I heard Wonder last week and was just thinking how Shawn is getting so stale and insipid, it seems I wasn't the only one, looking at these posts.
and it must be worrying for his team to see how fast Pop dropped Wonder and even more alarming, Hot AC.

Lol you're not gonna mention it got to #213 after vaulting 299 spots? I think 24KGoldn has a shot at mild pop stardom. "Mood" being massive provides a nice launchpad, and "Coco" has appeal at both pop & rhythmic and has a catchy hook + DaBaby, whose had multiple pop radio top 10s this year. If it can keep climbing on streaming, I see potential Even though i like his music since Valentino days i don't think he's reaching stardom. Just look at his social media accounts, #1 song in the country didn't propell him to even 10% of lil nas' following (which he got). Same goes with Iann dior, whom general rap audience treat as an industry plant. This is one of those cases where song's a hit but artist? not so much So, are we gonna have a 24kGoldn One-Hit Wonderland episode in 2033?

He's never gonna have another Mood but Lil Nas X will never have another Old Town Road. And he already had hits outside the U.S. He's going to have another hit, just meet likely not in the top 10 or Top 20

On the other news, dick downed in dallas is still #2 while shawn x camila is squirming around #20 on iTunes (~20ish on YT trending while YFN lucci is #8 after 2 days). Curr. Shawn's #2 on iTunes album chart below Carrie underwood's 2 month old album & #5 on applem album chart (falling) while YFN lucci is #2 strong 😅. 2020 is bonkers. Btw who dafu* is YFN lucci? 😂😂

personally, i dont find any sex appeal in Shawn Mendes, and sometimes when the music gets stale, you can at least fall back on your looks. Maybe this is his Witness era.

Shawn and Camila should just do a Netflix rom com together if their music is floundering this bad. Do a Weet Side Short musical, only this time the girl can't sing

wonder is not bad. There are some really good tracks. I don’t think he should go the JT route tho. He’s always been suited for more of a John Mayer like trajectory, don’t we think?

Megan’s “Body” is getting a lot of noise, any chances it will be in the top 10 this week after debuting at #12? I noticed its streams are steadily increasing too.

I think the problem with Shawn’s image is that he (or his team/label, let’s be real) seems to want him to be taken seriously as an artist but doesn’t seem willing or able to do anything that would get him there. And maybe he’s not at that point yet where he could get there. As nice a guy as he seems, his relationship with Camila might be the most exciting or interesting experience of his life and all he really has to pull inspiration from to write about - only, who cares? I get the impression he’s probably not particularly assertive as pop stars go so he might not be in control of a lot of what he does. I feel like if this era flops, his next one might be a rebrand of him that might be the predictable sexy/grown-up era everyone seems to want/expect. Only, I wonder if he could pull that off either.

I just hope that "Oh Santa" doesn't enter the Hot 100 because I'm satisfied that it peaked at #100, making it for me the most famous song that peaked at #100 on Hot 100. And not all artist have a song (or a Christmas song) peaking at #1 and #100. Boss Btch peaked at #100 too and is fighting for most famous song that peaked at #100

I feel like if this era flops, his next one might be a rebrand of him that might be the predictable sexy/grown-up era everyone seems to want/expect. Only, I wonder if he could pull that off either. I think it also has to do with the fact it's been 6 years since he got big and there's been no discernable change in sound or even voice. Using Bieber as an example, whether you like the music or not - his sound and voice has changed over the past few years. And yeah, he still has no personality or charisma but at least up until Changes, individual albums sounded different from each other. And Mendes isn't in an Adele mold where his instrumentation, writing, or voice is so unique that it's awkward whenever he goes out of his comfort zone. Who is Shawn Mendes beyond a hot guy who plays love songs on his guitar?

The 24k/DaBaby track is #213 on AM according to Kworb so obviously no one is interested in 24k in larger scale. Lol you're not gonna mention it got to #213 after vaulting 299 spots? I just saw that Marvin Divide song pop off on Spotify, is this a bought streams thing, because it seems like both something that came from nowhere and something that would only be popular in Canada. It’s just a Loud Luxury rip-off except with some kind of creepy sub text.

SORRY FOR THIS RANDOM POST, I JUST NEEDED TO ASK THIS:
Does anyone know a site where I can track the total streams of an artist on Spotify? Chartmasters.org Spotify streaming tool was the one I used before but now it has subscriptions, and I need to pay to see it. It's like nothing is free nowadays. Thank you.

I think Shawn is struggling because the music is bad this time around. The idea that there is only enough airplay for one white guy and Harry stole it this year is the same argument that people try to make about Cardi taking Nicki's place and imo it's just not true. There are other reasons. Well and that argument holds more weight with black women than with white men. There is always room for more than one white man. (I'm not saying I like it, just reporting reality.)

(I'm not saying I like it, just reporting reality.) I mean racism and sexism are real but the notion that Cardi killed Nicki's solo hitmaker days has always been weird to me when in reality it was just a combination of Nicki being 10+ years into her career, abandoning the more pop friendly sound she used to have and her audience not quite moving from iTunes to streaming. Cardi and Megan have done well this year without hurting each other's success and you could even throw Doja although her big major hit is... a pop song so maybe put her in with an asterisk. I don't think people suddenly see one black female rapper and decide that's enough. Same with white pop guys. Ed, Lewis Capaldi, Bieber, Shawn all had top three hits last year, and Harry debuted a big #1 album on his way to two radio hits. Shawn just happens to have the least interesting narrative of them all, and he ditched the pop friendly upbeat sound for "In my Blood" stuff but forgetting everything that made that one work at all.

Nicki has constantly been among the top 10 most streamed female artists on Spotify - mostly thanks to features (especially Tusa but regardless.)

Yeah I'm not saying she's struggling per se, just that she's nowhere near the level of domination she had (which is relatively normal for anyone who's been a successful hitmaker for so long). But I do remember people saying Cardi "killed" her solo career and it's always been a stupid narrative imo.
