I'm skeptical either LNX song makes it. The new song was fine, but CMBYN and IB were way better. And the video didn't have the same wow factor, for me at least. IB has a better shot, but 120 points is a lot to make up. If IB loses out on #1, I’d much rather it be to Fancy Like or a Drake song. It would feel so dirty for it to be blocked out by Stay, especially the way it was blocked by Butter earlier. I like Stay, but it’s already had its run at #1 and keeping its iTunes discount for an 8th week is totally unnecessary.

8+ hours since the release of Montero and Lil Nas X currently has 9 songs in the top 200 of the US Apple Music Song Chart, while the album is #3 on the US Apple Music Album Chart behind Certified Lover Boy & Donda. Current Positions:#13. Industry Baby (with Jack Harlow) #66. Montero (Call Me By Your Name) #78. Scoop (feat. Doja Cat) #82. Dead Right Now #84. That's What I Want #89. Dolla Sign Slime #142. One of Me (feat. Elton John) #181. The Art of Realization #194. Lost in the Citadel
Massive gains should happen in the next 6-12 hours.

"MONTERO" is a really good album, it's really hard to imagine that LNX started with "Old Town Road" He didn't convince me enough back then on his first album that he was gonna stick around. But OMG he has really put effort and direction into his sound and is now a popstar to me as there is certainly room to grow further. The embracing of guitars and crossing into different genres is what makes me want to go and listen to the full album when I have some time to do that. He has join the ranks of A Listers IMO. As he quickly follows Doja Cat and Olivia Rodrigo to become top ten hit makers. Aside from this, finally this week has some good material to get on board with.. ironically the last good song I got hyped for was Industry Baby.

The horse movie came out in June and flopped. She dropped the song 'cuz the original was going viral on TikTok and being streamed a ton as a result, and she said NOT ON MY WATCH!.gif.

Monetero was ok I guess (from tracks I've heard he's put 3x effort than dat bad debut EP). But Wasn't feeling it to stick through da whole album. But liked sun goes down
There's rumor dat Frank Ocean's album is being brought, if we're lucky we might get it sooner than we think.

I liked LNX's album. Pleasant listen specially after that shit EP he did first.
I'd say IB going #1 is more likely to happen than the third single doing it, if only because it's already kinda close.

Lmao dremoolus, I've specifically mentioned my opinion & comparision to debut EP is only based on tracks I've heard (instead of judging whole project/track without even listening to s**t like u) yea I skipped a few tracks in da end coz I'm not into this music style. Now go find a new irrelevant drama to vent here(which I'm sure you'll like you always do) byeee

It looks like they're going to push That's What I Want after Industry Baby which means we might get another pop-punk hit.

If "MONTERO" debuts at #1 on Billboard 200, will Lil Nas X be the 2nd openly gay musician to debut at the top, after Adam Lambert?

If "MONTERO" debuts at #1 on Billboard 200, will Lil Nas X be the 2nd openly gay musician to debut at the top, after Adam Lambert? No, there've been other gay acts to debut on top since 2012. Kevin Abstract of BROCKHAMPTON - iridescence (2018) Halsey - hopeless fountain kingdom (2017) Lady Gaga - Cheek to Cheek (2016), Joanne (2016), Chromatica (2020) Matty Healy of The 1975 - I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It (2016) Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco - Death of a Bachelor (2016), Pray for the Wicked (2018) Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi of Pentatonix - Pentatonix Christmas (2017) Kesha - Rainbow (2017) Invasion of Privacy - Cardi B (2018) Frank Ocean - blonde (2016) Tyler, the Creator - IGOR (2019), CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST (2021)

Apologies since I wasn't able to add this before you quoted but Tyler the Creator went number one this year. But at least we can say two black gay men debuted at #1 with different albums. Definitely a win for the community.

Can we really call bisexuals gay? I'm a bit confused. if you use the word "gay" as an umbrella term for the LGBTQ+ community, like dremolus interpreted it, bisexuals are naturally included. I take it the original question was referring to "gay" in the "man loving man" sense, though.

The degree Lil Nas X leads openly with his sexuality and the way he reflects it in his visuals and art is a form of empowering representation I haven't really seen from any other "mainstream" gay artist personally. He is truly breaking down barriers in a different way than others who came before him. I love to see it and would love to see him hit the top with his debut, which is just an all around great/solid body of work! It's not only nice to see an artist come out, but truly embrace and explore his sexuality so unapologetically, proudly, and openly.

I take it the original question was referring to "gay" in the "man loving man" sense, though. I was a bit worried it was strictly for gay men but even excluding bi artists, we'd still Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Frank Ocean, and Tyler having gone to the top so Lil Nas will join good company. And hopefully other gay acts can debut at the top as well.
