"She Don't Get High" is one of the seven songs that Alan did not have a hand in writing or co-writing and as most of you know that's quite unusual for him. I was quite flummoxed with how this ended up performing because I happen to think it's one of the standout album tracks from all three studio albums he released in the 2010s (well four if you count his bluegrass album). This started off strong as both myself and Kanenrá:ke put this in our top 5 before settling back some as it received a lone last place ranking from someguy. It was never quite able to regain its footing after that and even dipped back a couple of more spots after receiving an additional two rankings in the bottom 2 from kw9461 and Troublemaker. I was really hoping that taylor is terrified's top 2 ranking would manage to bring this back up by at least one spot, but alas it remained planted where it had been previously. Considering that there were only three singles from this project, I was unsure if I was going to include four or five songs for Alan's album tracks rankdown. I suppose it was dependent on where this song placed, so y'all are making me use up one of my executive decisions early on. There's just no way I could leave this song out!

It is literally the auditory equivalent of having to play "Pomp and Circumstance" on loop 287 times while the graduates parade slowly in front of the crowd two at a time to take their seats. Lord, don't remind me of that Anyways, things were going great until I lost my #5. Even so I figured it probably wouldn't have lasted too much longer into the Top 10 so it least it got that justice! EDIT: some of y'all are some tasteless heaux!!!!

Leaving next is our most polarizing song as it contains five bottom 5 rankings of which two are for last place. Unfortunately a second participant must say goodbye to their top-ranking song.

EDIT: some of y'all are some tasteless heaux!!!! Never more evident than by the fact that “When I Saw You Leaving (For Nisey)” bows out next consisting of not one but two last place rankings. And unfortunatley just after losing their #2 song, taylor is terrified becomes our second participant to lose their top-ranking song. This in turn was our most polarizing song of the rankdown as it garnered three additional top 5 rankings of which contain a pair of top 2 rankings from castleoblivion26 and .indulgecountry. At the other end we have the two last place rankings I previously mentioned from George Strait Junkie and Troublemaker as well as three additional bottom 5 rankings. This becomes the second song from this project to join Alan's album tracks rankdown, so taylor is terrified at least you have that to look forward to! For those wondering or who may not know, Nicey is referring to Alan's wife Denise and the song is about her battle with cancer back in 2010.

Well this was going great until we got to this page. Neither one of these had any business being outside the top 5. Where tf is "Talk Is Cheap"? That song was straight up FILLER.

The next two songs are actually tied in points, so the tie-breaker ended up going to the song that contains a #1 ranking. With that said, I was still a bit reluctant to use that if only because our next song was the more consistent top 5 contender and was also our third least polarizing song.

“Look Her in the Eye and Lie” bows out just a spot shy of the top 5, but as you can see it was nothing but a consistent top 5 contender for its entire run. This is up until the final moment that I had to make a tie-breaking decision, and since the other song had a #1 ranking I somewhat reluctantly moved this one back. That in turn actually meant that it got moved back two spots unfortunately which became its lowest position of the rankdown. This only had two bottom 3 rankings with everyone else placing this mostly somewhere in the middle. Five others lose a top five ranking along with a top 3 from castleoblivion26.

I was going to stop there for now, but I've already mentioned that the tie-breaker was someone's #1 ranking so I think I'll just go ahead and reveal which song that is!

And there you have it! "Talk Is Cheap" ended up bumping back up into the top 5 at the last minute as 🌺CountryLineDancer's #1 ranking was used as the deciding factor in breaking the tie. As I mentioned above, of the two “Look Her in the Eye and Lie” was by far the more consistent top 5 contender as "Talk Is Cheap" more or less had found a steady ride hanging back just a spot shy of that. This clocks in as our second most polarizing song which sees a pair of top 2 rankings from Kanenrá:ke and Kris Kringle along with a handful of other top 5s. At the other end, this accumulated two bottom 3 rankings including a bottom 3 from .indulgecountry.

No idea what some of y'all were hearing in this one. I thought this one would easily land in the bottom 3 or 4 songs in this album for being pure filler. About half of this album felt like filler though honestly. Nothing outright bad, but not a particularly strong effort overall. The highs were really good though.

Very glad that Talk Is Cheap made it to the top 5!!! It's quite a simple song, but I just enjoy it a lot.

I share this same sentiment as Thirty Miles West just ins't one of Alan's albums that I find myself reaching for much to revisit, but you're right in that the album has some highs that can't be ignored. With that said, I'm going to go ahead and wrap this one up in short order as I'm sure the general consensus is that it'll be a tall order to overcome one song in particular. Let's go ahead and find out if an album track can make the top 3 or if we're left remaining with the albums three singles!

I'll be playing all night in every honky tonk bar In the middle of a fiddle and a steel guitar
I don't have to say it'd be Heaven to me Watching neon lights for eternity So go ahead and put it on my headstone 4. “Gonna Come Back As a Country Song” Track: #1 Songwriters: Terry McBride, Chris Stapleton Total: 92 Average: 6.13 Std Dev: 3.36 (5th Highest) {Songs Remaining}Long Way to Go So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore You Go Your Way

I think only one single is guaranteed to outlast the album tracks. I could see an album track making the top 2 if everybody all agreed on one track being great haha Well, not so much as “Gonna Come Back As a Country Song” is our final album track to exit leaving us with the three singles released from the project. This started out down at the bottom thanks to an initial last place ranking from Kanenrá:ke, but it was able to quickly rebound as it picked up a top 2 from at George Strait Junkie. It managed to find its way into the top 5 about halfway through the rankdown as it continued to pick up a handful of top five rankings. This only dipped back outside of the top 5 momentarily with a second last place ranking from 🌺CountryLineDancer. That didn't last long though as it picked up two top three rankings from .indulgecountry and taylor is terrified whose final list allowed this to sneak into the top 4 at the last minute. For those keeping track, “Gonna Come Back As a Country Song” is our final song from this project to get a place in Alan's album tracks rankdown. It joins "Look Her in the Eye and Lie", Talk Is Cheap", "When I Saw You Leaving", and "She Don't Get High".

9. How many #1 ranks will the winning song have? I suspect it'll be a big one... Maybe 11 out of 15 participants? 9. How many #1 ranks will the winning song have? No more than nine. Cody Wants Out... was correct in that nine participants ended up putting "So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore" as their top-ranking song (did y'all notice the little hint in that the question was #9 )! This likely comes as little surprise to everyone as it finished in the top 15 in Alan's artist rankdown (although it only squeaked in by one point) leaving the other two singles in the dust. This was also the clear front-runner from the get-go and never even left its spot atop the rankdown. It also should be noted that this comes in as our least polarizing with everyone putting it inside their top 4. Well, almost everyone as 🌺CountryLineDancer was the lone outlier with his head-scratching #10 ranking (you do you!). That left the albums other two singles duking it out for which one would land in the top 2. Alright, it really wasn't even all that competitive as they both pretty much settled in quite comfortably to their positions early on. “You Go Your Way” did manage to get three #1 rankings though from Cody Wants Out... , someguy , and kw9461 .

one of "When I Saw You Leaving (For Nisey)" and "Look Her In The Eye and Lie" should have been top 5 over "Talk Is Cheap" at least. TIC just wasn't a standout at all. Especially when you have "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore" right there. Serious side eye to anyone who had anything other than that #1 lol Thanks for hosting tim! Look forward to seeing what the next albums will be!

The singles went in the correct order! "Long Way to Go" is a weak song. Terrible lead single choice at a time when he was in a tough spot between coming back strong or speeding up his phasing out at radio, and unfortunately this song did the latter. "You Go Your Way" is a solid song, and would've been a better pick for a more lively lead single. "So You Don't Have to Love Me Anymore" is immaculate and one of his career best. Love it.

While I can certainly see that "So You Don't Have To Love Me Anymore" is probably the better song, there's just something I've always loved about "You Go Your Way". Its actually the song that sold me on buying the album. I'm hit or miss with owning Alan's albums, but that some coming out as a single made me decide to buy it and see what the rest of the album was like. Great top 2 though! Thanks for hosting tim.
