I love to see Xmas songs on charts, I just think it'll be boring to see them on every decade-end chart.
Imagine:
2020s #1 AIWFCIY #2 RATCT #3 Jingle Bell Rock 2030s #1 AIWFCIY #2 RATCT #3 Santa Tell Me 2040s #1 AIWFCIY #2 Underneath The Tree #3 RATCT

The Hot 100 shouldn’t have recurrent rules whatsoever. If an old-ass song is still popular enough to rank in the top 100, then it should stay on the chart until it falls off organically… or comes back on organically. Also, fun fact: old holiday songs get popular during the holidays. They should chart on the Hot 100 because they’re popular. Billboard could/should create a separate chart of just newer songs to appease people who like recurrent rules… but the Hot 100, the literal granddaddy of song popularity charts, should be an actual representation of what’s popular in a given week.
Like, imagine if Spotify or whoever said, “We’re gonna count this new song’s streams, but we’re gonna stop counting this old song’s streams because it’s too old.” That would be dumb, right? But it’s equally as dumb as forcing a song to drop off a popularity chart because it’s “too old”.

"Christmas songs shouldn't chart because the clog up the charts" "All Too Well isn't a legitimate #1 because it had sales" "Songs shouldn't hang around the Top 40 if they're not relevant"
Man just want to rewrite the charts until it's not accurate

"All Too Well isn't a legitimate #1 because it had sales" Being predicted to fall 14 spots to #18 in Week 3 proves my point that All Too Well was a one-week fluke. Meanwhile, EOM is going to cruise to another week at #1 and Stay will still be at #2 in Week 21. If ATW was a legitimate #1, it would still be in the Top 10. ATW’s week at #1 is no different than Butter’s 10th week at #1 in my book.

How is ATW considered a one week fluke? Week 1: 450+ points Week 2: ~200 points Week 3: <150 points Explain the first week number if no gimmicks were used.

Also aren't 5 Christmas songs jumping in front of it 💀. A fall from 4-13 isn't "Omg so fake hit" territory. And it's still pulling in well over 1m streams with all versions so the comparison LITERALLY has no weight

"All Too Well isn't a legitimate #1 because it had sales" If ATW was a legitimate #1-There is no if. It had 27M streams, it was the biggest song in America that week. It had streams that no BTS song ever has had.

"…they clog up the charts" "Songs shouldn't hang around the Top 40 if they're not relevant" Yes! I’m full agreement with you, as these are the dumbest arguments (in my opinion) that we see all the time. Not relevant?? They’re in the freaking top 40! Clog up the charts?? It’s a chart that ranks music popularity! I’m sorry that a really old song is still more popular than your favorite artist’s new song but it is what it is… that’s why the chart exists in the first place!

At this point, how is the biggest song of all time not a Christmas song?
Basically, holiday music is a genre, like pop, rock, rap, country, only it’s on a schedule. If you remove holiday songs, may as well petition to have country removed next because you don’t like how they clog up the 40-60 region of the Hot 100.

If so, it’s legit. How can you keep harping on the same INCORRECT point over and over? You’re actually wrong. There’s no other way around it.

At this point, phi has to be trolling because no one can be this dense. He’s either trolling or willingly not willing to have a conversation with people when he makes his points, which should also fall under trolling. Should he be warned or banned at this point?

ATW was a legitimate #1 whether you like it or not. It was already locked for #1 before the additional versions were released, no matter how much you want to ignore that. Of course a re-recorded song from nearly 10 years ago isn't going to be dominate and stay at #1. Who would expect that? Especially for a 10 minute song. We have all had enough of your nonsense. Do you just not care that nobody takes your seriously whatsoever?

The particular song was awaited for years by the fanbase. When it ultimately came out, it had a broad audience ready to consume/buy the song in the first days.

Probably wasting energy here as this requires an actual response from phi eagles Legitimate number ones in one week are legitimate for any week they hit number one regardless of what happens in later weeks. It hurts my brain to wonder how anyone who posts here would try to argue that ATW is not a legit number one in week one because of where it may or may not chart in week 3 I will again suggest phieagles either engage in discussions or if not Create your own charts and post in the member content forum like many others do. That way you can have your own chart rules and post whatever you want. Another suggestion. Rather than post one nonsensical comment after another without being willing to discuss Take a break. Listen to some music. Enjoy the holidays

Hype from the fanbase got it mainstream attention, the MV pushed that further and as did the SNL performance.... All of which happened in the first week. The album got incredible critical reception with ATWTMV being by far the most well received so SHOCKINGLY people outside of the rabid fanbase streamed it week 1.... Big releases from big artists usually peak week 1, so it's fairly obvious that it's biggest week would be the first week.... What even is the argument here??? "This song was SO popular on it's launch, why isn't still as popular????!!😤" Like every single number one won't be by Adele or a Stay or Good 4 U

Y'all still entertaining that one poster doing the most? Any chart watcher objectively analyzing ATW's performance will say it has done great.
Ignore them.

Are y’all serious? ATW is a 10 min song that is an extended version of the original song that is almost 10 years old. It was shocking to see it hold its ground in the top 5 on its second week. Even if it falls to #18 or lower that’s still impressive on its own that it could still be at the upper half of the charts, especially when the GP’s attention span to song duration these days is about a 2-3 min average. Even if we count the re-recorded original song that’s still a 5 min song.

Wouldn't allowing holiday songs to chart on the Hot 100 but not including them on the All-Time list (or only including their first year or something) achieve the goal? Why did we go thru a whole nother page of discussion when this guy already nailed it? How about in the future they release 2 all-time charts - One that includes holiday music and one that doesn't

(For example) If a 60-week-old song ranks at #28 or a 25-week-old song ranks at #53, why not just let them rank? The age of a song should be irrelevant if it's still, you know, relevant

Christmas songs are still songs. The reality is that Christmas music is far more known than non-chrirstmas music. I get the argument but in my opinion they should definitely be allowed. As annoying as it might seem to traditional music fans

Based on lippredicts' and ChartEssentials' predictions, there will be 18 Christmas songs in the top 50 (5 in the top 10).
