Hot Sh*t doesn't seem to be taking off fast enough for a #1 debut, and even a top 10 debut isn't guaranteed. Apple Music is always the best indicator for first day performance for Hip-Hop.
It's 3 PM EST (15 hours post-release) and still not top 10.
Other 2022 releases: Do We Have a Problem? - reached top 10 at 10 AM EST Break My Soul - reached top 10 at 12 PM EST Plan B - reached top 10 at 2 PM EST

And considering BMS had a drake album bomb compared to now when drake is in his second week. I was expecting the song to climb faster. We still have approx 10 hours left so weβll see

To be honest, pulse always seems to not love the new singles that cardi drops, like every time and eventually people change their minds. I remember everyone thought wap was a weak record and it turned out to be a monster, of course for sexual aggressiveness though.
But yea, unless that cardi track is stable for the week and pulls in big spotify numbers or maybe drops the video midweek, it's probably not going #1.

Seems possible to go #1 by midnight but who knows. Very weird how the tracking is for apple music and how it suddenly got a massive boost. Seems like a wildcard to me with how it'll hold up.

Weβll have to see the Spotify numbers as well cuz even the YouTube numbers arenβt that great so far. Unless a video is dropped mid week, I donβt see this going no.1 but tomorrow weβll get a better picture.

At this point, it seems like AM has been updating every few hours which is why the jumps seem weird or βmassiveβ

Cardi has already said the music video isnβt expected to drop for another week or two maybe. Apparently, there was miscommunication amongst her team (somebody messed up somewhere) which is why it wasnβt released with the record.

Kendrick Lamarβs album performed way better on the Spotify charts than the Apple ones. It just depends on the artist. Hot Shit is surely a top ten, though

I feel like Hot Shit should comfortably go top 10, but it not getting a video this week could definitely prevent it from going all the way to #1. Cardi really has to do something about her team or her label cause there is no reason why this album rollout should be as weird as it's been

I feel like Hot s**t should comfortably go top 10, but it not getting a video this week could definitely prevent it from going all the way to #1. Cardi really has to do something about her team or her label cause there is no reason why this album rollout should be as weird as it's been Cardi was supposed to release a second album a few years back but then the pandemic happened. Making it hard to not only film videos but also tour since concert venues were shut down. Then it was supposed to be released after UP in 2021 at some point, once the market reopened, but, she got pregnant and had to put it on hold again. Thatβs actually why WAP was never submitted for a Grammy. They wanted to use it to push the album she was supposed to release in 2021. When she got pregnant, the project was pushed back for the 2nd time. She didnβt get to tour for her first album because she was pregnant with Kulture and has been adamant about not releasing a second project until she is in a position to do so. Hence, the release delays. Who wants to release a project in the middle of the pandemic without videos and touring? Also not going to release it when heavily pregnant (not again anyways). Between the pandemic putting everything on hold and the birth of Wave, the process has been impacted. Itβs unfortunate for sure though. I donβt think she wanted to release this record without the video but felt compelled to do so because the schedule for the next releases are already planned (according to her live). She stated yesterday on live that the rollout/marketing plan for the next single is already in place - and it should be out very soon. Then from there she will drop the project. Atlantic (who has wanted Cardi to drop music for the longest and has been patient given the circumstances) is adamant she releases the 2nd album this year.

There will always been outliers and exceptions to the rule. I will actually note Cardi may be the exception to the rule because she does not just appeal to the hip-hop demographic but the pop audience, as well. The better comparisons would be Cardi's prior AM / Spotify numbers to see where she's higher.

I know it's only Friday, but the stranger things finale doesn't seem to be having any impact on RUTH's performance. Very slight increases in sales but it continues to fall on AM and youtube thus far. Of course it's incredibly early and theres's definitely a possibility it can gain a lot more traction in the coming days, but i'm not so sure it's enough to cause an 80+ point increase for the #1 spot. Early predictions is that Harry is gonna get it, unless the cardi song holds rly well throughout the week. Let's see how this week unfolds.

Any chance that Rich Minion by Yeat can be the next WDTAB and RUTH? It rose 26 points last Spotify update and Minions 2 came out today.

I really enjoy the new City Girls feat. Usher. Even though the sample is overused, and the song isnβt innovative, itβs so nice to hear Usher singing a throwback R&B 90s sample thatβs not one of his songs. Kinda makes it feel like a brand new old Usher song. It hits just right for nostalgia reasons. I hope radio plays this and he gets his flowers. His career is way too big for his profile to be this low.

Talking about music videos, has anyone noticed hit songs from the past few years have way less views on YouTube than they used to get? How are Heat Waves and Blinding Light nowhere near 1 billion yet? We Don't Talk About Bruno seems to be the only one that's done quite well. Hits that big in 2015 would've sailed past 1 billion in a couple of years. Save Your Tears is one of the few videos doing well this decade. 860M views in 1.5 years and still gaining 1M a day. Will become the first western music video to get to 1B views this decade organically. Life Is Good has 2B views but it's hard to take it seriously. Blinding Lights views are split between three versions (official audio 690M, music video 600M, YT Music audio 390M = 1.68B combined)

Hereβs to hoping Separate Ways can get a revival just like RUTH. The remix they used in the ST trailer and in one of the episodes is really phenomenal and who knows we might see a boost for it on streaming.

Stephen Sanchez's Until I Found You would have been the perfect song to have included on the Elvis movie soundtrack. It has the sound of that era. I hope radio jumps on board soon. It deserves heavy airplay. It is one of the best songs of the year.

How will Imagine Dragon's 'Mercury Acts 1 & 2' chart? Will it be combined to Act 1? Will Act 2 chart separately?

But yeah, I think you are right, it will be combined because Act 2 is not even on Spotify as a separate album. This is just a terrible way of releasing new materials, inserting it to an old album to increase streams and chart longevity. Ugh.

Calm down about RUTH, most people will watch the ST4 finale tonight Friday or on the weekend. People don't watch the TV on the early morning in Friday or during the day, they have to work.

I do think RUTH could very well go to number one this week if it matches the streaming and sales performance the week it went to no. 4 with the advantages of weaker competition and having airplay, but I agree with the post above me, we're gonna have to wait a bit to see the full impact.
