Does anyone else find it off that My Only Wish by Britney doesnβt perform well?! Like I never even heard some of the newer (2000-) Xmas songs yet on the radio or in stores. It's performing well worldwide. It's a HIT in Norway. It was #171 (+10) yesterday on Spotify Worlwide Global. The song has 144 millions streams without its performer once evoking it publicly and with an old holiday music compilation cover as official artwork during more than 10 years ...

Wondering if Taylor will have another real hit yet. I dont think Taylor is trying to write hits working with The National and Bon Iver. But she is not stupid, if a remix can help willow go #1 she will go for it

Well i put them on google Drive you can dl them. I don't know much about javascript, but: ..... There is a problem with putting code in spoilers so i sent you a dm.

That makes sense, jeng- though when HITS wrote about the soundtrack album and Merry Christmas sharing tracks in common and the bigger seller getting the streaming points, it made me wonder. HITS may have different rules. It won't work that way for the Billboard 200. The soundtrack will chart (or not) as its own album. In theory, though. Who knows what Billboard might do.

How about we get a remix to βRockin Around The Christmas Treeβ feat. Mariah Carey. Brenda Lee can finally get her #1 and Mariah can nab her 20th #1. This would be something great for both of their teams to think of in coming years.

^Like "Oh Santa!" it would probably count separately from the original hit version. :)

^Like "Oh Santa!" it would probably count separately from the original hit version. I don't understand why Billboard is treating this newer version of Oh Santa! (as well as the new mix of AIWFCIY) from the TV special as separate tracks? I listened to both, and they are just remixes in the same vein as Savage, Say So, Dynamite, or countless other remixed songs and last-minute artist tack-ons in order to boost chart placement. The lyrics/melodies/instrumentals aren't significantly different to warrant it as a "separate" song (so in the same fashion, a hypothetical remix of RATCT with Mariah wouldn't chart separately unless it were dramatically altered). It seems like an arbitrary decision by Billboard, or something that the labels and/or artists would have pushed, which seems like it could both help and hurt them, as it would take away points for a higher position, but it would guarantee credit for Ariana and J. Hud if their version didn't outperform the original.

^Perhaps the label requested as much. Also, the original Neither AIWFCIY or OS is a current/recent release, which could push the decision in the direction of counting them separately.

Hud if their version didn't outperform the original. I think it has to do with the time that has passed since the original versions. These aren't remixes of a 'current' song. If The Weeknd recorded a new version of "Earned It" it would be seen as a new single, whereas because "Blinding Lights" is still current a remix is still counted with it.

So we talk about Oh Santa remix vs original.
In case, back in 2011, old Xmas songs were allowed to chart on Hot 100, would Billboard combine All I Want For Xmas Is You (Bieber duet) with original version???
Because Bieber duet charted as a new Hot 100 entry for Mariah.

Just my two cents... I think maybe because Bieber's AIWFCIY (feat. Mariah) is not a remix but considered as a cover version? It's like "The Only Exception" by Glee will not be combined to "The Only Exception" by Paramore.
The Only Exception was the example I used because I remember Glee's version and Paramore's orig version charting simultaneously and separately on the same wk on Hot 100.

Bieberβs the lead act credited, so itβs totally a cover version, albeit one involving the original artist. Agreed

What is a relatively recent example of a remix that was made and impacted years after the original that was then combined with the original version for chart purposes? Yeah, if Kygo and Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It" remix had charted on the Hot 100 (did it make Bubbling Under?) I'm pretty sure it would have counted as a new entry for Tina and not as a re-entry of the original song.

Although I guess thatβs also a cover and a case where Whitneyβs original version didnβt chart? Either way I agree that the Kygo version of Whatβs Love Got To Do With It would probably have been counted as a new entry (it got all the way to number 1 on the Bubbling Under btw).

Yeah the original Higher Love was by Steve Winwood. Whitney's version had never previously been released in the US so it was new either way.
