I'm curious to see if this thread is going to have a meltdown on Monday. It’s Pulse, of course there will be. And as someone who at worst considers the three number one contenders to be decent, and will be fine with any of them being number one, i’ll just sit back and see what unfolds.

I think most of our Beyhive users are quite knowledgeable and understand that whatever happens BMS is already a huge win for her. First solo smash in years. First radio smash in over a decade...

Hits Daily Double has "BREAK MY SOUL" at #3 for overall audio streaming this week, with 15,538,648. (111% increase) on the YouTube Music weekly chart, "BREAK MY SOUL" clocks in 2.28 million streams with the lyric video. (96% increase) that adds up to around 17.8 million. since "BREAK MY SOUL" officially did 8.8 million last week per Billboard despite 7.3 million audio per HDD and 1.16 million per YouTube, there's a nice 5% difference there, which would bring this week's Billboard streaming total up to an estimated 18.7 million. Problem: that's the number from the song chart, not the video chart, which tends to reflect the numbers YouTube gives Luminate. On there, the song isn't in the top 100 this week, meaning no individual video has over 600,000 plays. Admittedly, since there were multiple videos this week, I took the average divisor from the artist page numbers to the video numbers for the 5 album tracks (1.92) and applied it to Break My Soul in the period to get a best-case number of ~1.4m, which would be a gain, but not nearly as significant of one. I think it's going to come down to margins or something unexpected on the D2C front.

Formation would've been a true smash hit if she hadn't release it exclusively on Tidal. Honestly, that song felt like a #1 hit to me, especially the week it has been released, the Super Bowl performance, and the Lemonade album release. It would've had a great momentum on the charts. The song is definitely the Don't Speak of the 2010s in terms of potential chart success.

Wondering how Formation would’ve done if it got the same treatment when it released initially. The fact that the song still hit the top 10 and was the highest Lemonade song when it was officially released months later definitely showed the potential it could’ve had.

I'm just not understanding why some people think it's not possible that she could have this many streams while performing subpar on Spotify... Apple Music is the platform with the greater market share in the US, favors Black music more than Spotify (not just rap—R&B artists like SZA and Summer Walker, too), and all Apple Music streams are from paid users since it doesn't offer a freemium option at any capacity. anyone that follows the charts closely would be aware of these things.

So did sales officially change to /7? Does that mean if BMS doesn't get #1; It's all Billboard's fault?

Definitely higher than #10 but would have been shortlived without radio. I do think time will be kind to Formation's reputation, specially over some of her actual radio hits like IIWAB.

I have no doubt really that "Formation" would have been a Top 5 hit, and possibly a #1 debut.

And none of that automatically ensures a three times multiplied for every such artist. 18m means a 2.6 multiplier.

I'm the only one that brought up a three time multiplier, Which btw you totally missed the context on, it was about that one predictor, versus the other predictors and the streams and how one was using almost a three times multiplier. #9 yes I e got no hill to die on, as I never did what you accused me of,

Seems like the list of songs that are gonna go recurrent is gonna be smaller than some of us expected. I'm happy about that tbh. Cause that means that Enemy will most likely survive, and hopefully BF. That one's not very likely, but it at least has a chance, which makes me happy.

Just think a year ago, nobody would have thought the #1 song was on the way to #4 of all time, I think its even more crazier to think a song that was near on its way out and possibly being written off as a flop in its 3rd week initially, ended up being the biggest song of all time.

Oh no i was actually talking about BL. Guess i didn’t mean something from last year but it was still 2-3 years ago which is fairly recent.

Temporarily #1 I highly doubt they go back on making BL the GOAT even if they "should" - they put too much publicity into it. They likely will lower the multiplier for the weeks since then though

They likely will lower the multiplier for the weeks since then though I'd agree. However :) the big problem is they'll do it by year. So that means they'd Need to wait until 2022 started, so that'll still leave too many songs from 21-22 too high, I have Not done the math, I'm too lazy, but I assume because it is close with #2, r the losing the points if they adjusted starting 2021 would still cost BL #1. if they do it mid year when BL left well that's just too blatant manipulation. it is a mess for them. One of two, holiday songs being the other upcoming problem, glad I'm not them and needing to sort it lol.

Nothing says they have to do it exactly by year - in fact at least a couple of the most recent multiplier change dates have not been. Tbh I wouldn't put it past Billboard to just change it on the week immediately after BL went recurrent.
