Do you think there will be another post-album #1, or is Save Your Tears the last one? watermelon sugar was the last true post-album number one watermelon sugar was released before the album so it qualifies even less. plus it being #18 in streaming that week approaches BTS levels of dubious.

What's the OTM watch for this week so far? Do we know what songs have gone recurrent?

"Paved the way for other Asians" as they replace themselves from the top spot and are blocking another Asian artist from the top

So now there’s a song in the top 10 that mentions singing Elton John as well as a song that mentions singing Billy Joel.

"Paved the way for other Asians" as they replace themselves from the top spot and are blocking another Asian artist from the top not to mention all of the songwriting revenue they generated by mass-buying on the website going to the 4 white people who wrote this song, including Ed Sheeran and not one member of BTS, as well as the additional white man who produced the song. not one person of color, let alone an Asian person. "BTS and ARMY can do anything for each other and with each other" like what? all I see is a cult-like following wasting money and time. what have they done with BTS? very concerning.

Also with Laroi and Masked Wolf getting Top 10 hits, when was the last time more than one Australian artist got a Top 10 hit?

Also with Laroi and Masked Wolf getting Top 10 hits, when was the last time more than one Australian artist got a Top 10 hit? the last time 2 Australian artists were in the Top 10 at the same time was... when "Without You" and "AITO" were in the Top 10 together. before that, the easiest example that comes to my mind is Summer 2014 when "Fancy," "Problem," and "Chandelier" were all in the Top 10 together. perhaps there have been other instances in between?

Between Mediabase sending “Levitating” to recurrency while in the Top 5 and Billboard allowing blatant chart manipulation for eight weeks in a row, it’s a rough time to be a chart watcher. That Rolling Stone chart’s looking pretty good right about now.

What's the OTM watch for this week so far? Do we know what songs have gone recurrent? Blinding Lights beat expectations by a few spots: It has a good chance of getting into the Top 10 on the 7/31 chart because it is going to earn the biggest sales gain in Week 85 (let that sink in for a moment):

One Too Many getting an award and smashing its peak position in its 31st week. What a legendary chart run in a time full of them (BL and Levitating come to mind here, and also MEBF).

I'm not sure, I think it had a large airplay drop. It's run overall is pretty interesting, once it fell from #1 it had weak longevity, especially compared to Smooth. Here's it's chart run following it's 10 weeks atop the chart: 8-15-19-21-26-36-48-47-off Compare that to Smooth which was #36 the same week Maria Maria fell off the Hot 100. I think its also funny Wild Thoughts had a similar sharp decline run after it peaked. 4-3-4-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-6-6-12-18-21-25-31-35-38-48 13 weeks top 10 (all top 6 actually), then just 21 weeks total top 50/100. I think it's due in part to the guitar hook that both songs use. It's pretty memorable, but I remember feeling so burnt out from it towards the end of its chart run. I'd hear a note of that guitar line and immediately change the channel.

I liked a lot of songs from Supernatural more than Maria Maria but it and Smooth are what caught on and not the rest of it, alas.

And to think of how badly the Far East Movement was mocked when they came out.

I would have loved for that instrumental to been a single.

Like a G6 is so forgettable outside of the chorus and the poorly aged production, nothing about it stands out as good.

Imagine if there had been Pulse bingo back in 2000 there might have been a category for "____ should be the next single from Supernatural."

What do current rankings on Spotify, Amazon Music, etc. have to do with the July 24 Hot 100? BTS' latest single had to have done well digitally last week, for it to sell 140,000. The act has a super-sized, dedicated fanbase- Billboard's unlikely to do anything about that in terms of the charts, just because other acts' fans don't rally for their favorites at a comparable level.

None of those numbers shown reflect website sales, which is, I think, the point.

Millions of people actively chose to listen to Stay and Good 4 U on Spotify and Apple. Those sales are driven by fan hype and organization at the BTS official website. Besides, 140,000 is not a big number compared to the millions of streams of the songs I mentioned.
