i really wanna see soemthing else go number 1 this week but i want to warn ya'll, the mass buying is going to be even worse this week. if they get it this week, it would be 7 weeks at number 1 and ARMY go insane for the number 7. i am already seeing things on my timeline. let's see how this shakes out. I doubt they keep it after because people are gonna get confused about buying Butter or Permission To Dance. First of all, thank you for your contributions.
This whole phenomenon is really fascinating to me. Is there an estimate on the number of people participating in mass-buying? Is this just 10k die-hards, or fewer?
I want to say someone in the 07/10/2021 thread said that there were ~9.5 thousand orders. This would imply that the number of mass buyers is a bit smaller than that (because there are definitely *some* legitimate buys there), but the exact amount would be hard to know.

Not unless BTS Army mass buys until eternity which they're capable to do so! Earliest goal is to be #1 until September the earliest to secure "Song of the Summer 2021 title" achievement for "their boys" Not going to happen. To put into perspective how hard it is to get 26 straight weeks at #1, not even Blinding Lights could do it on radio songs. (It got to 26 overall, but only 23 consecutive.) Itβs never going to happen with just one song. It may happen with two songs, as the BEP did. To break it, someone will need to follow up an Uptown Funk with a See You Again, and not have a Bad Blood interrupt in the middle. Good luck with that! Actually it's not that far out of the realm of possibility, as overall, runs at #1 are becoming longer and longer, e.g. Old Town Road just beating the record two years ago. Plus, even back since the '90s, there have been MANY year-long periods with artists spending 20+ weeks at #1, often very close together with just a couple songs here and there interrupting their runs (Mariah in '95-'96, Santana in '99-2000, Usher in 2004, Drake in 2018, etc.) so it's definitely feasible that someone could break the 26-week streak with even just 2-3 songs.

I don't really know tbh. I know funding bases are rasing thousands from people ALL AROUND the world to make sure the buys are done by American/PR buyers. I also know that there is a team specifically set up to help people download their copies of the song if they can't download them. It's a scary machine. TBH, I don't know that BTS is entirely unaware of the mass buying but Suga keeps making these posts about being surprised and in disbelief and wondering in text if Butter will hit number 1 again before Permission To Dance takes a turn. Fans keep pulling up the most adorable video of BTS at ISAC to use as inspiration. I have no clue what is going to happen at this point tbh. There are no physicals for PTD, so it is going to have to rely firmly on website sales and streaming. I doubt it makes it past a week if it gets there at all. ARMY are good at getting confused when singles drop while another is still being pushed but i have seen people trying to counteract that this time.

Honestly, i'd rather it stay stable in the top 50 then burn out at 1 before tanking.

If this is really this serious of a problem, anyone try writing Billboard about this to see if they can recognize what you guys see as a problem and even see if they are willing to change to give you guys the chart you want?

Website sales have been great for fan engagement. It's too bad a single narcissistic band is self-funding chart manipulation.
What's happening now isn't even close to the 1990s False100. Those charts hardly represent the actual music scene. B200 is better. Dozens of major hits never appeared on H100 ('Don't Speak') or peaked far below reality ('Torn' #42). This is just one song placing higher - the rest of the chart actually gives a good sampling of the current music scene.

^As one, the situation came as a result of bad chart rules that either hurt or benefited certain songs. The Billboard 200 was not without flaws in the 1990s due to existence of Top Pop Catalog Albums. The Top Comprehensive Albums chart was representative then and, not surprisingly, it eventually became the present Billboard 200.

Doesn't matter how much Butter collapses like the Soviet Union on streaming, those 200 BTS fans buying 90k copies of the song will keep it on top over real hits like good 4 u or the new Post Malone single. I guarantee that Butter will not get a 7th week at #1 on the 7/17 chart. It is not ranked on Apple Music, a platform that ranks over 1300 songs, for the 3rd day in a row. Plus, it will not have the physicals to fall back on, like with the 7/10 tracking week. Butter is going to lose a lot of points this week. This week is for the taking, and man do I wish Doja would have pushed back the album release one week... With the iTunes discount, that would have almost been a shoe-in #1. As it stands now, it's a very close race between Good 4 u and Kiss Me More. Eta: none of my words showed up. Sorry for posting twice in a row but you're famous now. They're using your post for motivation. Someone is sharing screenshots. This is insane. Why can't they focus on giving all that money to a good cause. The boys are millionares. Let's solve covid so they can tour again or something.

Wow, whoever snitched, that is just sad, pathetic, petty, there's no words...
It's like the fans are drug addicts, the more and more weeks they get at #1 it just keeps them on their high and they will continue ad infinitum until they wear themselves thin and things get wildly out of control. This for sure will not end well.

Meg, stop doxing people from in here. Did i do okay with erasing their username and stuff or should i have not posted? I don't want to cause trouble. Alsoooo, i was just looking at replies to the previous tweet and people don't understand things. They keep saying, "oh they think there is only 200 stans and everyone else is bots?" I would reply "no, they don't think we are all bots but just because we sell out a stadium does not mean all of those thousands of people are buying butter repeatedly. they're not all wasting their money on a losing battle." if i tweeted that though, i would be ostracised. So i am not tweeting that because in normal times, i like these people alot.

I'm so happy on what Butter had achieved. I know ARMYs are the most dedicated fans in the world and I think 6 weeks at #1 is enough because they already proved a lot. No number one song can measure how successful BTS is. They are legends. I love BTS. I love ARMYs.
Bro screenshot this.

I mean, if we really think Billboard should change something and believe Billboard listen to the record labels, people could organize campaigns to attract the attention of non-BTS record labels and artists because they're the ones at a disservice. Although do we really think they actually care? If anything, they're probably more jealous that they don't have an act on their roster with fans stupid enough to dish money over to them the way Army does for BTS.

I think someone is a mole....but I won't say who it is...lol. If you DM me i can prove it ain't me. How exactly can you "prove" that though? I'll admit I am a bit suspicious myself. You are the one who revealed to us that tweet with the screen capture, so you obviously know about it and it would seem not as likely (though not impossible) that you would just randomly happen to scroll by it. Also a little something else I noticed, it might not have to do with anything, but your profile indicates you first joined this board in 2018, but didn't start posting until very recently if I'm not mistaken, 3 years later.. Edit: I was mistaken, it might not have been your first post, but still relatively few posts until recently
