I see "Mercury Blues" and "She's Got the Rhythm (and I Got the Blues)" being polarizing enough to leave soon.I hope "Tonight I Climbed the Wall" can make the top two, but I have a feeling it do-si-do'ed with "(Who Says) You Can't Have It All". I thought the same thing, but then he said the two most polarizing songs of the rankdown are the top 2... Which means that the more polarizing songs are going to do the best somehow... Still feel good about "Chattahoochee" being the winner, but could something like "Mercury" last all the way to the top 2?!?! It'll be weird to me if one of the ballads is more polarizing than "Mercury", but it will also be weird to me if "Mercury" makes the top 2... Lol.

My prediction. - MB is high only cuz I think it would be the most polarizing. - I don't know how Chattahoochee can be polarizing though, it's AJ's signature. - the Rhythm is the weakest single, and thus, should leave first.
1. Chattahoochee 2. Mercury Blues 3. (Who Says) You Canโt Have It All 4. Tonight I Climbed the Wall 5. Sheโs Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)
Edit: Oops already wrong...

Well this is disappointing. The way he BELTS out the chorus of this one makes me so happy! It is a very hard song to sing, with how the melody bounces around in the chorus, and yet he does it so well! Add this to the giant pile of songs that can be filed under "the modern superstars wouldn't be able to do it nearly as well".

Released as the fifth and final single from the album, โ(Who Says) You Canโt Have It Allโ becomes the first single to exit which is opposite from Alan's singles rankdown as this was the second single to leave. As I mentioned above, it just barely got in by a hair as "Tropical Depression" was the most competitive album track to almost make it in. This was also predicted by both Kanenrรก:ke and bboat11 to be one of the two highest placing album tracks, so I'm sure this comes as a surprise to not just them but a handful of others especially considering the quadruple top 2 rankings it received. This was a solid top 3 competitor early on but only slid back as it picked up the first of two bottom 3 rankings from .indulgecountry and taylor is terrified.

โMercury Bluesโ is the next single to leave which is a changeup from Alan's singles rankdown as this was in fact the first single from the album to exit. This was a solid top 5 contender for its entire run as that is just where the majority of the participants ranked it. Included in that is a #1 from taylor is terrified who is only our second participant to lose their top-ranking song. Aside from two other rankings just shy of a top 5, this did pick up a pair of bottom 2 rankings from castleoblivion26 and Kanenrรก:ke.

Coming up next is the song that slid back one spot at the last minute only to miss the top 2 by a mere four points! What could it be?!

Mercury Blues is kinda catchy, but the chorus melody is kinda weak. If I didn't hear this so much for line dancing, this would have been even lower.

Well this is just plain not going well! Neither "Rhythm" or "Wall" are great enough to deserve RotB over "Mercury" and "Who Says".

Okay, this is the best possible outcome considering what was left.
I do like "She's Got The Rhythm" a lot, but it's by far my least favorite of the singles. "Least Favorite" was still enough to put it ahead of all of the album tracks except one on my list though, lol. Not disappointed to see it do well, but I am definitely shocked that that was a consistent top 2 contender!
"Tonight I Climbed The Wall" is totally the forgotten hit from this album, so that's the biggest reason why I am shocked that it is still in. Like, has this even been played on the radio once since it went recurrent?! It's totally pulling an "If My Heart Had Wings" here by still being in just for having less of a target on its back, just like I said might happen in my predictions! Lmao
Although I do still think "Chattahoochee" has this in the bag.

"She's Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)" bows out next which is a bit unfortunate considering that it was such a solid top 2 contender for the majority of its run. It's especially frustrating to see this happen when it's always the last minute list that changes up the results lol! This was released as the lead single from the album and was in fact co-written by both Alan and Randy Travis while they were on tour together in 1991. I went back and forth as to which song to put at the top of my list as this was initially my top-ranking song. In the end though I placed this in my top 2 where I was joined by castleoblivion26, Cody Wants Out..., and ClevelandRox. This clocked in as our third least polarizing song thanks in part to the majority of the group placing this somewhere within their top 5, although it did receive a lone bottom 3 ranking from ๐บCountryLineDancer.

To no one's surprise, โChattahoocheeโ comes out on top which again shouldn't come as much of a shock to anyone considering that it was the #6 song in Alan's singles rankdown. What might have come as a surprise though is to see โTonight I Climbed the Wallโ make the top 2! While it may not have been a contender during the course of its run, it did pick up a lot of support including four #1 rankings from myself, tim, gardyfan, .indulgecountry, Kanenrรก:ke as well as a pair of top 2 rankings. In fact, the majority of the participants placed it somewhere within their top 5 so the only reason it came out as the second most polarizing song is most likely due to a last place from someguy (who is also the only one to put this down in their bottom 3). That said, โChattahoocheeโ was the clear frontrunner as once it reached the top position it never left. It racked up an impression NINE #1 rankings with only two participants even daring to put this outside of their top 5 (oh, and yes that does include a last place from .indulgecountry). Having grown up with this song on country radio since its release, I can safely say it is also one of the most overplayed songs from the 90s to my ears hence my reason for putting this at the lower end of my top 5. There's no denying though that this is not only one of Alan's signature hits but one of the most quintessential 90s country songs!

Hmm, I forgot that "Tonight I Climbed The Wall" nearly made the top 20 of the singles rd, and was the second-highest single from this album. It's just such a forgotten hit, apparently I go out of my way to forget about it every chance I can ๐ But the way that belted chorus soars, similar to "Who Says", definitely fills me with warmth every time I hear it. Alan really has a perfect voice for those soaring melodies!
"Chattahoochee" is the ONLY winner that makes sense though, lol. Songs like "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow", "Don't Rock The Jukebox", etc. gave him a strong start to his career, but THIS song is undoubtedly the reason he blew up and became the multi-decade superstar that he became! It is catchy af, and I literally never get tired of it despite the massive overplay that it has received for literally my entire life. It's one of those genre-defining hits. Glad to see it win!!

Lmao I honestly can't remember the last time I heard it! My top ranking for it is likely in part to that though as both "Sheโs Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues)" and "Chattahoochee" are certainly two of the songs from the album that have received a lot of airplay over the years. I also just can't get enough of that steel guitar

Not that it even mattered, but sorry not sorry, I think "Chattahoochee" is an annoying song, made worse by overplay. I love "Wall" though and would have loved for it to upset here, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
I'll get my Freight Train list in asap!
