I don't know if it's me or Royal Blood, but I'm just not liking RB as much as I was back in college. I mean, Typhoons is probably my favorite single from this new project, but it's just been bubbling under on my personal chart for months at this point. Hunter was cool, I like the tone of the guitars especially. These are both decent, could go either way. I think Hunter may be the underdog though so I'll give it to that.

The rapping flows nicely with the beat in "Backhand". "Edge of the Dark" has a cool production and after the song takes off around the 3 minute mark it was great, but ultimately I found "Backhand" to be the more engaging of the two. I wish "Edge of the Dark" took off a little earlier, I think I would've voted for it had that been the case.

To be fair, Creatures is one of their better songs but sorry guys, I'll go with the white woman singing about her boy problems any day.

Backhand is decent, but this stylr is overdone. Edge of The Dark picked up in second half.

Had low expectation regarding Trying to Find Atlantis 2.0 as I remembered both artists have production issues in the part, but this rework is surprisingly solid. I like the idea. Also 2.0 may become more than the version number lol. Where I Find God is decent. Content not relatable and sounds a bit like a vocal imitator.

Typhoons is Royal Blood's stronger track in a while. Good infectious dance rock. Hunter is grungy at points but it doesn't have the great groove that Typhoons has.

Bad Dream is as good as the previous Cannons song. Maybe finally good synthpop-that-is-played-on-alt group? Positions is lazy Ariana Grande.

The lyrics of Cocktail Conversations are...something. Haven't listened to his solo song before but he sounds like Chris Young and Kane Brown hybrid lol. Either way between some picks by bigfan, he might be the curator of Spotify's (lame) Hot Country playlist. Didn't really like the tune of Jealous either. The bass is decent I guess.

Champagne Problems is overrated, but I am not sure whether I need the idea of synthpop IDLES. Creatures isn't bad but the vocals are hard to get into after so few listens. Taylor Swift's song is more palatable.

Middle Kids - “Questions” (American Idiot, #3) vs. H.E.R. - “Fight For You” (Leo, #4)
Questions feel like rock drum & baas if it makes sense. I like H.E.R. but she is not strong enough to win an Oscar for this or win this matchup.

- "Edge Of The Dark" has a nice vibe that I was able to get into. The production is kind of cool. I'm personally not a fan of "Backhand" though. Not my cup of tea.

- This one is kind of tough because I like both songs. But as nice as "Where I Find God" is, I feel like I have to give it to "Trying To Find Atlantis". The vocals are the main standout, but the instrumental is nice too.

- I can't say I cared all that much about "Hunter". It's okay. Apparently Typhoons was just released today. I'll probably give that album a spin once my schedule frees up. The title track is my least favorite of the pre-released singles, and that says a lot because I still like it quite a bit. Catchy chorus and great instrumental.

- "Bad Dream" is probably my favorite discovery of this set so far. I love the groove and the song is very catchy. I've never been a fan of "Positions" and I think Ariana Grande is beyond overrated. Fortunately it doesn't look like this mediocre song will be getting a free pass.
