One album didn’t reach its full potential, therefore his other unrelated album shouldn’t be allowed to.

If Ashres prediction is correct, Butter will need to gain 82% in points during this tracking week to catch Stay, which would mean doubling sales and streams. For context, SYT gained ~70% the week of the Ariana remix. I would give Butter a better chance 3 weeks ago, but it’s time has passed.

In that sense, I think so as well. I just don't think it's a great song. I like Kendrick's parts of the song but that's about it. That aside, it's a great look for Baby Keem, who is still trying to breakthrough in the mainstream market. I actually wish Kendrick's first comeback single would be a solo effort off his next album but here we are.

Dude, you really need to let go of this idea of a song/album reaching #1 being the end all be all. The only significance a #1 on the charts holds at this point is it's novelty. It means absolutely nothing else beyond that point.

Post Malone's "Stoney" is one of the biggest albums of the streaming era and one of the most streamed albums of all time and it never reached #1 — it peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200. "Congratulations," a single off the album, peaked at #8 on the Hot 100 but it's certified 11x Platinum in the US and has over 1.4B streams on Spotify. There are songs which spent multiple weeks at #1 and are yet to achieve either of those things.

Doja Cat's last album, "Hot Pink," peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200 but it's never left the Billboard 200 since it's debut (this is a really huge deal if you know how many albums chart for less than 20-30 weeks before falling off) and will be receiving a Platinum certification soon.

You saying that Doja Cat's latest album era is anything but successful shows your ignorance. She has 3 top 20 hits from the album and even more notable, all 3 of them are projected to be in the top 20 on this week's Hot 100 chart simultaneously. The album is steady in the top 10 and marks a commercial growth from her last album. Who cares about Kiss Me More or any other singles off the album going #1 when they could outdo several #1 singles in longevity on the charts, which is ultimately more rewarding?

Doja has developed sensitives as a hitmaker. She'll be fine. If she doesn't get a #1 hit with this album, she can always get that with another album or on some other collab.

You seem determined to label anything that doesn't reach #1 as unsuccessful but if someone calls Take My Breath a flop now, you'll probably pass out. Cut it out. You know enough about charts to have more well-rounded and informed opinions than the ones you're fond of giving.

Let me clarify my comments on Planet Her: It feels like the 3rd biggest album of 2021 (behind Dangerous and Sour), but it’s not going to rank there due to some questionable decisions by Doja/her label. It’s still going to end up ranked in the lower end of the Top 10 of the YE Billboard 200, which isn’t bad at all, but it will still rank below some albums it shouldn’t have, and that’s what’s frustrating about all of this.

Let's say Billie sold 500 albums less last week and Doja had taken #1. That wouldn't really affect it's "lower half of the top 10" ranking on the Year End because it's all about sales and consistency, not peak.

Yup, Billboard  Year End is based on Album Units not some inverse point formula like the G.O.A.T. lists.

If Planet Her went to #1 this week it would still make the lower end of the Top 10 of the YE 200. Going #1 for one week doesn't mean it's going to shoot to #3 on the YE predictions.

Also what does any of this have to do with Halsey not getting a #1 album?

If Halsey gets or does not get a #1 album peak, it will be on the basis of the marketing for that album, not the need to ration out #1 weeks to worthy albums that don't have them yet.

That streak will almost certainly come to an end either on the 9/4 chart with Fancy Like, or the 9/11 chart with You Right and Essence.

Even if you look at the songs that topped the charts, you had eight songs number one debuts this year and other than Mood and Save Your Tears, every song that hit 1 this year was a top 10 debut, I would love to see a song top the charts by climbing there.
