And she was showing off another butterfly on her back yesterday. Everything is pointing to March 14. Why March 14th? March 14th is National Learn About Butterflies Day. Katy has been posting many pics of her with butterflies including her Rock In Rio promo pic which displays 6 butterflies, a butterfly on her back at Billboard Women In Music, butterflies in the background of one of her Idol promo pics, and butterfly brooches for her Jimmy Kimmel appearance. And while on Kimmel, Katy was hinting at “spreading her wings” as to why she’s leaving Idol. Then there’s the number 143 which is a special number to Katy and she’s been mentioning that number a lot including in her IG tribute to Martin Kirkup. Then there’s the photos posted above where the clock in both photos shows 1:43. Most places around the world display dates with the day in front of the month. So 14.3 = 3.14 (March 14). If Katy doesn’t release or announce something that day, then she’s taking us all for fools.

So glad I'm reading the above posts about Katheryn potentially going the dance route, cause I literally came in here just to post that "365" is still fresh af to me and deserved to smash. 😂
Definitely in my top 5 Katy songs, her voice is so fucking good on it.

131k likes seems like a lot for Katy? I hope she smashes next era, but even if she doesn’t, I hope it’s at least a bop like Smile (Album)

Please be true! Sounds like Harleys In Hawaii type of sound (which has just reached 500M streams on Spotify)

It’ll be great if Katy has a commercial comeback with KP6 but it’s all gonna come down to promo and how much Capitol is willing to push her new era. Katy has had some great pop songs in the past 5 years but between odd single choices (Small Talk, Daises), poor promo for certified bops (NRO, WIG, 365), and completely ignoring songs with huge potential (HIH, CAIL, NTEOTW, Where We Started) Capitol has handled her music releases so poorly. Not even having an active single on the charts when Smile dropped was utterly stupid.
Katy is the type of artist who needs a promo push and full support of her label to smash in 2024, regardless of how great the music is. I’d say she’s in the same boat as Dua Lipa or Miley Cyrus in that regard.

Mariah's "comeback" was unprecedented and has not been replicated since. I wish Katy Kat all the best though!

Did something happen to cause a mini "Witness" surge? The album is back in the top 200 on iTunes (which I know is probably all of 5 copies), but it's also charting around the world:
#1 Argentina #1 Brazil #1 Chile #1 Colombia #1 Ecuador #1 Kazakhstan #1 Mexico #1 Peru #1 Philippines #1 Turkey #2 Jordan #2 Poland #2 Vietnam #16 El Salvador #24 Dominican Republic #39 Guatemala

I revisited Witness last night and it has definitely aged well over the years. I feel like it got so much unnecessary hate back in the day. It’s not her strongest album but it’s not as bad as many make it out to be. If you cut out 4 or 5 of the filler songs like Mind Maze, Miss You More, Bigger Than Me, and Into Me You See, then it’s a much more enjoyable experience. I still can’t believe Katy kept all that filler on the standard edition yet put two of the best songs on the deluxe which was only available at Target at that time.

I actually have to say that i always understood why Witness flopped. Despite agreeing that it hasn't aged badly, the thing with it is that for me the album tracks were ok but the album lacked the massive hits that characterized her previous albums. When you are a singles artist, without good performing singles you are doomed. Add to this her erratic behaviour and the messy promotion this album had and you get the result it got
Also please Miss You More is not a skip, it's gotta be one of the best songs on that album

Miss you more is a top 2 Katy song for me but otherwise I agree🥲 who in gods name writes off Miss You More as a filler song?? I cried to it and let go of so many heartbreaks with that song. Even Mind Maze, which has a terrible chorus, grew on me. That last thirty seconds is so dramatic! Love Tsunami, Roulette, Deja Vu, and of course all three singles. Bop Appetit (typo and it stays) came out on my 23rd birthday, I’ll never forget jamming to that beat drop at midnight!!

Pulse trashed Witness so bad that's it's almost unforgivable. It was NOT a bad album and its way better than whatever the hell Daises was.

Justice for "Roulette"! The smash hit that never was :( One of Katy's best songs. I was so obsessed with it. I agree that Witness was not a bad album at all. I was so sad that it flopped.

“Power” and 1 or 2 of the ballads were the only ones I’d cut from Witness, which was and remains my favourite Katy album.

The single roll out should have been:
Chained To The Rhythm for spring 2017 Roulette for summer Witness for autumn/winter Bon Apettit (with a better feature) for spring 2018
I fully believe the rumour that Ariana was on Bon Appetit, and it ending up to be Migos, played a key role in the relative floppage of the era. Don't forget Chained To The Rhythm was one of her best debuts on the Hot 100. Also, all this Witness talk got me inspired

I wrote this a couple years ago but this is my thoughts on the ideal Witness singles if anyone wants to read it:
If there was one single thing I could change, it’d of course be the singles. I do think CTTR was the right choice for the lead single. Its poor chart performance was mostly due to other factors such as the wait time, and not its own quality. But if there's one thing about the song that could have helped its prospects, it would be getting rid of Skip Marley. I would remove him entirely and replace his verse with a bridge sung by Katy, but if she felt like she needed a rapper on it, I would’ve at least gotten a semi-relevant one.
I’m hesitant to name replacements seeing how bad the Lil Yachty remix was, but I think having Fetty Wap may have saved both their careers, or if she really wanted to capitalize on the moment, maybe Gucci Mane. Then there’s the possibility of featuring one of the Migos instead of having them on “Bon Appetit.”
Which brings us to the next single. Before its release, “Bon Appetit” was being hyped up as a potential Ariana Grande collab because of some tweets on both singers’ behalfs related to cherry pie. Obviously this did not pan out but I think it’s safe to say it would've done MUCH better with her on it instead of Migos. “Swish Swish” is not even remotely close to single-worthy, so yeah… no saving that.
But what could she have done instead? “Roulette” is the clear standout song with single potential (“Miss You More” is my favorite but that’s not the kind of song she needed then), and a surefire summer banger. So maybe: CTTR (solo or with a relevant rapper) in Feb, “Bon Appetit” (feat. Ariana Grande) in April, and “Roulette” alongside the album in June. Then maybe “Tsunami,” or “Power” for the fall and “Miss You More” or “Pendulum” to close out the era.
Honestly those last two singles don’t really matter and probably wouldn’t have done much anyway, as it’s become harder for post-album singles to be successful. But that wouldn’t matter cause she’d already have three hits on her hands (assuming Capitol actually promoted them).

I don’t think the Witness era was very salvageable. The hits quite simply do not exist on that album. CTTR had the most hit potential by a mile. And while I agree a killer bridge for her instead of the rent-a-rapper strategy could’ve helped it be a bit bigger, it wouldn’t have been a substantial difference imo. Roulette and the title track are the only others I could ever hear any hit potential with, but I think we’re talking minor hits for both in best case scenarios. Rent-a-rapper strat might’ve worked a bit better for Roulette than CTTR, idk.
Now Prism and Smile on the other hand… there’s two Katy eras with missed smashes potential. The former mostly because the single choices were ATROCIOUS outside of Roar (Dark Horse wouldn’t have even been a single if radio didn’t force her hand with it), and the latter because all of her career momentum was dead by then and the rollout of most the singles were #messy.
But in an alternate universe where the correct singles for Prism were chosen and Smile then followed up that album instead of Witness, we’d probably be looking at Walking On Air, Legendary Lovers, Ghost, Harley’s in Hawaii, Never Really Over, and Cry About It Later from those two albums all being added to her list of smash juggernaut hits. At least NRO kinda sorta got some of its deserved success (but not nearly enough).
