Olivia may end up doing this for even more songs off her album because while I don't believe she sampled Misery Business on good 4 u, several songs off her album sound similar to older songs and after the precedent that was set with Blurred Lines, if the people who wrote the older songs take it to court, they'll win and she'll end up giving them writing credits.

Since day one, I’ve been anticipating that Elvis Costello would be coming after her for “Brutal” sounding extremely similar to his song “Pump it Up”.

^From what I've read, Elvis Costello is fine with the similarities between Pump It Up and Brutal.

Plus, it's not the first time someone has ripped off that song. Wild Wild West by Escape Club, a terrible #1 hit from 1988, also lifted its riffs and grooves directly from Pump It Up, and as far as I can tell there were never any direct legal issues with it.

Costello is super-chill about this stuff in general. When U2 even more blatantly ripped off "Pump It Up" for "Get On Your Boots", not only did he shrug it off, but he performed a mashup of the two songs with U2 on his TV show. It just sucks to see the great streaming numbers of Heat Waves get absolutely wasted because alt radio decided to drop it way too prematurely. It also sucks to see the format push Arcade despite its horrible streaming numbers.

If Heat Waves had Arcade’s radio numbers, it would be easily in the Top 10.
