R&B could have a solid 2021. Summer Walker, Ella Mai, H.E.R., SZA and Snoh Aalegra should be dropping albums this year. dvsn, Gallant and Giveon are also set to drop albums as well. I'm sure many more R&B singers will drop music too.
Genres usually fall behind when the best and biggest acts fail to drop new music in any given year. Rap and R&B should dominate 2021.

Its 2021 and I still don't know how certifications work Well it is simple, for RIAA it is like this: For albums: 1 pure sale = 10 track sales = 1,500 On-Demand Streams (Audio/Video) For songs: 1 song sale = 150 On-Demand Streams (Audio/Video) For RIAA unlike Billboard it doesn't matter weather the streams are paid or free. On-Demand means programmed streams from services like Pandora don't count. Also only officially uploaded videos count for certification purposes. So no UGC (user generated content), only videos uploaded to the artist channel or the record label/movie company channel. And ofc RIAA is U.S.A. only.
This is all you need to know for RIAA certifications. I'm also not sure what platinum actually means now. It used to be "1 million copies sold." And a ton easier to achieve than In the past. If you mean for singles, the award is literally called DIGITAL Single Award. So it is pointless to compare to previous decades. That award is meant for this era and the future.
Also Diamond Single =/= Diamond Album
- I have seen comparisons like this... please don't.
But if you meant for albums it is easier to get, thanks to streaming. Well
The best selling album in the streaming era (2015-) is '25'. But that is mostly thanks to big pure sales, so i will ignore it (11.7M BB units). The second biggest album is 'Views' which sits at 6.7M Album Untis (using Billbaord/Nielsen formula, RIAA should be higher but not by much - because the albums isn't big on video streaming).
The third biggest one is 'beerbongs & bentleys' sitting at 6M. Only 8 albums have crossed the 5M mark in the Streaming Era. (using Billboard/Nielsen units formula)
Should i point out how many albums sold 5M + each year in other decades, should i point out how many albums reached Diamond status within a year or two back in the days. I don't think it will be neccessary. It is harder to get album certifications now, everyone knows it.
tl;dr: The Digital Single Award is meant for this era, so don't compare with previous eras. Regarding albums it is a lot harder to get higher certificaions.

If R&B is making a comeback, hopefully we also leave dirtbags like Tory Lanez and Chris Brown in the past Tory Lanez hasn't scored any proper hits as a lead artist since 2015/2016 with Say It & Luv. I don't think anyone has to worry about seeing him high on the charts unless he's lucky and scores anothee feature placement on a song that does well like he did with the Whats Poppin Remix last year. Chris Brown won't be going anywhere anytime soon, so you might as well get used to it. No Guidance (2019/2020), Go Crazy (2020/2021). He's due for another hit later this year. I think the difference comes in their fanbases. Tory got popular as a Drake/Weeknd knockoff whose music wasn’t nearly as interesting as either of those artists, so it’s no surprise that his fanbase eventually moved on from his solo material in favor of the more interesting artists he was ripping off, especially after the Megan incident came to light. He still (somehow) has a die-hard fanbase, to be sure, but it’s not as big as it was before. Meanwhile, Chris Brown has had a large and intensely loyal fanbase since his debut, so he was able to come out of the Rihanna incident without too much of a problem. Sure, his career has been largely focused on collaborations recently (even Back to Sleep, his last true solo hit in 2016, was only able to make the YE thanks to the Usher/Wale remix), but he has the organic following to justify his success. I used to get angry at his continued success throughout the 2010s, but nowadays I’m more exasperated.

Not reg Hot100 but has anyone seen the latest BB Hot rock & alt chart? After Taylor's album bomb sent good older tracks to recurrent, it's filled with ass music. On top of that Taylor's tracks are hardly rock/alt 🙃 The revamp of the genre charts might be the biggest blunder they’ve ever made. I get what they were going for but it really does not work.

Is this due to that .69 discount? He must know he doesn’t have that power for a top debut anymore.

Since the Spotify charts aren’t out, lets just assume that Good Days is still at 1 since it accumulated 2M streams.

I think that a chart should be about that chart and only that chart. there's tons of changes need in the overall industry do we list them all on a weekly chart? What's the connection? None. right now the info on the hot 100 is a permanent record of that song for That week. that info doesn't change. Position, writers, label etc. An RIAA listed cert is probably outdated within weeks. It therefore serves no purpose as anyone looking at an old chsrt is getting false outdated misleading info. go ahead and change all the music problems in the world, just leave them off the charts. I honestly don't know or particularly care about what you're rambling on about, but okay. Don't clutter up the charts with stuff not about the chart.

Yep definitely wanna see that list of albums awarded diamond within a year of release... in fact the majority of those albums on the list took a decade(S) or more.

From 2015-now only 2 albums have sold 4M+ in a tracking year: Views (4M) & 25 (8M) 1993-1999 = 28 albums 2000-2005 = 23 albums Albums selling 500k in 5th week was reality for big albums back in the day, now lmfao Here are some i wont bother anymore:

I meant certifications in general, I never mentioned singles or albums, nor diamond. Well that is why i wrote it like that.
Album certifications are harder to get now compared to 90s/80s.
Singles certifications didn't even exist then in this form. So ofcourse there are 10k songs getting certified now compared to almost none in the 80s.
That is why i said don't compare Single certifications to Album certifications.
The award is called Digital Single Award.

It is most certainly not harder nowadays for an album to get an RIAA cert. gold is ridiculously low and easy. you keep seeming to need to attach numbers like 4m or 8m or diamond. I'm not talking about multiple cents, but the simple fact of getting certified. as well music and the world existed before the 1990s. In fact about half of chart history for the hot 100. Yes I realize RIAA didn't start in 1958.
