"AIWFIY" ended the chart week just ahead of "RATCT" on Spotify, and it led it all week on Amazon, Apple, and YouTube. So, where are these sites getting "RATCT" pulling ahead? I can see it leading on Pandora, but is that even a big source of streams?

Posting Twitter stan reactions is truly the mark of credibility and not at all a desperate and pathetic attempt by a grown man for validation

At this point you have either blocked phieaglestroll or you're part of the problem (by feeding him with attention for his terrible predictions and the power to have the worst takes ever on every single topic).

Talk of the charts predictions minus holiday songs (aka the only chart I care about for the next few weeks):
1. Easy On Me 2. Stay 3. Industry Baby 4. Heat Waves 5. Need To Know 6. Shivers 7. Bad Habits 8. Smokin’ out the Window 9. Cold Heart 10. abcdefu
I’m really torn on this whole holiday songs charting thing. At first, I liked it as it’s reflective of what’s popular now. But with it just being the same 10 or so songs every year and becoming extremely predictable, I wish they would find another way to represent them. Like have a normal hot 100 chart and then a hot 100 + holiday songs chart (not a separate holiday chart for just holiday songs). I feel like that would be a good compromise.

Well, like I said, I’m torn. Yes I want it to be accurate of what people are listening to, but I also don’t feel like there should be default songs that take up the top 10 for 3 weeks of the year just because of the season. I think I’d feel differently if new Christmas/holiday songs were released every year and would compete for those top 10 spots, but so far it’s just the same 25+ year old songs.

RE holiday entries- it was/is nice to see the classics chart and reach high positions, etc. but at this point, there's not much variety in how they chart annually, especially the ones that almost be default rank the highest. As someone mentioned prior, the Hot 100 has not always been the "most accurate" chart it could be because of varying rules through the years- and that at one time included the exclusion of holiday songs (with rare exceptions).
Not to mention that a lot of the streams likely come from users selecting playlists and not the songs themselves- one could argue that's similar to radio airplay and leaving a station on (though radio-audience measurement isn't as precise as having exact streaming numbers). Nonetheless, it gets to be a bit much. We'll see how many old holiday songs populate the top 50 on the Jan. 1 chart.

Doesn’t really explain it though. You seem uncomfortable with the repetition but the chart is merely a reflection of what people like. During Christmas, people feel nostalgic and want the repetition. You’re looking at it from a mechanical perspective, which I think is common for chart followers but if you’re able to take a step back and account for what the chart is measuring, you realize it doesn’t really make sense.

New Christmas/holiday songs ARE released every year… tons of them! However, that doesn’t negate the fact that the older holiday classics are typically always going to be more popular than newer ones. People like familiarity and tradition around the holidays, and the old songs are familiar and traditional. Sorry it’s boring as a chart watcher, but like I said before, the chart exists to tell you what’s popular… it’s doing its job!

I believe the chart rules are fine, even the recurrency ones. AIWFCIY is hitting 52 weeks this year probably, so it's gonna have a harder time re-entering next year, which is fine. Maybe we'll get the rare week where Brenda Lee charts at like #30 and Mariah isn't there.
I think they should lower sales' impact on the formula though. "Butter", the longest running #1 of the year missed top 10 on the year end chart... That will look weird at first glance until people do some research and find out why it even spent more than 1 week at the top.

Assuming it charts through the week of January 8, 2022, AIWFCIY is going to reach only 51 weeks this season. If it has the exact same chart run next year, it’ll be back in the top 25 by its 53rd week. So realistically, assuming no further changes in formula or what songs are allowed to chart, the first year where it would need to hit the top 25 in order to re-enter would be in 2023.

I'm not even worried any more about Butter being the longest running #1 on the Hot 100 this year. If anyone looks deeper into the metrics, they will see that Stay is clearly the biggest song of 2021. It was the fastest song to 1 billion streams on Spotify, had the highest radio peak of any 2021 song, and the longest running #1 on the pop charts of the 21st century.

Another confusing moment about phieagles latest obsession ---
Continuously Promoting 'Stay' being the biggest hit of 2021
The chart based on the title of the thread he is posting in, doesn't even have it in the top 10
YE Hot 100 top 12
1 Levitating 2 Save Your Tears 3 Blinding Lights 4 Mood 5 Good 4 U 6 Kiss Me More 7 Leave The Door Open 8 Drivers License 9 Montero (Call Me By Your Name) 10 Peaches 11 Butter 12 Stay

I can see a case for Stay being one of, if not the biggest hit of 2021 worldwide. It even smashed in Japan which is rare nowadays for western music and it seems to be unstoppable on streaming. Perhaps not on the YEC but definitely in "real life"
