Pred - +200m weekly streams. Ends up somewhere between Sour and Dangerous' debuts. Had it been a full week, it would've been the top debut of the year (til next week, of course).

Drake might have the album bomb but he won’t get the number 1. Okay, so Drake posting pregnant emojis... and now we have pregnant Little Mix members on the cover! I don't think that's coincident.

94,455,883 for the Global one. 2nd biggest on the platform. With streams from other songs he migh be the 4th artist to achieve 100M streams in a day on the platform. But those 45,408,473 streams in the US are the 5th biggest Spotify US debut. And not even a full day of tracking.

With that amount of songs, not surprised by Ye's total streams.

Could become Jay‘s first top 10 since Drunk In Love 8 years ago. Should i mention that part 2 songs will most likely be merged with originals, and we will see credits like this.
so someone else will get his first chart entry.

I think there needs to be a conversation about how Kanye ALWAYS gets a pass for literally anything. He is truly the Elon Musk of music, but I think the Independent review puts it into words better than I could: "What is impossible to forget – or forgive – is the presence of two of music’s most despised figures on “Jail Pt 2”. West warned of the involvement of Marilyn Manson and DaBaby when the pair appeared at his Chicago listening party, standing with him on the porch of the house that once belonged to his mother. Manson joins West for the refrain – “Guess I’m going to jail tonight” – in a moment so flagrantly mocking it brings bile to my throat. It’s unclear whether West is attempting some kind of comment on “cancel culture” or using these men as a religious metaphor: neither is excusable. Manson currently faces multiple lawsuits over allegations of sexual assault (he has denied all accusations against him), including by actor Evan Rachel Wood, who alleged that Manson groomed and abused her for years. DaBaby, who has become increasingly stubborn in the face of criticism over his ignorant and homophobic comments about people living with HIV, takes the “poor me” route as he raps: “I say one thing they ain’t like… Threw me out like I’m garbage/ And that food that y’all took off my table?/ You know that feed my daughters?” West is evidently surrounded by a team who are too scared or too exhausted to say “no”, but it speaks volumes of society’s apathy towards rape survivors that Universal would release this album with Manson on it. Donda’s dragged-out release has often felt as though West was deliberately testing them, along with his fans, critics, and his label. How far can he go before we snap? For me, his Manson “stunt”, if you can call it that, is it. West has aligned himself with a man whom at least 15 women have accused of rape, sexual assault, grooming, assault, torture, physical and psychological abuse. He stood on his late mother’s porch with Manson, sang with him, openly mocking those women who were brave enough to come forward. Critics often have to remind themselves to review the music, not to get caught up in the hyperbole or controversy surrounding the artist. But by involving Manson, West has made this impossible. Donda leaves a sour taste that no number of good beats, gospel choirs or church organs will cleanse. Zero stars."

Honestly what I'm most excited for in this album is that it could cement the presence of many artists on the charts like Baby Keem and Vory (who most people probably discovered through the record). Either way, I'm glad that Ye opened up to working with new names and experimenting with different styles, especially drill. I could actually see Off the Grid help in finally pushing a drill hit in the future (now, that is without saying that the absolute worst moment on the record was without doubt that Pop Smoke track which was just unnecessary)

All I have to say is "DONDA".
That "Believe What I Say" is the one. His break up/love/turmoil songs always hit omg. I hope it debuts high or at least charts.
Different strokes for different folks is really all I can say. Plus, it's hard to explain why you like an album if people already don't like the artist 🤷🏽

My bf wanted to listen to DONDA yesterday on our drive so we did and I’m so confused. What is it that makes this album so incredible? From my listen there’s little in the way of music value (melodies, layered instruments, etc, anything that involves any sort of musical composition). There’s little, if any, musical variation within a song. The beat changes very little: once it starts, that’s what you get for the next 4-6 minutes. He’s not much of a singer and when he does, his vocals are filtered through auto tune on nearly every song so even if it was neat on one, it stops sounding interesting after half a dozen songs. I don’t pick up on any flow in the raps, and if there is, it’s probably a featured rapper’s verse. So all the praise must be in the lyrics and somehow in their delivery? I realize I probably sound ignorant here, hence why I’m asking. What am I missing? What new ground is being broken? What new territory is it venturing into? Or what are the elements of this that make it so worthy of praise?

Or what are the elements of this that make it so worthy of praise? The moments, as Jon Denton said. The album lacks polish so the entirety didn't hit as hard, but when it lands it is immaculate. Jesus Lord hits like a train emotionally for example, Moon sounds literally like going to heaven, in a sense is reminiscent of Mr Rager or even Oblivion which were kind of aiming for a similar feeling musically, Hurricane is just very calming, like Reborn off KSG, Off the Grid is just hype as fuck, Jonah and God Breathed are really beautiful if I'm being honest with Vory... I think that this is an album made for laying in bed in a dark room, that's the setting in which I listened to it so that's probably why it hit me different, but I consider it his best solo work since TLOP, and if it gets polished and shortened (some of the tracks could even get dropped - Tell the Vision is unfinished grave robbery and Jail pt. 2 is a worse version of Jail with... much, much more questionable guest appearances). It isn't AOTY for me by any means, but it is very solid nonetheless.

Tbh I'd give it a 6. There were some great moments (Off the Grid, Jail, Ok Ok 2, etc), but Tell the Vision is quite possibly the worst song of the year, Jail pt 2 is REALLY testing my limits on guilt by association, and I feel like it's a bit fillery. Still the best solo album since AT LEAST TLOP. I do hope he goes for a different route on his next project - maybe drill? I just feel like this was a synthesis of Ye and JIK, and its time for new ground.

How can I explain DONDA? Well, after my first listen, DONDA is something I would like to call...ambitious.
This is definitely something Kanye worked on for so long, and I can feel the HUGE difference between this and JIK, Ye, or KSG. This feels like something Kanye would make, like MBDTF or Yeezus. I'd say that DONDA is like JIK, but if JIK actually sounded like a Kanye album.
Now, for the album itself? It's a hit or miss. Like other people said, it has its moments. When it's bad, it's bad. When it's good, it's amazing.
It's definitely not Yeezus, but it's still a good album. A 7 from me.

I consider the album only 23 tracks as the last 4 are basically bonuses since they are just different versions of other tracks. Still, I think 4 or so actual tracks should have been cut (my choices would be Tell the Vision, Jonah, maybe Junya and Remote Control (Kanye cut the Kid Cudi verse which was the highlight of that song)
