I never got to comment on the last album, but it was basically completely as I expected. The only surprise for me was seeing "I'll Go On Loving You" do better than "Right On The Money", but that's mostly just because Pulse has always been pretty vocal about finding the talking verses to be cringeworthy, while "Money" is probably the most unescapable radio hit of this era. "Little Man" and "Gone Crazy" were the obvious top 2 here, with "Little Man" being the obvious winner, so really it all ended up being pretty obvious. Very deservedly so, though! "Little Man" is thematically a little too close to "boo hoo modern society is so bad" on paper, but the finished product does not sound whiny in the slightest, and that melody is absolutely killler!

I'm not going to do any pre-reveal questions for this album, so feel free to post any of your thoughts or predictions before the reveals start!

I think this is probably "It Must Be Love"'s to lose!! "The Blues Man" deserves to contend as well, but it is likely to pick up a few tankers, so hopefully it at least manages to be in the top 5... I could see "Kiss An Angel Good Morning" and "Right In The Palm Of Your Hand" being strong top 5 contenders as well. Alongside "Pop A Top", of course.

"Revenooer Man" will probably be most polarizing, and "It Must Be Love" the least.

I agree with everything bboat11 said. I'm rooting for an upset with the fantastic "The Blues Man" winning but I"m not holding my breath as I definitely see it being tanked and "It Must Be Love" being #1.

I believe the top two will be "It Must Be Love" and "Pop a Top", as it should be. "The Blues Man" might make the top five, but I'm not too sure despite it growing on me a little bit.

Lots of great album tracks here: "Kiss an Angel Good Mornin'", "Right in the Palm of You Hand", "She Just Started Liking Cheatin' Songs", "My Own Kind of Hat" (I could be a little partial to that though )...

Last place...eh, not sure what it'll go to, but "The Way I Am" or "Once You've Had the Best" seem pretty likely. "Margaritaville" could end up doing poorly too because of, you guessed it, Jimmy Buffett.

While "Once You've Had the Best" was originally recorded by Johnny Paycheck, it is best remembered for the rendition recorded by George Jones, who scored a #3 hit with it in late 1973. This was always on track to finish in the bottom two as it traded places with a few other songs over the course of its run for last place. Speaking of, both George Strait Junkie and someguy lose their last place song right out of the gate while gardyfan succumbs to a top two loss.

I'm personally partial to the version by George Jones myself and I never really find myself revisiting Alan's rendition.

"My Own Kind of Hat" was originally co-written and recorded by Merle Haggard who released in September 1979 and reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Despite starting out in last place, this quickly jumped into the top 10 as it picked up its first top 5 from Cody Wants Out... as well as a near top 5 from Kanenrá:ke. While it settled back a bit from there during the middle part of its run, it was able to rebound slightly back to its highest ranking position as additional top 5 rankings rolled in from both gardyfan and @countryyouttuber. And just like that it fell right back down into the bottom two as it picked up two additional last place rankings from .indulgecountry and Kris Kringle.

This is another song that more often then not tend to skip over whenever I revisit the album. That said, I do like Alan's version compared to Merle's original.

Once You've Had The Best (Jones version) is right up there for me with He Stopped Loving Her Today as one of the greatest songs ever. AJ knocked it out of the park too, altjhough he did with every song on the album. Bummed to see it get tanked so hard here.

“Revenooer Man” is our second song to be written by Johnny Paycheck and then also recorded by George Jones in 1963. This came in as one of the more polarizing songs as it picked up five bottom 3 rankings. Unfortunately for George Strait Junkie he becomes the first participant who departs with his #1 song with only kw9461 joining him in the top 5. While this did manage to sneak up into the middle of the top 10, it would mostly remain a bottom 3 contender over the course of its run.

I'm not entirely surprised that this ended up being a tad bit on the polarizing side myself. And while I don't necessarily enjoy the song as much as I used to, it admittedly was a jam of mine back in the day!

"Farewell Party" was originally written by Lawton Williams and recorded in 1960. Other artists would go on to cover the song as well including Little Jimmy Dickens, Johnny Bush and Waylon Jennings, as well as Gene Watson. Watson's cover was released in February 1979 and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart. Unlike the song it was tied with, this mostly spent its time somewhere in the middle of the top 10 as the majority of the rankings were placed there. This did momentarily slip back into the bottom 2 though as it picked up a second last place ranking from kw9461 who was joined there earlier by ClevelandRox. Two participants lose a top 5 including gardyfan and Kanenrá:ke who actually loses a top 3.

This was one of the harder songs for me to rank personally as I never am quite in the mood to listen to it. It's still a great song though and Alan does a great job with it.

Oh, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that while Merle's original version of "The Way I Am" is a classic and Alan's cover is solid, my favorite recording of it actually belongs to Cody Jinks who recorded the song for his 2016 album I'm Not the Devil.

And this question is for the likes of gardyfan, Kanenrá:ke and George Strait Junkie who may be the only few familiar with the artist, but is it just me or isn't there a striking resemblance to “Revenooer Man” and Junior Brown's "Highway Patrol"?! It only dawned on me recently that the two seem to be quite similar.
