Imagine how fast butter would have melted before the pressure of a Hello or Uptown Funk sort of era. BTS doesn't have enough stans for massbuys to make an influence on that kind of level, especially with streaming and radio not being all that strong. It just happens that 2021 has been a period of rather weak peaks, which are ripe for exploitation. I’m more amazed at how El Perdon was able to survive 30 weeks on the chart below 50 in such a period when all 3 metrics were strong. I wonder what it’s peaks were on all 3 metrics.

Happy 63rd Birthday Billboard Hot 100! August 4th, 1958 - August 4th, 2021 Now it’s all making sense why Billboard is choosing to allow manipulation for clicks and hits over accuracy and integrity. It’s a boomer.

The thing is, Billboard did not need to give up to accuracy and integrity to get clicks this week. Lil Nas X dethroning BTS to earn a 2nd #1 debut this year (and 3rd #1 overall) at age 22 would have probably been a bigger story than Butter getting another week at #1.

Radio Songs: #49 - October 10, 2015 Digital Songs: XX (Latin Digital Songs: #1 - April 11, 2015) Streaming Songs: XX (Latin Streaming Songs: #1 - April 11, 2015) Incidentally, on October 10, 2015 (its 27th week of 30 on the Hot 100), the Latin Digital Songs and Latin Streaming Songs positions were both still #1.

It's ridiculous mourning the elimination of UGC from the formula but wanting to get rid of actual sales.
UGC of a few seconds should never have counted for the Hot100.

I'd argue that millions of people who aren't necessarily even fans of a given artist still hearing one of their songs due to how popular its become on social media is much more indicative of that song's mass appeal than a group of a few thousand fans wasting away their weekly savings just to propel their idols to one more week at #1

Personally, I don't mind that non-song UGC is gone. To me, those video compilations on YouTube that only play a fragment of the song grossly inflated songs' runs. Without it, OTR likely wouldn't have stayed at #1 past mid-July 2019, which makes more sense to me, as the song was old news by that point even with all the remixes.
The bigger issue here is not only that Billboard also took away logged-out YouTube views (and later song UGC), which are valid metrics for the Hot 100 IMO, but didn't think to compensate by increasing the power of paid streams and/or nerfing the website sales that had given Travis Scott and The Weeknd out-of-nowhere #1 hits. Instead, they left everything as is, making the #1 much more volatile as consumption of the biggest hits dwindled with the pandemic's rise.

I think not lol Based Willow getting to #1 over AIWFCIY during Christmas got more activity than AIWFCIY, it's possible that LNX beating BTS would have drawn more eyeballs. Sometimes, people just want to see something different over the status quo. As they said back in the day when Alabama football went 10-1 every year, the one loss was more noteworthy than any of the 10 wins. Willow being #1 during the Christmas season is more noteworthy than AIWFCIY getting another week at #1 during Christmas, just like I get the feel that the week someone beats out BTS (especially if it is a big artist) will become more noteworthy than another week of BTS remaining at #1.

BTS' 'Butter' Holds Atop Songs of the Summer Chart, DJ Khaled's 'Every Chance I Get' Debuts By Gary Trust 8/5/2021 Click to copy www.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/9610761/bts-butter-dj-khaled-every-chance-i-get-songs-of-the-summer-chart/"Every Chance I Get" has ranked in the Hot 100's top 40 since its debut in May. As BTS' "Butter" adds a ninth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the track keeps atop Billboard's Songs of the Summer chart (dated Aug. 7). The 20-position Songs of the Summer running tally tracks the most popular titles based on cumulative performance on the weekly streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot 100 from Memorial Day through Labor Day (this year encompassing charts dated June 12 through Sept. 11). At the end of the season, the top song of the summer will be revealed. "Butter" holds atop the Songs of the Summer chart over a steady top five. Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U"; Dua Lipa's "Levitating," featuring DaBaby; Doja Cat's "Kiss Me More," featuring SZA; and Justin Bieber's "Peaches," featuring Daniel Caesar and Giveon, remain at Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5, respectively. One title makes its first appearance on the summery summary: DJ Khaled's "Every Chance I Get," featuring Lil Baby and Lil Durk, at No. 20. The track bowed at its No. 20 high on the Hot 100 dated May 15 and has spent each of its weeks on the chart since in the top 40, ranking at No. 23 on the latest list. DJ Khaled placed two tracks on the season-ending 2017 Songs of the Summer chart: "I'm the One," featuring Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper and Lil Wayne, at No. 3 and "Wild Thoughts," featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, at No. 4. Check out the top 10 summer songs every year throughout the Hot 100's history (from the chart's start in 1958) and the latest Songs of the Summer survey in its entirety. Plus, SiriusXM's Billboard Top 500 Summer Hits countdown is available on-demand in the SiriusXM app through Aug. 13. The full chart, ranking the top 500 summer hits based on Hot 100 data from 1958 through 2020, will post on Billboard.com on Aug. 16.

What’s the current 30+ thread page count? Butter has to be clogging the list like an artery by now This is the 18th thread with at least 31 pages. 5 other threads had exactly 30. This thread is currently tied for 10th place with 1/25/2020. If we can get this to a 35th page, this thread would be in solo 10th place.
