First Class isn't great, is it? Yet another one of those songs that rely so heavily on samples that they just make me want to listen to the original instead (like "Wild Thoughts"). And I never cared much for "Glamorous" either, so there.

Don't Think Jesus isn't a local release so I don't know yet if it's the expected CCM garbage we're fearing, a mediocre song tangentially about faith, or an actual sincere and good song. I guess we'll all know at around the same time.

And I never cared much for "Glamorous" either, so there. It's really not great but it's not bad either, it sounds like it has summer written all over it and the sample gives it a pop crossover. However I feel about this, I sure as hell will take it over Heat Waves at the top spot.

3(=) Imagine Dragons - Enemy From League Of Legends 80.00(+0.61) enemy is probably getting pretty close to its radio peak. how high do we think it can peak on the main chart? i thought it had a shot at #1 before, but now it'll depend a lot on the descent of First Class / As It Was.

Enemy has more room to grow on Pop than Big Energy (which has now hit #1). I expect Enemy to be #1 on radio by the end of the next tracking period. As for the Hot 100 chart, I think it will have a hard time climbing above the #5 spot that it already has, as new music is becoming more active. I really think last week was its best chance to sneak in a week at #3 or #4.

I wonder if the kid laroi single will be a dud now that the attempt at controversy was faked If it is a dud, it will have nothing to do with some Taylor swift fans being mad, or anything Twitter related. Twitter is irrelevant in the music industry and has 0 bearing on how big an artist is, or how well a song will do. It’s been proven time and time Again. Tiktok/Instagram is where it’s at. I predict a without you type hit.

Going viral, though, on any platform doesn't guarantee a hit, either. It's a case-by-case basis, on how that translates to streaming, radio, etc.

I’m sure it’s nothing but something like that could negatively affect his credibility and authenticity. At least be enough of a risk that I’m surprised he tried to make it out to be some diss at scooter. http://instagram.com/p/CcVuzpKOZ_2

TKL gains far more publicity about his new single (positive) than the like the less than 1% that will actually care about the 'tweet' scandal - most of whom probably weren't fans anyway. Smart move by TKL's team - probably SB's idea - to break through the noise.

So, if Laroi ran the stunt by Scooter, did Scooter sign off on it then? If so, why backtrack? Weird story.

Imagine going through all of this trouble to make a pointless stunt and it ends up debuting at #2, #11 or not even in the top 20 at all.

Smart move by TKL's team - probably SB's idea - to break through the noise. That’s the thing. An attempt to make something out of it involving scooter for some ‘publicity’ was weak anyway because, who would care enough about it? It’s the direct lie that makes me question whoever thought of it as an idea, because it wasn’t even a good idea, and now I’m going to question everything else he does as a result, all over something that was weak ass anyway. Not a smart move at all. But, luckily for him, it’s not a big enough deal for anyone to even notice or care so it shouldn’t hurt the song itself when it drops. I just think it’s an interesting example of something not to do to promote a single.

First Class' weekly first week US Spotify numbers ended up slightly below the corresponding ones that As It Was managed last week. I wouldn't be surprised if the former ended up below the latter within the next few days.

The current #1 on Pop radio has been charting on the format for 16 weeks. The current #2 on Pop radio has been charting on the format for 17 weeks. The youngest top two in years months tbh Yes, but some of that is also because songs stick around at the top awhile, whereas at country they hit #1 and then fall off immediately. The point is that Country and Top 40 work in very different ways. On average (there are always exceptions, of course) songs take months to hit #1 at country radio and then fall off quickly. On average songs can rise quickly on Top 40 (at least relative to other formats) and can then hang around in the top 10 for awhile as well.

So, is "First Class" a lock for No. 1 for this chart period? Yes, though next week is setting up to be an interesting 3-way battle between As It Was, First Class, and Don't Think Jesus.

Isn’t the country radio format a little more ‘manipulated’ than others anyway, where labels have more control over how stations play their songs?
