To me, it's The Clash that were The Beatles of punk rock. They were certainly more varied than The Ramones (or the Pistols for that matter). They would experiment with other styles of music in their tracks.

I remember when some kid going by the username "twistedgothpunk" actually had the nerve to call The Clash posers.

Incubus seem to have a lot of respect and success with each release. I am really convinced that they didn't follow-up "Talk Shows". Since this thread has gone completely off-topic anyway... "Agoraphobia" was/is the official third single. The Epic website said so, and I've even seen "Agoraphobia" promo CD's on eBay. But there was no adds date for it for some reason, and needless to say it got practically no airplay.

One of the stupidest moves of 2004.Β That album was begging for a third hit. There were so many radio friendly songs on that album...Smile Lines and Pistola would've made GREAT 4th and 5th singles.

Green Day might get to #1 by tonight... If not, they'll definitely be there by tomorrow morning.

"Boulevard of Broken Dreams" continues its domination of the formats by topping the Active Rock chart! :o
If I'm not mistaking, I believe "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is the first single to top both Triple A and Active Rock! ;)
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Yeah, that too. I was just mentioning those two particular formats, because Active Rock is where you're most likely to hear metal, which is never friendly to Triple A ears, and Triple A is where you hear particularly acoustic adult rock and tame power pop. The two formats are practically antipoles of each other, and to my amusement, I just felt like bellowing, "Hey, look at this, the same single has topped both these distant formats!" Sincerely, Noah Eaton

If I'm not mistaken, How You Remind Me topped the Active Rock chart and also received considerable AAA airplay. Also, hits like Saliva's Rest In Pieces ranked high on the Active Rock chart as well. AAA radio has also been open to "harder" songs in the past, with songs like "Bent" topping the chart for multiple weeks. I think it would be unjust to label AAA stations as accomodating only acoustic or tamer rock hits as well it would be unjust to label Active Rock stations as "loud".

Is it too early to say this could challenge the record for weeks at #1 (16 weeks) I know it had a holiday that screwed it, but it's already got five weeks, a triple-digit bullet, and has over 1000 spins more then #2. "Cold" is closer to #26 than it is to BOBD.

a. Cold is such white-trash hit. It should be charting at #2 in the summer of 2001, not winter of 2005 with great artists like Modest, Killers, U2, and Jet.
b. how long is Blvd. going to be at #1. I love the song, but still, this unbelievable.

"How You Remind Me" got some Triple A play, but didn't top the chart. "Rest in Pieces" actually flopped, in my opinion. It could barely scrape the Top 20 of Alternative as a follow-up to a #1 hit ("Always") and never even touched the Triple A chart. Indeed both formats adopt some unique tracks, but generally I believe it fair to consider Active Rock the "louder" format and Triple A the "softer" format. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

#1 song on ALL 4 rock formats. Fastest rising song on Pop AND Hot AC. Yeah and despite that, it's not among the Top 3 overall greatest airplay gainers according to BB. What's wrong with this picture?

I believe this is the first time. I think you're right. I don't know how long each individual chart has been around, although I know they all date back to at least 1999. But I know for certain that it hasn't happened from 2000 until now.

you guys talk about what you want...im talkin about greenday.
this song got so old, so quick for me. everytime i listen to that CD i skip that song. the best song on that album is EASILY Jesus of Surbibea(SP?). i believe that Shes a Rebel has potential to be another hit, but ive heard Holiday is gonna be the next single.
this CD has nothing on Dookie. there was NOTHING wrong with dookie, and it had like 4 singles. everysong on dookie was good, Burnout, Havin a blast, chump, longview, welcome to paradise, sassafrass roots, She , basket case, Emenus sleepus, comin clean and F.O.D all rocked. (obsession?) and 4 of em were singles. i think dookie and insomniac, were the best, and will be the best, and warning will be the worst. (but still OK) American IDiot is right alng the lines of Nimrod and 39 smooth to me.
and it PISSES ME OFF when people all of the sudden 'know greenday', and this is the first time theyve heard them. WTF! you dont know greenday, dumbass. heh, sorry...im in a ranty mood today.

She's A Rebel? What makes that song better than BOBD? The fact that it's not as "soft"? Sorry, I like Dookie and all, but AI is on a higher level artistically, IMO. It's never too late to discover a band.

It's never too late to start writing their name as two words, either.
"She" was the fifth single from Dookie, additionally.
