This year, we only had 8 number 1s, what is the lowest number of number 1s in a year? 2005 only had eight number one singles the entire year. "Let Me Love You" "Candy Shop" "Hollaback Girl" "We Belong Together" "Inside Your Heaven" "Gold Digger" "Run It!" "Don't Forget About Us"

I know Bad Bunny has a huge, very dedicated, audience. But those stream increases baffle me. Clearly he's not finding much new audience at this point, so it's likely the same people streaming his music more. But he's never gotten this consistent streaming before - especially not this far after the album dropped - so clearly it's not the same people streaming his music as say last year.

I know it’s entirely anecdotal because the streams aren’t there yet abroad - but I kept hearing the Unstoppable Sia R3hab remix in Germany and Denmark and could see it having a run on the European charts and becoming a slow burner hit in the states

Yes! I am crossing my fingers for this international smash hit to enter the Hot 100 eventually.

This year, we only had 8 number 1s, what is the lowest number of number 1s in a year? 2005 only had eight number one singles the entire year. "Let Me Love You" "Candy Shop" "Hollaback Girl" "We Belong Together" "Inside Your Heaven" "Gold Digger" "Run It!" "Don't Forget About Us" 2015 also had 8 songs reach #1 that year, though it technically had 9 since Blank Space was a holdover from 2014. Something about years ending in 5 that results in long stretches at #1 I guess

Digital singles really started to make the charts interesting to follow that year, starting with “Laffy Taffy” breaking the digital record the week of Christmas.

I guess I meant the same people who initially streamed the album. I'd argue he was already pretty popular upon album release and it's those same people continually streaming his music. I don't think there's been a big event in the US in the past 2 months that would cause him to get many new people to stream him which would explain the stream increases (ie. huge performance, radio hit, tik tok virality, etc). So, that's what's interesting to me that the same people have been streaming him non-stop and continue to do so, even with increases.

Glimpse of Us has been in the top 10 for three weeks. It should be seeing the same type of increase in radio airplay as Sunroof.

Was it a popular ring tone or something? I feel like if Laffy Taffy was released a couple of years later it would have been even bigger as I could imagine it would be viral on YouTube (yes I know the actual streams wouldn't have been counted at the time but let's not pretend that Crank That didn't benefit enormously from YouTube).

According to Songfacts.com, this was exactly the case: "This was designed as a ringtone and released that way before it was a single. The simple, tinny beat played very well on cellphones, and exposure as a ringtone helped the song become a hit." "Laffy Taffy" was far more popular as a ringtone than as a full song - it sold 500,000 digital downloads, but 3 million ringtones."

I know it was denied but the rumoured Tyler remix of Bad Habit would have had a shot at pushing it to #1

"Let Me Love You" "Candy Shop" "Hollaback Girl" "We Belong Together" "Inside Your Heaven" "Gold Digger" "Run It!" "Don't Forget About Us" And while 2002 had 9 songs at #1 throughout the year, 2 of them were carried over from 2001, so that was the year that the fewest songs peaked at #1, with only seven: "Always on Time", "Ain't It Funny (Murder Remix)", "Foolish", "Hot in Herre", "Dilemma", "A Moment Like This" and "Lose Yourself". Kelly Clarkson's song was the only sales-driven #1 and the only one not to top the airplay chart (which didn't have any other #1s that year besides the Hot 100 ones). Crazy to think that there was a time when radio was pretty much the only metric, and that urban music dominated the airwaves (when it struggles so much in that metric nowadays).

What's up with Lil Baby's "Freestyle" in the top 10 on Apple Music? I've been seeing that, I thought it was so random lol. I'm not sure if it will but if it eventually charts it's gonna make up for it's 47 weeks of bubbling under.

It's looking another slow week this week so don't expect any big songs to go recurrent.

What's up with Lil Baby's "Freestyle" in the top 10 on Apple Music? I've been seeing that, I thought it was so random lol. I'm not sure if it will but if it eventually charts it's gonna make up for it's 47 weeks of bubbling under. Imagine if that song and Die For You makes the charts (again) after lingering around in streaming for so long. Then again it needs to get to at least 50 so idk if it can.

It's looking another slow week this week so don't expect any big songs to go recurrent. BH could still go recurrent. But if it doesn't, there's a chance that Bad Habit and Bad Habits will be right next to each other.

It would be so funny if the song that finally made Bad Habits go recurrent was... Bad Habit
