Post Malone will be more than fine. Some people wrote Ed off after Afterglow but look how well Bad Habits is doing. Of course some will claim a top 5 hit is underperformaning but for me it's a win. Post will do very well with the lead single of his next album in my opinion.

Post will do very well with the lead single of his next album in my opinion. And sometimes, it really just boils down to the song/songs you pick as your lead single/first few singles sometimes not being the song/songs people connect with the most. A perfect example is Justin Bieber and Peaches. Holy was a huge hit with it peaking at #3 and spending 14 weeks in the top 10 but the next 3 singles he released after that failed to see even half of the success Holy saw. Lonely peaked at #12. Anyone peaked at #6 but only for 1 week and Hold On only peaked at #20 following the release of the album. It wasn't until Peaches, the FIFTH single off the album, that the album scored it's biggest hit yet with it debuting/peaking at #1 and spending 16 weeks in the top 10. If I'm not mistaken, it's his biggest hit so far this decade. Established artists who are clearly still hitmakers will always be good. They just need to land on a song that most of the general public enjoys.

I think the Post situation is a prime example of the difference between what looks like a one-off single vs. an era-leading single. People might say the album is dying or dead but clearly songs connected to an album (or at least a defined era) still resonate better than random releases. Weβve seen it with Arianaβs singles over the last two years and now again with this one. If Post announces a new album with a specific song as the first single from it, no doubt itβll be huge. Iβm guessing these one-offs are meant to test the waters?

The problem is that these days many artists release several singles before the album because it's really hard to push a single from the album after the album release. Ariana released the first single from her latest album just a week ahead of the album's release, got two hit singles and then the third single got nowhere because it was old news by the time it was pushed as a single. If the artist and their label plan to release several singles before the album, there is no point in announcing the album when the first single is just getting released. Who knows how far along Post Malone's next album is? Is it coming this year or next year?

In all fairness pov does look like it's going to end up as a YE hit, and that's not nothing considering the song didn't have a proper music video. But yes, apart from albums with pretty strong hold (Sour, Future Nostalgia, etc.) post-album singles are pretty rare, that is true.

Who knows how far along Post Malone's next album is? Is it coming this year or next year? There was a clear difference in the performance of Arianaβs singles like Boyfriend and whatever others there were and songs like positions that were announced with the understanding that an album was coming. Granted, we donβt know whether Bad Habits is linked to Edβs next album but the song was pushed differently than Afterglow. Maybe itβs even in just how the song itself is rolled out that helps in its performance but comparing non-album singles to album-based singles, there does seem to be a clear difference in how well they do.

I think Industry Baby will be another #1 hit for Lil Nas X *army exists I'm sure he could get BTS to hop on a remix and get those army privates spending foreign money on him.

This will either make no noise or probably peak in the top 60 (cause it's Belly):

I wonder if Yung Bleu or Billie will be the tougher challenge to BL setting the longevity record. I donβt see either stopping it, but they should both pull better numbers than this PS album.

Remember a few weeks ago when J. Cole did weird formatting for all his songs titles and I said I can't wait for a mainstream act to drop a tracklist with titles that are symbols? Well here's the latest one from Coldplay How tf is someone supposed to search for this ordinarily?

Rose "Payola" Nylund Bad Habits is 100% the lead single off Ed Sheeran's new album. He's done several interviews saying and I've never seen him push and perform a single the way he's done with this song. He's done at least 30 live performances of the song so far, if not more and he's still got more to do, so yeah.

Can we talk about how weird this decade has been so far? This decade has given many 2000s acts hits such as Mariah Carey, the Black Eyed Peas, Gwen Stefani, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Nelly, Kid Cudi, Keith Urban and Pink.

Keep an eye out on My Universe. That may eventually go to #1: Coldplay is really trying to make their song the "Savage Love" of 2021, aren't they?
