I think that that comes from the fact their fanbases are very diverse. Post appeals to a wide demographic ranging from soccer moms, through rock and pop listeners, to the hip-hop crowd and even young kids. Abel attracts mainly hip-hop fans (while being a pop-R&B artist), with a sizeable chunk of his audience being pop fans, R&B listeners and slightly older millenials who discovered him early on. Well said!

Isn't the data available pre-chart release now still more than was available when he was a kid and started chart watching? I started chart watching in the days when we literally had no data before the Hot 100 was released. hot 100 predictions altogether are about to go extinct. that's gonna make stans buying #1s from here on very self-dependent. tbh im not fully opposed to it, but it was nice to have a general idea of the chart breakdowns How will we not still have that? We still have a solid idea of how the sales, radio, and streaming metrics will look. It's literally only been the past few years that people have had very specific and accurate predictions. We are now back to where we were for years, and people can still have a general idea of how things will look.

Aside from Blinding Lights, Monster Mash has held up better than the rest of the Halloween songs on the iTunes chart. MM is still at #21 on the iTunes chart, while Thriller is already below BL on that chart.

Is The Weeknd aiming at the highest number of singles ever released during one year or what? Weeknd wouldn't even be top 10 or maybe even Top 20 lmao. There've been more artists who've released more singles in one year Olivia being the prime example.

Since we've found ourselves talking about singles, can we all list a year when our favorite artist(s) released/appeared on the most singles? I'll go first: Drake - 15 singles (2018).

Yeah, I said that when I didnβt remember that the Weeknd had a bunch of features that either came and went, or sat with Doja and continued to quietly exist as a decent hit. I personally donβt think heβs any more over exposed than other big names of the last few years. Just because Blinding Lights broke longevity records and Save Your Tears went on to have an incredibly long chart life, suddenly he needs to go away for a while. Meanwhile, Ariana had two back to back albums, followed by a couple one-off singles and collaborations and a third album in just over a two-year span, with varying levels of success. I think overexposure is a real thing and The Weeknd could very well benefit from a real break, but somehow on Pulse his name as become synonymous with overexposure as if itβs his brand and heβs the only one guilty of it. I donβt really get it.

As atg pointed out earlier in the thread, itβs weird how Abel has had all these singles out the last 6 months and the only metric theyβve done well on is radio, while the only one that remains strong on all metrics is BL.

After Dawn he'll be gone for a long time though with the show so maybe he's just putting out as much music as possible for fans to enjoy during his time away.

Fair enough, you don't want the song to overstay its welcome. But look at the margins it has over any other song. The next other song that is rising is Easy On Me, which down at #4 more than 30 million audience impressions lower than Stay and barely rising at present. What song do you propose will overcome those margins in a timely fashion?

The song held the same position as previous week regardless of itβs βtrueβ position that week - it had to remain stationary. Iβm rare cases a song would move up 1 spot without a bullet, but it was assumed that it actually belonged there.

Even if it slides back for a bit, it's already doing extremely well. In general we're seeing all of the holidays get bigger each year; or at least seeing that data is catching up to it. I also think in the midst of Covid and such, people just need various holidays as a mental boost.
