last time a Black woman did it was in 2016. Rihanna was #1 with "Work" and ANTI on charts dated April 2. While wearing a purple hat and ... you've clearly taken the firdayteenager course,

The predictions of that Winston on twitter were pretty close for "BMS." Its sales were underestimated by a few, but it didn't really need those 'extra' sales anyway.

Thrilled for Beyoncé!
Although the early part of the year was kind of a new music dead zone, ever since Harry debuted we’ve had a pretty exciting run of songs hitting the top ten and #1. Definitely has ended up being one of the more interesting years to be a chart watcher!

For the first time in a while, the top 10 feels pretty fresh.
Also, Big Freedia of all people now has two #1 hits without ever getting credited.

The last 3 weeks especially have been great with Lizzo and Beyoncé being at #1, and the charts getting freshened. I hope Beyoncé gets another week at #1 next week, then Bad Habit takes over.

As she should. Doesn’t happen often. 50% of the hot 100 this year were #1 when their album was. Encanto, Future, Styles, Drake, Beyoncé You are totally right. I guess my thought was incomplete. I mean for someone who has been around as long as Bey, and who was basically written off as ever having a solo #1. It’s a great month to be A Beyonce fan.

For the first time in a while, the top 10 feels pretty fresh. I don't know, some people on here kept insisting that the Top 10 was fresh all of July. In any case, this is the first chart since 7/17/2021 (the week before Stay's debut) that none of Stay, Big Energy, or Heat Waves is in the Top 10.

This is definitely one of the best top 10s in the 2020s so far. I don’t really mind Sunroof, and still not a huge fan of Me Porto Bonito in comparison to the much better hits on his album, but the rest of the top 10 are all great songs!

What other songs have gone number one without a music video? Obviously One Dance and Closer were iconic for their lack of music videos (Closer didn’t get one til week 8 of being number one) but other than Thank U, Next and Jimmy Cooks I can’t think of one

I GOT MY HEAD OUT THE SUNROOF
I'm so happy that Sunroof hit the top ten. Let's get it to number 1! It's the perfect summer bop.

Obviously One Dance and Closer were iconic for their lack of music videos (Closer didn’t get one til week 8 of being number one) but other than Thank U, Next and Jimmy Cooks I can’t think of one "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry is a big one. in fact the music video came out the week it finished its 4-week run at #1, ironically, and "Happy" took over. I realize that tweet is inaccurate now because "Savage Remix" by Megan Thee Stallion & Beyoncé never got a video at all! they must have meant "solo".

Dababy's Rockstar got a few weeks as well.

So that's 3 of Beyoncé's #1 songs having been in the past five years correct? Yes, although the crediting for Perfect is a bit controversial.

The only other female to hit #1 with an original song in her 40s in the streaming era is Sia (with Cheap Thrills).

ROCKSTAR, First Class, and WAIT FOR U

kinda weird that folklore is still the only female album w/simultaneous top 10 debuts. but streaming is still very male skewed so.

Beyonce technically having a #1 hit in 4 different decades you love to see it (even if Savage made it that way first but it was always a loose credit to me the way billboard treated her on the song).
