This one was a masterpiece, so this not making the top 10 seemed a little disappointing. Then again, everything left pretty much is a masterpiece.

Alright, everyone. I got a work break so I will go ahead and reveal #13. 14 people put it top 50 (vs. 3), with 10 putting it top 20. However, a whopping 8 people put it top 10! This is a record so far and nothing has even come close. I was surprised (and disappointed) this didn't make the top 10, especially with so many top 10 ranks. That isn't even the craziest part - SEVEN PEOPLE ranked this Top 5. Yes, you heard right. Seven people. Yet this still couldn't go top 10 on here. One of the best songs of this year for sure, possibly from the whole decade too. The instrumentation literally creates such a unique atmosphere almost no other song can make.

Even on a list this stacked, I'm stunned "Reach Out" isn't top ten.
I'm expecting #11 to be my #5. It'd be really nice if we took care of my last non-top 14 right before the top ten, though.

16. The Rolling Stones - "19th Nervous Breakdown"
If you don't think this would be in my top 10 then you haven't been paying attention. My rank for this classic was ten spots higher than this. This also leaves me with only two top 10's that I'm 50% confident will make the top 10.
15. Stevie Wonder - "Uptight (Everything's Alright)"
Wasn't a first time listen, but first time I knew he sang it. Love the jumpy Motown sound. Gave it a #29. Of course this Motwon style could only come back in music's best era ever. The 80's in songs from Wham, Jo Boxers, ABC, even HUman League "Mirror Man". Just to name a few.
14. The Supremes - "My World Is Empty Without You"
Not too familair with this oe and it was no where as great sounding to me as the other two singles on this list.
13. The Four Tops - "Reach Out (I'll Be There)"
I have this ancient '45 somewhere in the house. I recall hearing it many many times. gave it a #20, but I would have given " It's The Same Old Song" a top 5 rank.
12. The Beatles - "We Can Work It Out"
Didn't give it a Top 10 rank, but how low can you actually rank a Beatles Classic? Below top 20 seems a little harsh.
Couldn't you have squeezed in #11. At least this way it would be out of it's misery.

Hello guys, I know it might seem like this won't end up happening at the time I say it will, but I am definitely trying to get better at this. :) I do want to start back with the rankdown around 4 PM ET today. I want to make sure to at least get 11 and 10-6, and hopefully even reveal 5-3 by tonight. I do start work at 10 PM tonight, so that will be the limit. I want to slowly reveal which ones are safe for the top 10. 4 songs are already safe: "Summer In the City" "California Dreamin" "You Keep Me Hangin' On" "Good Vibrations" Meaning #11 could be one of the following: "Nowhere Man" "Paint It Black" "Sloop John B" "You Can't Hurry Love" "These Boots Are Made For Walking" "Paperback Writer" or "The Sound of Silence" It might be several hours before I post again. |
