I wonder if “Heat Waves” is becoming the new “Sweater Weather,” but during opposite seasons? It’s kind of interesting to see songs have longevity just based on titles that have to do with the seasons. Even though these hits weren’t planned, I’m sure it’s going to result in a lot more calculated attempts in the future which will probably be annoying and cringe.

On a non-chart related note, I wonder how many will actually pay for this:

I've given MONTERO 4 listens now and while I think I still need a few more listens to truly finalize my thoughts. But I think I can comfortably say not only is this the best mainstream album of the year - I like it even more than CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST - out of the hundreds of albums I've listened to this year (about 448 to be exact) this is easily one of the best albums of the year, a lock for my Top 10.
And I implore everyone, even those who don't like Lil Nas X, to at least give it one FULL listen. At least give him a chance because it's disappointing to see people right him off. He is proving he's more than just shock tactics and controversy.

J. Cole released a new song which uses the same beat as Pipe Down This beat is another level. Wondering who is singing in the song? I've been wondering the same thing. It's either a song was sampled on the track or someone provided background vocals — either way, I can't find any information about it online.

Yeah I checked multiple times on whosampled.com but I didn't saw anything. Probably are songwriters singing in the background.

Youngboy hasn't even dropped da album but it's #2 on AM. His album will do a lot of damage on Apple Music. It should easily replace CLB at #1 and he may push most, if not all of Drake's songs out of the top 10 on AM. I also don't know why some people online are fond of talking down on his numbers. His last album debuted at #1 with 126K units, his latest album may very well surpass that so I have him debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200. He's only 21 and has a lot of personal/legal troubles (he has 8 children and is currently in jail), but he's easily the biggest streaming act in the U.S. after Drake and I can only see him getting bigger. He just needs to get certain things in order so he can focus more on his career.

I don’t see Youngboy getting much bigger than his current standing lol. He is not really a rapper who can crossover to the mainstream spotlight like Drake/Kendrick/Travis… he does not have any type of crossover appeal in his music. It’s very much for a specific Rap demographic and all those in that demo already know him at this point.

It’s very much for a specific Rap demographic and all those in that demo already know him at this point. Once upon a time, people would have said the same thing about rappers like Young Thug, Future and Lil Uzi Vert. I'll even throw in Migos into that group of names — yet all those rappers had no issues crossing over when they were ready to do so. YoungBoy simply has too many things in his personal life preventing him from working on really building up his career but he's already more successful than each of the names I just mentioned were at his age. At 21, he has already built a loyal following and he's been outstreaming some of the biggest artists in the U.S. since 2018. Most Streamed Artists of 20181. Drake - 10.4B 2. Post Malone - 6.8B 3. XXXTentacion - 5.9B 4. Eminem - 4.6B 5. Migos - 4.1B 6. YoungBoy Never Broke Again - 3.8B 7. Travis Scott - 3.6B 8. Ariana Grande - 3.3B 9. Lil Baby - 3.0B 10. Imagine Dragons - 3.0B
Most Streamed Artists of 2019 1. Post Malone - 6.6B 2. Drake - 6.3B 3. Billie Eilish - 4.9B 4. Ariana Grande - 4.9B 5. YoungBoy Never Broke Again - 4.8B 6. Juice WRLD - 3.9B 7. XXXTentacion - 3.6B 8. Taylor Swift - 3.5B 9. Eminem - 3.4B 10. Khalid - 3.2B
Most Streamed Artists of 2020 1. Drake - 5.9B 2. Juice WRLD - 5.5B 3. YoungBoy Never Broke Again - 4.7B 4. Lil Baby - 4.2B 5. Taylor Swift - 4.1B 6. Lil Uzi Vert - 4.1B 7. Post Malone - 3.9B 8. Pop Smoke - 3.7B 9. The Weeknd - 3.6B 10. DaBaby - 3.6B
So far this year, he's the 4th most streamed artist in the U.S with over 3B streams and he will likely surpass Morgan Wallen for the third spot before the year is over. Obviously, if he doesn't take certain steps/make similar efforts to go mainstream like the other names I mentioned did, it'll never happen for him but just the fact that he's already this established as a streaming force in the U.S. with none of the structure the biggest acts in the U.S have career-wise, says a lot about his potential.

Groovy Nielsen/BuzzAngle year-end reports. 2016201720182019For 2020, since neither BuzzAngle nor Nielsen published year-end reports on the most streamed artists of the year, I used Rolling Stone's Artist 500 chart. www.rollingstone.com/charts/artists/year-end/HDD also published a 2020 year-end report.

YNBA does very well on Youtube and releases LOADS of mixtapes and songs. It's definitely quantity over whatever quality means here. But cannot see him ever getting over 200k/week without triple album or gimmicks like that.

I remember seeing this last week and being very surprised. kind of odd that his chart success isn't on par with the overall consumption. he has several multiplatinum singles that peaked in the lower half of the Hot 100.

But cannot see him ever getting over 200k/week without triple album or gimmicks like that. He doesn't need gimmicks, though. So far, he has released 3 albums and only 5 of his mixtapes are available on streaming services. He doesn't have any hits on those projects so it shouldn't matter how many he has out. The point remains that his catalog is consistently being consumed by his fanbase (he charts 2/3 albums on the Billboard 200 every week). Future and Chris Brown have way more music out than him and their catalog doesn't pull anywhere close to the same numbers so the amount of songs he has out is inconsequential. He really doesn't need 200K units to have the #1 album next week. 135-150K units should be enough.
