Before the album release, I didn't expect BMS to hit #1, but I thought it'd have more songs in the top 40/20, since the Hot 100 is really weak now.
Anyway, congrats to her, it's hard to stay relevant for so long.

There is no music video in the plan for BMS? This is just my speculation, but I'm thinking "act ii" of Renaissance is a full visual album, and possibly act iii is a tour. |

Thrilled for Beyoncé! Although the early part of the year was kind of a new music dead zone, ever since Harry debuted we’ve had a pretty exciting run of songs hitting the top ten and #1. Definitely has ended up being one of the more interesting years to be a chart watcher! The last 3 weeks especially have been great with Lizzo and Beyoncé being at #1, and the charts getting freshened. I hope Beyoncé gets another week at #1 next week, then Bad Habit takes over. Yep. I think Bad Habit is the next new #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. |

I think Bad Habit is the next new #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Unless someone big releases and debuts at #1. I think it's only a matter of time before we start seeing singles from OR2, JB7, Dula Peep 3, and maybe R9. That last one is a big maybe, but you get my point. |

I'm confused by the digital #1 this week for a few reasons. www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/jax-victorias-secret-hot-100-first-timers-1235123982/Debuts at No. 83 with 5.6 million U.S. streams (up 68%) and 7,000 downloads sold (up 35%) in the July 29-Aug. 4 tracking week, according to Luminate. It jumps 5-1 on the Digital Song Sales chart (which factors weekly sales and Complete My Album returns in the iTunes Store, and corresponding deductions to the volume of tracks purchased during the tracking week). Since when do CMA returns factor into the digital chart? But also...CMA? It doesn't look like she has an album at all and the song is standalone so far? ETA: Oh wait. I'm assuming they had that long part as a disclaimer just to say "don't @ us that beyonce is not on top." I thought it was relevant to the song since the article is about the song. Especially since the article about beyonce's song doesn't mention that at all. It just says "sold 13,000 downloads (up 113%)," so that would be...the points for the Hot 100 but NOT the number counted for Digital since it's before CMA, I guess? Very opaque. |

How long before "Bad Habit" goes #1? Is that our big Fall smash? All it needs is for the streaming to remain strong while the radio catches up. And if the radio catches up quickly and the streaming holds, the cards are in place for it to go to number-one sometime in September. |

Seems like radio listenership has been steadily increasing these past few months. ADT is pulling very huge numbers considering the average was somewhere around 70 million. Every week, I see the numbers are higher than predicted because the difference between Nielsen and Mediabase is getting lower. Since streaming numbers are actually low overall, we're going to see radio weighting a lot in the near future. It's the one factor that's catching up.

Also, didn't anybody else think not mentioning what movement the song had on Digital Song Sales seemed a bit too convenient of an omission as well. |

What Happened To Virgil 100% went recurrent this week. I mean if Sweetest Pie went recurrent, there’s a 99.9% chance it would go recurrent with it.
Also, given how Super Gremlin was #39 last week, i’m gonna guess it’s at #46, given how 8 Beyoncé songs probably debuted above it and Enemy is confirmed recurrent.

I really wanted both Enemy and Boyfriand to survive this week. RIP. Also RIP to TWIW, Woman, and SP. You all lived good lives and will all be missed.
