As a casual chart fan who rarely visits these threads, it just seems embarrassing that the obvious most popular song in our country for almost 2 months is being screwed at #2 every week.

Shady political dumps and shady music dumps do sort of belong together though, no? Are you trying to make a funny? The point is, businesses want the most traction out of their reveals on social media, etc. Friday is one of the worst days for that, Saturdays even worse. Which is why shady politicians use Fridays to release things they want less eyes on.

Wow, glad they're finally changing the airplay tracking week to align with the sales and streaming week, only took them several decades to implement this measurement consistency!! I'm guessing they're changing it now more to give them time to calculate and tabulate the results more carefully, after some recent mishaps. If it was solely for the alignment consistency, you'd think they would have done it much much sooner! And yeah it also means, at least for most songs, which are still released on Fridays, their first chart week will encompass all it's first week sales, streaming, and airplay, including any first day "payola" effects, and will prevent songs charting early due to the latter (although I haven't noticed any songs charting early due to this effect anymore with radio's decreased value on the charts). Still dumb that the genre airplay charts won't match up with the overall Radio Songs, they should really be the same for consistency.
As for the positions on this week's chart, nothing too eventful, except glad to see Ed fairly stable, dropping just one spot - all metrics seem to be holding up well and people seem to be liking the song, so expect it to stick around for a while. Also glad to see Montero rising back into the top 5 - didn't see that coming. I think with this song, now that most people have gotten over the controversy of the video, the song itself is probably testing well, thus leading to its surprising airplay growth - #1 on pop, very surprising that's it's doing even better than OTR, and might eventually do better in overall airplay when all is said and done! As for positions 7-10, it kind of feels like these songs are over and done with and they should depart soon.

I love how y'all talk about how you can deal with a Saturday reveal or a chart on Sunday as if Billboard cares.

I can live with having one day to audit, and a Saturday reveal. But 3-4 days is completely unnecessary. ARIA and UK release charts on Fridays, and they never have the problems we do with the Hot 100. They’re not going to do a Saturday reveal. No one reads the news on the weekends the way they do during the week. In terms of prime time to release the charts each week, they have it. Early in the week.

Anything that comes out on a Friday afternoon is probably going to be bad news that they hope reporters don’t pick up on because they’ve filed their stories for the day and readers have begun tuning out in time for the weekend.

Whew, 7 consecutive weeks at number one, what a smash. What a trash, they are ruining the whole chart for this summer...

Read the article. it specifically states there is no change to reveal/chart posting days. Let it go. I won’t let it go. So what do you intend to do about it?

So what do you intend to do about it? Write to Billboard. 🤭

So what do you intend to do about it? Just wait until the change happens, and it eventually will. Remember, the reveal day was Wednesday prior to July 2015. Then, that became obsolete with the shifted tracking weeks. The same will happen with Monday reveals. When the data can be made available on Fridays, there’s no way they can hold that until the following Monday.

Okay but they’re definitely not releasing late on Friday, and won’t be doing it Saturday and unlikely on Sunday - if they want to be part of the news cycle. Maybe they don’t. There’s more involved here than simply when they have it ready to go. I wouldn’t expect a 13 year old to get it but I’d like to think a 33 year old could wrap their minds around it.

They own the data, the product and the website....they can hold the data indefinitely if they want. I like the aligned tracking weeks, the split tracking made no sense to me. The three days can be used for quality control which some in this thread would probably like.

I think the chart watchers would prefer charts that are based on actual data only. I think they should reveal BB HOT 100 charts every Sunday at 6am ET. If the weekend isn't an option, I guess Monday is the first reasonable day for a reveal.

The TV and movie industry usually use Friday as a day to dump bad news because consumption of news is down during the weekend. They dump cancellation news on Friday nights and the like. I don't expect Billboard to alter the actual release of the chart.
As for aligning the tracking weeks, it was long overdue imo.

Another way that the new radio tracking week will impact the Hot 100 is that largely radio-driven songs will likely not fare quite as well as they have in the past (in comparison to the more streaming- and sales-driven hits). This will especially be true for country, as many of those songs are often planning to go to #1 on their respective formats, which end their own tracking weeks on Sundays, not Thursdays.
In the long-term, this may mean we won't be seeing as many country songs making the YE from this point forward. While I still expect Famous Friends, Glad You Exist, and One Too Many to be just fine as their runs haven't totally collapsed yet, this could be bad news for songs like Settling Down, Blame It On You, and Single Saturday Night that are depending on strong radio peaks to gather the points needed to make the cut.

Maybe labels should stop artificially inflating songs into #1 for a single day (Sunday) on a radio format and focus on songs that actually have enough popularity to go #1 organically and stay there for more than a random day someone picked to determine the #1. It won't happen, but it'd be cute.

Levitating rising back to #3 in it's 27th week inside the Hot 100 Top 10 is revenge for MediaBase kicking it off pop radio, this song is just gonna continue to smash in pure spite

Besides the Good 4 U vs Butter weekly stale drama... It's awesome to see radio's influence on the Hot 100 top 10, all these songs are Pop or overall radio top 10 hits, unlike what some haters say, radio is aligned with the gp and still going strong! Yay!

Read the article. it specifically states there is no change to reveal/chart posting days. Let it go. I won’t let it go. It makes no sense to wait until Monday (or Tuesday) when you have all the data for a Friday-Thursday tracking week on Friday morning. Waiting 3-4 days to reveal that data is shady at best, and could breed corruption (see LTDO/Levitating fiasco). I'm assuming it takes longer than a few hrs to get a chart together even though their computers doing most of the work???? How old are you??? How much instant gratification do you need? I know this new generation doesn't want to wait for anything but maybe it would make it more special.... Everything doesn't have to come to you when you click a button.. lol Oh Lord, I'm getting old. lol

I could be fine with Sunday at 6 am (as Matthea suggested), but waiting until Monday - when the data could be had on Friday - is completely unnecessary. I remember when the reveal was on Wednesday, and god was that awful.
