I'm thrilled to see “Wait a Minute” make it into the top 5 as it mostly found itself just outside if that for the better part of its run. It managed to sneak in towards the end, though, thanks in part to a top 2 ranking from 🌺CountryLineDancer as well as a pair of near top 5s. While this did manage to pick up a lone bottom 3, everyone else actually placed this within their top 8!

The exit of “The Firefly’s Song” takes not one but two #1 rankings from both Kanenrá:ke and 🌺CountryLineDancer who also just happened to lose their runner-up. While this did manage to pick up a pair of bottom 3 rankings in the last half from gardyfan and .indulgecountry, the early support it received softened that blow as it was able to recover in the final moments with a top 2 ranking from Cody Wants Out.... That said, this still clocked in as the second most polarizing song!

I would like to see "Nobody Said That It Would Be Easy" in the top 2 but I do love all 3. I would love to see the title track be #1 however!

The albums title track and lead single bows out two points shy of the top 2 where it spent the majority of its run. That came to a bitter end, however, in the final moments when a lone bottom 3 and last place ranking from .indulgecountry sent this outside of that. In fact, only two other participants placed this out of their top 5 which in turn made this the most polarizing from the album. Three of those top 5 rankings were in the form of a #1 from myself, castleoblivion26, and gardyfan followed by Kanenrá:ke who put it in his runner-up position. Looking back at Alan's artist rankdown, this finished only 11 points behind "A Woman's Love" as they were only separated by a few positions there. I'm definitely disappointed to see this get regulated to a top 3 finish considering that it was such a strong contender for the majority of its run.

Just like the previous album, we're down to one single vs. an album track! What will it be for the win?!

And there we have it folks! “Nobody Said That It Would Be Easy” was able to jump ahead of the title track in the final moments and come to a rest as the runner-up. It accumulated a total of six top 5 rankings which included a #1 from bboat11 as well as a pair of #2s from both castleoblivion26 and someguy . Alan stated in a previous interview that this was one of his favorite songs from the album, so it seems y'all were in agreement! While it would look as though “A Woman’s Love" was the runaway winner based on the overall points, it in fact played second fiddle to the title track for the better part of its run and would only be able to leap over that due in part to that last place ranking from .indulgecountry for "Like Red on a Rose". Even still, all but one participant placed it outside of their top 5 which makes this song worthy of its finish at the top. That included a pair of top 2s from bboat11 and gardyfan along with two #1s and a perfect ranking for someguy and Cody Wants Out... ...congrats y'all! In regards to the the making of the album, some of y'all might be surprised to learn that Alan had initially been in discussion with Alison Krauss about making a bluegrass record. She had a different vision, though, and approached the production of this record in a much different way with the end result being more along the lines of adult contemporary. Alison not only produced the album, but she also selected each and every song for it and brought along some of the members from her band Union Station including Jerry Douglas and Ron Block. I must say that after having revisited this album years later, I've warmed up to it quite a bit and certainly can appreciate the approach she took as it added a warmth to Alan's voice that isn't often captured on his other records. Thanks again to everyone who participated in these last two albums as I know both this and When Somebody Loves You aren't necessariily fan favorites. That means with the completion of those we're nearing the finish line of the album series leaving only his latest offering, Where Have You Gone, along with Everything I Love and Drive (of which I'll be launching shortly!).

Yay, thrilled to see myself come SO close to getting perfect rankings for the entire top 5! If only the 1 and 2 had been switched... This album definitely was unique, but it has its time and place for sure! I feel like I would enjoy every song individually if they came on shuffle within the context of his broader discography, even if I find the album itself to be a little snoozy when listened to front-to-back. "A Woman's Love" is probably the song on this album that feels the most like "regular" Alan, so it's no surprise to see it fare well here. "Nobody Said That It Would Be Easy" has a really sneakily catchy melody though that got under my skin, and snuck its way into my #1 slot by way of the fact that I couldn't get it out of my head in the few minutes after having finished the album. "Like Red On A Rose" is a song that I have mixed feelings about, but it still ended up as my #3 here. I always feel like it's a station changer when it first begins.....but when I let it play out I really enjoy the chorus and the way the song builds once we get past the opening verse. I guess you could say it takes a little bit of a listening investment! "The Firefly Song" has a really quirky melody, so I'm a bit surprised to see how well it did here! I had a lot of trouble ranking this one, and easily could have put it low, but ultimately its uniqueness gave it an identity that helped it to be more memorable than the majority of this album, so it snuck into my top 5. I think "Wait A Minute" might have been a contender for my top spot, but after a few listens it fell further back in my top 5. Thrilled with the perfect ranking! Thanks for hosting tim ! I'm excited for the last few albums! Drive has been one of the ones I've been looking most forward to, so it's about time it's finally here!

Released on October 19, 1996, Everything I Love is Alan’s sixth studio album and produced six singles including the Number One hits “Little Bitty” and “There Goes” along with the Top Ten hits in the title track, “Between the Devil and Me”, and “Who’s Cheatin’ Who”. The albums final single, “A House with No Curtains”, peaked just inside the Top 20 making it his first single since 1989 to miss the Top Ten. In August 2001, Everything I Love was certified triple platinum by the RIAA. Released on January 15, 2002, Drive is Alan’s tenth studio album and produced his highest-debuting single on the Hot Country Songs charts in the number 1 hit, “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)”, a ballad written in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Alan debuted the song for the first time at the Country Music Association’s awards show in November, 2001, and the response was so immense that many of the stations began playing it using only a taping from the show. It wasn’t until a week later that Arista serviced an official studio recording as a promotional single to radio. Also released were the title track, “Work in Progress”, and “That’d Be Alright” which peaked at number 1, number 3, and number 2, respectively. The album would go on to win Album of the Year honors from both the ACMs and the CMAs as well as winning the Grammy Award for Best Country Song. In May 2003, the album was certified quadruple platinum by the RIAA for sales of over 4 million units. I’m hoping for a great turnout for these final few albums and I’d like to welcome back some of the previous participants back into the fold who started off with us including taylor is terrified, ClevelandRox, Troublemaker, and Kris Kringle! That invitation also extends to others that haven't participated before including austin, HeyHeyHey, LBTrocks, fearlessarrow, gonecountry, lady𝓐fan, and of course anyone else that might have some interest before this wraps up. There is plenty of time to work on these as I’ve provided six weeks overall with Everything I Love due on Wednesday, March 16th, followed by Drive two weeks thereafter on Wednesday, March 30th.

Both albums are fantastic, especially Drive. It deserved all the awards it won. Although there are a few songs I'm iffy on, they're pretty solid (hey, gotta give credit where credit's due, right?). I might have my lists ready for both of them actually. Not sure if I can contain my excitement, though...
