16. Disco Nights (Rock-Freak) - GQ

Formed in The Bronx, they were first known as Sabu & The Survivors, then as The Rhythm Makers. They later changed their name to GQ (for Good Quality) at the suggestion of their manager. The first single under the new name turned out to be their biggest hit, and was one of their 2 Top 20s on the Hot 100. It was also the first soul charttopper for the Arista label.

Fun fact: one of the members, Keith "Sabu" Crier, was the uncle of Keith Sweat.

15. Reunited - Peaches & Herb

Peaches & Herb began in the 1960s, consisting of Francine "Peaches" Barker and Herb Fame, hitting the charts with songs like "Close Your Eyes" and "For Your Love". Barker semi-retired after a couple of years due to fatigue from touring and was replaced with Marlene Mack ("Peaches" #2) on stage. Herb eventually retired the act in the early '70s and became a police officer. It didn't last long, however, as he had the itch to get back into music. At the suggestion of Van McCoy, Herb met Linda Greene, who would become "Peaches" #3. It was under this line-up that Peaches & Herb saw their greatest success, including their biggest hit which topped the soul and Hot 100 charts as well as the Canadian chart.

14. Bustin' Loose - Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers

Born in North Carolina and raised in Washington, DC, Chuck Brown was known as The Godfather Of Go-Go. With The Soul Searchers, he has his biggest hit and only Hot 100 entry with "Bustin' Loose". Nelly interpolated the song in his 2002 #1 hit "Hot In Herre".

Chuck passed away from multiple organ failure in 2012.

Interesting fact: he served 8 years in prison after being convicted of murder, though he maintained that it was self-defense.
