Ugh I swear if Lainey is now blocked after Carly was on Billboard… I don’t understand after how tomatogate became a thing years ago things haven’t changed much. If low-impact single from male artists can hit #1, there’s no reason why two of the buzziest female artists at the moment can’t do so. This. Like the only time where it's felt "fair" is last fall when Luke Combs came up short of #1 with "The Kind of Love We Make" because of the vice grip radio had on "She Had Me at Heads Carolina" and "You Proof." But that feels like the only major example of an otherwise obvious #1 from a male just conveniently missing out, whereas every other time everybody gets to play nice and non-eventful #1s by males hit the top even when they don't deserve to. The sexism with reaching #1 on the chart is so blatantly obvious. |

We are still in a much better place now than we were in the “tomato gate” era. Back then, we would be lucky to have 1 woman in the top 20. Now we have two in the top 5 (will be back to back #1s on Mediabase at least), Lainey has another song in the top 10 and Megan Mahoney is already in the top 20. I still believe in “Everything She Ain’t” can keep going strong and “Light In The Kitchen” is off to a great start.
Songs have gone to #1 on R&R/Mediabase and been blocked at #2 or #3 on Billboard regularly since I started following the charts in the early 1990s.

I will say if Lainey Wilson can gain what Carly Pearce did this week on Billboard (5 million in audience) and Bailey Zimmermann breaks even I do think "Heart Like A Truck" can nab both charts for #1. Here's hoping. I feel like Lainey will end up getting there on Billboard especially after Carly fell short. I think there’s a lot of people pushing for Lainey to take both charts as she would be the first female artist to score a solo #1 on both charts since her own “Things A Man Oughta Know”. |

Either Lainey or Bailey is gonna get multiple weeks at #1 with Dylan Scott hosting CCUSA this coming weekend. Lainey is pushing until April 3rd so she either hits #1 this week and only this week on Mediabase/Billboard and that'll be it. |

Looking at the last few updates, It looks like that the push for Lainey didn’t start until Sunday instead of Friday. I’m not as confident for “Wait In The Truck” to get to #1 on Billboard as I was before. |

Unless the updates change, I really don’t know if is see this hitting #1 on BB. Her label's max spins advertisement emphasized "for a #1 on 4/3", so I have a feeling they're going for it although these last few updates have been kind of underwhelming. It would be unfortunate to see this peak at #2 like "What He Didn't Do". |

Yep this song peaks at #2 on Billboard as suspected. Shame it couldn't make it to #1 on Billboard, but this song has seen a lot of success for Lainey Wilson and I do think this song and how big it was helped to cement Lainey's place in the genre.

Yeah it could happen with "Last Night" by Morgan Wallen (that song is gonna be a monster on radio once "One Thing At A Time" is done and no song is safe). I do get why it's tiring, but all of these female songs success speak for themselves regardless of hitting #1 on Billboard (Mediabase is the chart the industry takes more serious anyway) so it doesn't bug me as much as maybe it should. Then again I'm probably weird for thinking that. |
