Yea, I’ve noticed it’s way more common for top 10 hits now to debut there instead of gradually climb the charts. But don’t worry, in a few weeks a song that did climb the charts is gonna enter the top 10!!

Aah, I miss back in 2017 and prior when most top 10s didn't debut there (especially 2015 and prior).

1999-2006 was a kii tho: the only non-American Idol songs that debuted in the top 10 were Coldplay's Speed of Sound, Eden Crush's Get Over Yourself, and Chris Gaines's Lost in You

I personally don’t have that big of an issue with big hits debuting in the top ten—it paints a more realistic picture of the songs’ popularity over time. i’m talking about songs like “deja vu” and “kiss me more,” not the non-hits that debut in the top ten like “permission to dance” and “trollz.” I think the idea of songs “climbing” or being “sleeper hits” is cool and all, but it’s 2021. we don’t need radio or word of mouth to promote a song and propel it up the hot 100. one viral tiktok and BOOM everyone’s using the song in their videos.

i don't think i've ever heard anyone mention bad habits despite it being #1 on radio, top ten on streaming and overall good sales. a song that has those metrics should be something people at least talk about. its a strange case

Well iTunes albums chart was definitely glitched Friday, considering there’s now 10 new releases ahead of Aaliyah (wouldn’t make sense for them to all magically sell more second day). I knew something seemed really odd about that though.

Update: Just finished listening to Fancy Like. I've been a Walker Hayes fan since the early 70s but after listening to Fancy Like, I have decided to stop supporting him. This is quite possibly, quite literally, sincerely, the worst possible music I have ever heard! My ears are bleeding, currently on my way to the nearest hospital.

That's so weird. I thought the last cease-and-desist a couple months ago made it clear that TOTC and everyone else doing weekly and YE predictions could continue them so long as they didn't publicize "official" stats from Nielsen? Did they reverse that decision after the backlash they got from the BTS article and the whole Dance 7 situation?

Probably not. The only way the record can be broken is if someone debuted at #1 on the radio charts, and if Born This Way and Hello did not do it, I highly doubt it will ever happen.
