This should come as no surprise as many of you had predicted "She Don't Get the Blues" would either leave first or within' the bottom 3. We also lose our least polarizing song right out of the gate! Despite its initial top 6 showing, this quickly fell back into the bottom 2 before settling into last place for the last half of the rankdown. This picked up five last place rankings including from myself as this is probably one of the few album tracks I skip over from what is an otherwise great album.

I could see it coming from a mile away A heartache lookin' for a place to stay But I couldn't resist her and I couldn't be cool Lord can't a woman make a man a fool
I was drunk and crazy from her sweet perfume But I knew stone sober I was being used Now the heartache lingers like a cheap cologne She took all she wanted then she was gone 9. “Short Sweet Ride” Track: #10 Songwriters: Alan Jackson, Jim McBride Total: 93 Average: 7.15 Std Dev: 2.19 (4th Lowest) {Songs Remaining}Ace of Hearts Blue Blooded Woman Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow Dog River Blues Here In the Real World Home I’d Love You All Over Again Wanted

"Short Sweet Ride" was also predicted to exit somewhere within the bottom 3 and that prediction proved true yet again. This is our first song to see multiple top 5 losses from taylor is terrified, bboat11, and Cody Wants Out.... The majority of the group however put this down in their bottom 3 including a last place from gardyfan. Unlike the previous song, this is one that I never skip over should I put the album on. That said, it's a tall order to overcome given the strength of the rest of the album. Most of you agreed as once this settled back into the bottom 2 it was never able to gain enough traction to escape.

Love's a gamble every heart will take You roll the dice in hopes that it won't break One night I bet on your blue eyes and took a chance And won a whole lot more than one night of romance
Love's a numbered wheel you have to spin There's no need for me to spin again Cause loving you is paying off more than I knew I took a little risk and hit it big with you 8. “Ace of Hearts” Track: #1 Songwriters: Carson Chamberlain, Ron Moore, Lonnie Wilson Total: 85 Average: 6.54 Std Dev: 2.44 (5th Highest) {Songs Remaining}Blue Blooded Woman Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow Dog River Blues Here In the Real World Home I’d Love You All Over Again Wanted

Much to .indulgecountry's disappointment, "Ace of Hearts" bows out in the bottom 3. This started out as a top 5 contender though as it gained quite a bit of early support including two top 2 rankings from Kanenrá:ke and .indulgecountry. It ended up falling back towards the last half of the rankdown as it picked up its first of four bottom 2 rankings. I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed to see this wasn't better received amongst the group because I've always thought of it as one of this albums best tracks. Irregardless, this officially becomes the first song in Alan's album tracks rankdown!

Well I first kissed you on a hollow log Down by the river they call the Dog We fell in love and we vowed that day Like the flow of the river our love won't change Well we married that spring and we built a house On the bank of the river where the rock juts out Now the river's still here but you've long gone You left me and the river here all alone 7. “Dog River Blues” Track: #8 Songwriters: Alan Jackson Total: 81 Average: 6.23 Std Dev: 2.65 (3rd Highest) {Songs Remaining}Blue Blooded Woman Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow Here In the Real World Home I’d Love You All Over Again Wanted

Everyone was pretty much in agreement that "Dog River Blues" would fall somewhere within the bottom 3 and I'm glad to say that it was able to escape such a fate! This has long been a favorite track of mine and one that I revisit frequently to this day. Thanks to the initial support from myself and Kanenrá:ke, this was an early top 5 contender. It began to slide back some as it picked up its first of four bottom 5 rankings including a last place from castleoblivion26. It was given a lifeline from someguy who put this in his top 2 which would allow this to jump back into the top 5 towards the end. That wouldn't last though as it picked up two additional last place rankings from Kris Kringle and Cody Wants Out.... This leave us down to the albums five singles which would later be joined by "Home", so "Dog River Blues" joins "Ace of Hearts" as the two songs being the first to make it into Alan's album tracks rankdown!

That's disappointing. I found that (for the most part) the album tracks were much stronger than the singles on this album (outside of a couple).

Alrighties, I'm feeling a bit anxious that we might lose power at some point this evening so I want to go ahead and dive into the top 5. Without further ado, here is the song to just miss the mark.

Alan's first number one song, "I'd Love You All Over Again", exits just before the top 5 and is the first of the five singles to bow out. Coming in as the fourth most polarizing song, this actually was the second single from the album to leave in Alan's singles rankdown whereas now it's the first. This initially climbed all the way up into the top 5 as it picked up a pair of top 3s from castleoblivion26 and ClevelandRox, however it steadily began to dip further back as it got hit with its first last place ranking. It even dipped back into the bottom 3 as it picked up its second last place ranking from .indulgecountry, but the final two lists that came in gave this just enough edge to climb out of that.

Normally I'd take a short break before diving into the top 5, but as I mentioned above I'm not sure if I'll have power for the rest of the night so I'm going to try and push through a bit further.

Alan's debut single "Blue Blooded Woman" exits first within the top 5 and is tied for being one of the most polarizing songs of the rankdown! Whereas "I'd Love You All Over Again" was the second of the five singles to exit in Alan's singles rankdown, this was actually the first of those to leave. It comes out slightly ahead here although not by much as only six points separated the two songs. Other than this being a polarizing song, I wasn't too sure of what to expect as I wouldn't have guessed this to make the top 5. It initially started way down in last place as Kanenrá:ke finds himself as the solo participant to put this there, but he was joined by two others who would put this in their bottom 2. It was able to pick up quite a bit of support though as eight participants put this in their top 5 including two top 2s from myself and bboat11. It all but settled comfortably into the top 5 until a small hiccup came in the way of kw9461's bottom 3, however taylor is terrified's final top 5 helped push this back in.

The albums third single "Wanted" is next to leave and comes in as our second least polarizing song. This remained a solid top 4 contender for its entire run and looked as though it would find itself in the top 3, however it got weighted down some by two lone bottom 5s from taylor is terrified and someguy. The majority of the participants put this somewhere within their top 5 including a top 2 from Cody Wants Out....

We've made it all the way to the top 3 before anyone lost their top ranking song. That changes next as our first number one loss of the rankdown departs just shy of the top 2

It would've been nice to see this one in the Top 2 but I knew the Top 2 as it is was likely so a Top 3 finish is not upsetting!

Coming in as our third least polarizing song, "Home" leaves us just before the top 2 and with it Cody Wants Out... becomes our first participant to lose their top ranking song. This only dipped outside of the top 3 once thanks to its only bottom 3 ranking from yours truly. The majority of the group put this somewhere within their top 5 including a top 3 and a pair of top 2s from kw9461 and taylor is terrified. This very likely would've been a single from the album if it had not been for a new artist on the scene at the time named Joe Diffie. His debut single of the same name would climb all the way to number one on the country charts. Alan loved the song so much that he would later include it on his first greatest hits compilation, The Greatest Hits Collection, and followed up by releasing it as the albums third single in the spring of 1996.

Daddy won a radio, He tuned it to a country show I was rocking in the cradle to the crying of a steel guitar Mama used to sing to me, She taught me that sweet harmony Now she worries cause she never thought I'd ever really take it this far Singing in the bars
Now daddy's got a radio, He won it thirty years ago He said son I just know we're going to hear you singing on it some day I made it up to Music Row Lordy, don't the wheels turn slow Still I wouldn't trade a minute, I wouldn't have it any other way Just show me to the stage 1. “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow” Track: #5 Songwriters: Alan Jackson, Jim McBride Released: September 1990 Billboard Peak Country Chart Position: #2 Placement in Singles Rankdown: #3 out of 65 Total: 28 Average: 2.15 Std Dev: 2.30 (5th Lowest)

There we have it folks! Both of these two songs were vying for the top spot with "Here in the Real World" being the early frontrunner. It picked up ten top 5 rankings including four top 2s and two #1s from Kanenrá:ke and .indulgecountry. Once this dipped back into the top 2 it was never quite able to recover from the lone last place ranking from someguy along with another bottom 3 from bboat11. This in turn was tied with "Blue Blooded Woman" as the two most polarizing songs of the rankdown. "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow" started out of the gate down in the bottom 4 thanks to Kanenrá:ke being our first participant, but it quickly rose into the top 2 before comfortably settling in at the top spot. This picked up one other top 5 with everyone else (that's TEN participants!) putting this as their #1 song!!! I'm thrilled to see this song come out ahead especially after it had to settle for a top 3 showing in Alan's singles rankdown.

The outcome I was hoping for! It may have been a predictable outcome but it was really the only correct one imo. This is such an iconic song and I'm glad to see it join the hall of rankdown winners!
