't know what is.

Some are expecting Mariah & Company to go to #1. Pretty unrealistic. But honestly, the Mariah fans think that anytime she's suddenly announced a collab with a hot artist it's gonna be a comeback smash and other stans of veterans like Madonna do it too (Levitating remix, Medellin, Bitch I'm Madonna, etc). Truth is, they'll probably never get a real big smash hit ever again and that's okay. Even if a currently hotter artist is attached people just aren't really checking for their new music similarly which is inevitable after multiple decades of success. The only way those type of veterans will get another big hit more than likely is if they are sampled/interpolated/reworked in a song and get credited (Whitney x Kygo's Higher Love, Drake's Emotionless & Don't Matter to Me, etc type song). |
