Radio: 11 9 6 71 Blinding Lights, The Weeknd 1 Sales: 24 28 32 76 Blinding Lights, The Weeknd 1 Streaming: 34 39 39 75 Blinding Lights, The Weeknd 1 Well, Blinding Lights increased on 2 metrics this week, and was #11 on the third metric it didn't increase in. Yes, BL deserves its spot on the Hot 100 this week. Blinding Lights didn't gain in any of the three metrics. Other songs fell harder. Last week: 4.3k sales + 12.0m streams + 40.2m airplay This week: 4.0k sales + 11.7m streams + 40.0m airplay so the song continues its downward trend streak since February, losing Hot 100 points once again. |

Artist 100 TW LW 2W WOC TITLE PEAK 1 17 17 358 Taylor Swift 1 2 1 2 21 Olivia Rodrigo 1 so, now even 10 songs in the top 50 and a #2 album aren't enough for #1. Cool Albums heavily impact that chart, which is why an artist with high pure sales for an album can hit the Top 10 or even #1 without having anything on the Hot 100 or much of an appearance on the Social 50. |

Food for thought... do you guys feel like Taylor Swift was the most popular artist of the week? The numbers don't lie, she had the biggest album, and that is correctly reflected on the album chart, but... idk, I have never been a fan of the Artist 100 (or that Social mess of a chart).
Not saying this as a dig against Taylor, love her; but that formula could use some more metrics being included imo.

Food for thought... do you guys feel like Taylor Swift was the most popular artist of the week? No. But those legitimate vinyl sales had to go somewhere, and last week is where they went. I'm sure we'll be seeing cases like this come up again. |

Taylor Swift was not the most popular artist of the week. In fact, she would not rank in my Top 3. The most popular artists of the week were Olivia Rodrigo, BTS, and The Weeknd.
(Side note: I love how lyhom's post got all these likes, and that post didn't bring anything useful to the conversation.)

I suppose one could have points for songs, both current and recurrent, add in points for the pure sales of albums, and take into consideration songwriting credits as well, perhaps. I don't think it would be that hard to manipulate tbh, it's just that it's a handful of people pulling the strings instead of 50k fans buying a Red Lobster + Physical single bundle or something. We get payola claims daily here for a reason lol. |
