To think, this isn't even Sweet's best, most energetic song.
I don't always have a soft spot for glam rock, but, when I do, it's very, very soft.

I used to feel more icky about this song, because it felt more like a "cash grab" than an actual song, given that it was written so quickly after an actual tragedy.
That said, it's a very, very, very, very well-written "cash grab".

I'd say that it doing as well as "Do Ya" makes sense. A solid enough song, but they have better.

On one hand, "More Than This" grew on me, and I'm kind of glad it's still their best performer.
On the other hand, I was rooting for this to make the top ten over a couple of songs that I'm sure will be there instead.

"Foreplay/Long Time" is one of arena rock's very best.
For all of this song's popularity, I always find myself comparing it to "Foreplay/Long Time", and it just cannot hope to compare in that scenario.

Hahaha, that ad campaign is how I was introduced to this song.
This has got a bit of a groove on it that most of Steve's songs don't really have, and it elevates this above most of his other stuff.
(I still wish we got to rank "Serenade", though.)

I still can't believe the "Bohemian Rhapsody is overrated" opinion is a real thing and not some weird meme. In fact I'm still not convinced.
Everything crashed down for me right before the top ten :c

I love "(Don't Fear) The Reaper", "The Boys Are Back in Town", "Lowdown" and "Evil Woman" (I guess in that order), so I'm glad to see they all made the top 10 here. Blue Öyster Cult would've almost certainly been my #1.
...but I'm also glad to see "Bohemian Rhapsody" outside of the top 20. I'd probably have to preview some of the songs that landed in the bottom 15 or something, but it would've almost certainly been in the running for my bottom 5, lol

I love this top 10. I'm especially pleased to see "You Should Be Dancing" made it. I'm a sucker for dance music with guitars, whether it be disco or even modern EDM that incorporates it. As pleased as I am that Thin Lizzy made top 10 it really shouldn't be their first time doing so either. I'm also probably the only weirdo that likes both of these Heart songs more than Barracuda too so seeing them make it is also great.

25. Squonk - GenesisPretty damn good for a band I gave up on after "Invisible Touch". I hear a lot of ABACAB in the initial music arrangements. Funny how they both had nonesense titles and that same #25 slot. 24. T ake the Money and Run - Steve Miller BandThe their most Skynyrd sounding jam. 23. Sing a Song - Earth, Wind & FireFor whatver reason I have never been a big fan of this song. It's just alrigt to my ears. 22. Free Bird (Live) - Lynyrd SkynyrdI might have previewed a differeent live version of this sing, but whatver. I'm assuming they both have extended guitar solos. which is the song's highlight anyway. 21. Bohemian Rhapsody - QueenBoy am I glad I have that rule where I don't choose the same #1 song twice. Anyway the backlash for this song is ridiculous up to a point where next time it shows up it will barely make the top 40. that video up there further ridicules an epic song, and'm done with it. I'm don't with the bottom ranks for this song. 8D 20. Lido Shuffle - Boz ScaggsThis one is way better than the one that still remains, and this was my favorite rediscovery, because I didn't know he sang it. I also never really thought of this band as a rock band til I saw this video. 19. The Fez - Steely DanBig improvement from the other songs we have ranked. I also found out we won't be ranking a song from this band I would have given top 30 action to. "Rikki Don't Lose That Number". I didn't even know it was theirs' 18. TVC 15 - David BowieInteresting first time listen. Didn't get all that much hyped over it, but it kept me listening. 17. Action - SweetI really thought I was going to be able to give this one easy top 10 action. Has all the powerpop ingredients I love. Really got some great Cheap Trick vibes here. 16. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon LightfootForgot this wa still even in here. Never heard it before. Sounded like one of those songs an old fisherman guy would start playing around an open fire. I don't know where to catagorize it, but it certainly isn't rock....and it isn't for me. 15. Livin' Thing - Electric Light OrchestraLosing another top 10. I love this band and thier use of strings. For a pop band I could listen to their albums all day. I imagine it has everything to do with the fact that my first introduction with this band was infact on Xanadu. 14. Love Is the Drug - Roxy MusicEasily my favorite song from this guys. There are many Duran Duran songs going on here. 13. More Than a Feeling - Boston We already know I love Boston and bands from Boston, but here is yet another of my all time top 10 songs. I refuse to belive this song misses the top 10. I actually closed my eyes and wished this rank away for a split second...and yet here it is # fucking 13. This song. One word. EPIC! One of the best songs ever written. The lyrics are perfect for me. I could have gone either way with this and "Bohemian Rhapsody", but the fact that I have come home 100s of times and thrown on this vinyl just to hear this song sends the Queen classic to the backseat. "When I'm tired and thinking cold I hide in my music, forget the day And dream of a girl I used to know I closed my eyes and she slipped away She slipped away" In my case all my exes, but the line ' " hide in my music, forget the day". is my favorite all time line from a song. and yes I can hold that last note to the point of exhaustion. I can imagine Brad expiriencing one of the best highs in his life while singing this song, and that fade out with the never ending guitarworks. the song could have gone on another 10 minutes on that guitar fade out alone, and I would sit there mesmerized. on a final note: I hope to the Gods of Rock you all listened to the album version and not that slashed up, hacked up radio edit. 12. Fly Like an Eagle - Steve Miller BandI'm fine with this rank. If Steve Miller was going to go progressive this spacey Keybord wonder was the way to go. 11. Landslide - Fleetwood MacThis one is pleasnt. Anchors my top 50. Reminds me of that one she did with Don Henley "Leather and Lace". Man this night was tough. I had three bands with two songs each in my top 10. Only one of those bands remains intact. and I still have four of my top 10's to boast.
