Wasnβt expecting those emotions to come up. I legit heard βTim McGraw,β the day it was released. I belonged to a message board called McGraws.com (fans of Tim and Faith) and I remember there was a thread about her song since it was about Tim. We all were expecting it to be dumb and corny. And I listened and loved it. Legit loved it the first 30 seconds. I was still in college at that time and remember a couple months after hearing that I found a few leaked songs on Kazaa (Iβm really aging myself here). Canβt remember all of them but it was only a couple and I remember βPicture To Burn,β for sure. Long story short the day before the album was released I heard, βMaryβs Songβ and decided to buy the album at midnight on iTunes. I was studying for a test and kind of did it on a whim. To this day I feel like I was legit one of the first people to buy her album. This brought back so many memories (I know this song is from her next era but the feels still got me). I joined Pulse shortly before, βLove Story,β was released - in fact, I remember a poster here talking about the filming of the video long before it was even released. Itβs been cool to see her go from those never ending autograph sessions to the global superstar she is today. Sorry for rambling on but thatβs my Taylor story. Forgot to add, I remember a poster on mcgraws showed us a screen grab of Taylor thanking her for listening to her music on her MYSPACE lmao.

For those of us with personal charts that date back to the original Love Story, will you be charting the new version and if so, will you count it as a separate entry or continuing from its original run? (If you charted it then) "Love Story" was a bit too old but everything from "You Belong With Me" onwards I did chart and I'm still undecided about what to do when the rest of the re-recordings come out...

(If you charted it then) I will use the original on my chart as a way to keep all the song's points in a single entry. Let's be honest this is not that different from an acoustic/remix, and I chart all of those under the original too.

Iβve always counted remixes as the same, even if they included new featured guests. The first instance that became challenging for me was the DaBaby remix of Levitating because I charted Madonna/Missy remix already and combining them didnβt seem right to me - but I did. Now with over a decade since this charted Iβm less certain if I want it to continue the original run or not...

I haven't been charting my songs for over a decade, but there have been instances already on my own chart of an artist re-releasing a song and I charted it as a new release. With "Love Story" being re-recorded and counting as a separate run on official charts, I feel justified in charting it (and all of the re-releases) as if it were a brand new song.

December 14 Spotify streams for the songs on all her albums. It's really impressive how she has so many songs from so many different albums doing great streams. Even 30,000 per day is pretty good (there's singles many pop fans would consider classics from the 80s-00s doing 30,000/day).

βIβm like the water when your ship rolled in that night / Rough in the surface, but you cut through like a knifeβ
This is just such a FIRE opening lyric, and PUNCHES on the Elvira remix. I really think itβs one of the reasons Willow is so good.

December 14 Spotify streams for the songs on all her albums Thank you for doing this!! I have a Notes app file with all the songs by all-time plays, so itβll be interesting to compare that to single-day plays... It is SHOCKING to me that the least-played track thatβs NOT a bonus track and NOT from her debut album is βInnocent.β βOur Songβ is on the cusp of 100mm, which will mean she has at least one song past that milestone from each of her 9 albums

"Innocent" deserves that. It's crap.
Say what you will about the Kanye feud but the "Famous" chapter brought much better music than the initial VMA incident.

"Innocent" deserves that. It's crap. Wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days? Always a bigger bed to crawl into. Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything, and everybody believed in you?

I saw that too. I didnβt look into it under the assumption/hope other retailers might get it too, particularly in Canada. I did manage to get Folklore vinyl from the Uk through Amazon (due to arrive any day now)

Folklore is my favourite of the bunch but I hope it doesnβt win AOTY. The backlash that would ensue - and it wouldnβt even be her fault. Though maybe Iβm overreacting.

The record will ship on May 28th and is mighty expensive, but it might be our only option until it's restocked on Taylor's store. cc: Taylor.

The predictions I have seen all have Taylor taking AOTY. I think it will kind of be a shock if she didn't win it, which very well could happen too. Who knows. The *only* reason I wouldn't want her to take it would be due to ridiculous and unfounded backlash from haters, but it absolutely deserves the win if we are talking quality and performance. That's pretty much indisputable in my eyes. Either way I hope she snags a few.

Folklore deviates from a lot of other current popular music which I think makes it stand out the most. Taylor took a risk and it paid-off. It brought indie music (or whatever genre you want to classify it as) to the main stage and hopefully people check out artists of similar sounding albums. I hope it wins tonight.

I don't think people care that much outside the stan world. In most cases but the amount of attention the Grammys and some of the winners have gotten in recent years, plus the discussion it generates, it can take a life of its own beyond stan social media. For all the ills people have against Macklemore, I still feel like his Grammy wins over Kendrick is one of the biggest points against him now years later. The one thing not working against Taylor now is that there isnβt a clear favourite that, if it lost to her, would be a strike against her. So maybe I am overreacting to folklore winning being a bad thing. I guess weβll see either way.

Although folklore is my fav of the nominees, I don't want it to win just to avoid the backlash. I don't even want to think about how her speech will be scrutinized or what she might even say to justify her win (I still cringe when I think of her 1989 AOTY speech). Taylor already has two AOTY trophies, so we can never say she's been snubbed by the Recording Academy; I'm hoping Dua somehow pulls off the win since her album is just ranked right under Taylor's for me.

So maybe I am overreacting to folklore winning being a bad thing. I guess weβll see either way. I feel like 1989 winning over TPAB didn't generate much lasting backlash towards Taylor though? Like yeah, plenty of people thought TPAB should've won but I don't think they held that against Taylor as much as the Grammys. And Folklore winning over FN would be much much less contentious imo. Pretty sure a lot of the problem with Macklemore was that Macklemore and Kendrick were kind of in the same lane (conscious hip hop) but GKMC was the album that people latched onto far more as the album that represented the social situation of the time, and even music critics greatly preferred it, so people were understandably resentful at what felt like racial bias from the Grammy voters. With Taylor and Dua's albums, it's not like one is an inferior version of the other, they're both in pretty different lanes, so they're pretty hard to compare. And they were both commercial and critical successes, both albums managed to tie into the pandemic narrative (one reflects the loneliness and isolation, the other escaping that loneliness with dance music), and they're both by white women. I mean it's not like Folklore winning would be a huge upset, plenty of people are predicting that's exactly what will happen.
