It would be more exciting if radio would let Blinding Lights go, and started playing newer songs like Telepatía instead.

Boring week. It's gonna be a while before the annoyance army stops buying that song. It's their 8 year anniversary or whatever next week and I have already seen whispers of a mass buying campaign again. We really shouldn't be surprised, though. They released two additional remixes on Friday, and physicals are apparently shipping out late next week (i.e. impacting the week of 7/3), which will make it even easier for them to reach their goals, whatever those happen to be. Olivia will still give them competition for a fair bit, but until another BTS single or remix comes out, or Army just feels there's no need to hold onto the #1 anymore, this is the game they'll play.

both BL and Levitating tbh. I mean, 22 weeks in the top 10 is nothing compared to BL's 57, but Levitating is 14 months old already. and Butter gtfo too

I miss the time when charts are all about authentic popularity in the 2010s. Today is all about manipulation and organized buying. I really wish Apple would shut down iTunes in 2019 based on the rumors.

I rather not go back to the time when the charts were dominated by whatever radio played.

I rather not go back to the time when the charts were dominated by whatever radio played. I disagree. 2004 was a year when the charts were dominated by whatever radio played, and that produced the best Year End chart ever.

Before UF, I would call the sales/radio dominant era. After UF, I would call the streaming dominant era.

Butter remains on top of the Global 200 and Global Excl. US 200. Good 4 U, Todo De Ti, and Save Your Tears round out the top 4 of both charts, in that order.
Also, for those interested, Zitti e Buoni, Italy's Eurovision-winning song by Maneskin, enters the top 10 of the Global Excl. US chart at #10.

Poor good 4 u stuck behind Butter on every chart, maybe it’s fortune will turn around next week.

Radio emphasizes much of what's popular but not all of it. Imagine a 2020 yearend without WAP, for example. But a yearend without any of the year's major radio hits would also look odd too. Radio doesn't necessarily make hits, but it does a good job of propping up the ones already out there.

based on the global chart #s, 78% of this week's US sales were massbuys on bts's website.

People can say whatever they want about radio, but it was the metric that best highlighted the dominance of Blinding Lights in 2020.

Y'all talking about radio when sales is the only component actually damaging the charts.

All I’m saying is today is a better representation of what songs are popular than it was back when radio was the dominant metric.

All I’m saying is today is a better representation of what songs are popular than it was back when radio was the dominant metric. Could you give me some examples of a song that you feel isn't popular outside of radio right now? Excluding examples like "Blinding Lights" or "Levitating" because both have done really well on all metrics.

No, I think this current top 10 is actually a really good representation of what’s popular right now.

I Hope was a real hit. It was Top 10 in 2 metrics (radio and sales). The only one that wasn’t a real hit was PYRO, which was barely Top 10 radio and not much else in the other metrics.

If no one else will be able to end Butter's dominance, Ed Sheeran should be able to. He'll perform the new single in the TikTok Euro 2020 concert on June 25th. Of course it's possible we have a new number one at that point (or Good 4 u repeak)

McDonald's Has Had a Record-Shattering Week Thanks to This New Item Mura Dominko 5 hrs ago
New chicken sandwiches have been some of the most popular items to draw customers to McDonald's this year, but they aren't the reason the chain is currently experiencing a record amount of foot traffic at its locations. Rather, it's the highly anticipated BTS meal that launched in the United States on May 26.
According to Business Insider, McDonald's has seen a significant spike in the number of customers visiting its locations after just one week of selling the pop group's meal. Restaurant visits were up by 12% over the previous week, amounting to more demand than the chain has seen all year.
And while we've come to expect celebrity collaborations to boost sales at McDonald's, reports say that the BTS meal has already outpaced the super-successful Travis Scott meal from last year. The Quarter Pounder bundle, which was advertised as Scott's go-to Mickey D's order, boosted weekly traffic by 9%. It was the first celeb-endorsed meal to land on the menu in 30 years and ended up being a lucrative one for both the rapper and the fast-food giant. However, based on its initial popularity, the BTS meal is on track to reach new heights of success.
Unlike previous collaborations, McDonald's is launching this one worldwide—the BTS meal will soon be available in 50 countries on six continents. And besides the fact that the K-pop group has hordes of devoted fans who are swarming the restaurants and buying up the related merchandise, there's another differentiator that makes this meal enticing even to those outside of the pop group's orbit. The BTS meal brings previously unavailable flavors to American customers with two new dipping sauces. The Sweet Chili and the Cajun, which were inspired by McDonald's Korea, made their stateside debut exclusively with the meal and have so far gotten positive reviews.
Celebrity meals have proven to be a clever way for fast-food brands to stay relevant with younger consumers in recent years. "They look to recommendations much more than any other generation has. They're very reliant on social media. They're very reliant on their friends," McDonald's Chief Marketing Officer Morgan Flatley told Business Insider last year during the height of the Travis Scott campaign.

And then when it’s someone specific like Drake or Post Malone that will drown the charts then y’all complain the same exact way.

Wow, really surprised Levitating is holding onto its top-3 position! Still sad that it didn't get number 1, but a well-remembered second-place is better than a #1 that spends 3 weeks on the chart.

Rod Wave made a mistake by not making Tombstone a single. That would have been an easy Top 10. Not to mention, Tombstone is way better than AITO.
