"favorite crime" wasn't even performed on SOUR Prom. An organic hit album.

The way some posters (see above) get hung up on something - in this case a chart feat by 2 artists over the age of 40 who have a slow-burn hit (good for them!) that is defying the recurrency rules (which apply to every song). I just wish some of y'all could leave your own brains for a minute and realize how joyless it comes off. And ageist, in this case. If it were your favorite artist defying recurrency, you'd be (either silently or loudly) cheering it on. Instead, it's post after post about it being this dreadful thing. It begs the question, what is your reasoning for carrying on about OTM it in a negative way? You don't like the artist(s)? The song? Their age? The super slow burn too much for you? What is the problem with this particular entry, exactly? And are you going to let it go, or turn what is otherwise and interesting and rare chart feat into something negative, like it's this huge stain on the chart? The problem I have is this song isnβt really making any impact. I could understand if it is charting high on at least one metric. OTM is an over 9-month old song that is outside the Top 1000 on Apple Music, not ranked on Spotify, and is barely ranked on the metric it is charting (#43 on radio). It should not be charting. OTM isnβt the only song thatβs clogging up the charts. In my opinion, the recurrent rules arenβt doing enough. Mood and MEBF have been taking up spots in the 30-45 range, while not being that impactful anymore, and a 25/40 rule (instead of 25/52) would cut down on this. Dude just admit like the rest of us, you want songs you like to gain and stay, while songs you don't like you wish would drop out. I still remember you bizarrely wanted telepatia's momentum to stop for no reason.

Yeah I don't think there's anything wrong with the current recurrent rules. Also saying songs are not "impactful" is completely subjective and is not a reason why a song should go recurrent. Mood deserves to chart because it's still doing good enough in streaming, sales and radio to earn a spot in the top 50.

This debuted at the Alt charts this week and it annoys me to no end that beabadoobee, Beach Bunny, and other female alt acts are barely given time to shine in favor of a TikToker turned Billie Eilish-clone Good Lord !!! There is βinspirationβ but this is flat out Ellie plagiarism. Never heard of her before

What's her story? What variety of plant is she? "Tik Tok star" Anyway, it debuted at #46 on an arbitrary genre chart where Billboard randomly decides what genre a song is. Lord knows she isn't charting there because rock fans are actually interested. It's hardly worth getting upset over. It'll be gone next week. The reason it's on alt and not on pop was most likely because her label sent it to alt radio which is what Billboard usually goes by to determine genre (this is why it took awhile for WITHOUT YOU to be considered alt) It's small sure but it just goes to continue to show how alienated Alt stations are from actual alternative and rock acts people like. Instead of someone people liked (and there are alt acts with good streaming right now), they went with a Billie clone

What is fact is that BL is higher on all 3 metrics than all of those songs day in and day out. Hence, why BL is ranked higher than those songs on the Hot 100 on a weekly basis.

The lyrics of "Fancy Like" are absolute garbage from Start to Finish, I literally can't stand Walker Hayes voice in this song. The worst lyrics in this Song would have to be these "She wanna dip me like them fries in her Frosty" and this "Bougie like Natty in the styrofoam". Why did this Country Song have to be the one to go viral on TikTok?. I can't believe I'm saying this but I would rather listen to "Drinkin' Beer. Talkin' God. Amen." then this abomination of a Song. I like the Kane Brown X Blackbear

If you agree with drem, you're totally clueless. drem is clearly wrong here, and I am right. Besides, if you guys think the Hot 100 rankings and its metrics are completely subjective, then why do you even bother posting on these Hot 100 threads? The Hot 100 is supposed to be a measure of the popularity of songs based on 3 metrics: sales, streaming, and radio. If you guys do not like that, then post somewhere else, preferably in a chart thread where those metrics don't matter.

The problem is you've been strawmanning Drem: they weren't saying Blinding Lights was less impactful than the other songs, but rather that its impactfulness does not preclude it from being affected by the stronger recurrency you've been suggesting. They, like I, would rather recurrency not get stronger at all, and seeing someone suggest it seemingly to make their golden child even more unassailable in the future feels like utter ladder-kicking.

Even though Butter was the Hot 100 #1 in all of those weeks, an argument can be made that G4u is actually the bigger/more impactful song than Butter in several of those weeks.

Any info on "Down" by Marian Hill? It's used in a commercial. Streamwise? Was it ever a hit? Was featured in the definitive Apple Airpods commercial a while back. Song clicked immediately, and ultimately supplanted the more recent "Back To Me" as Marian Hill's official single (which was very unfortunate for Lauren Jauregui, who would have gained solo momentum if it took off). Now appears in an Allstate Insurance commercial.
