It's Pulse, they've had a hate on for ID since they started. But then not surprising, Pulse hates almost anything with a twinge of rock to it. It's gotta be either rap, female, or a gay anthem. You'd have a point if: 1. There was a twinge of rock in anything ID has put out recently 2. If what they put out was good The song peaked at #2 on rock radio, sorry if it doesn't fit your vision of what rock is. It's a pretty broad genre from pop rock to alternative.

So it is basically the YE #1 for the Canadian Hot 100 YE is down to either longevity-driven (Heat Waves), quantity of weeks at #1 (As It Was), or both (Cold Heart)

So, 7 weeks in, Beyonce's song is #1, and the highest song from the Drake album is below the Luke Combs song...

AIWFCIY 1, Cold Heart 12, HW 2, AIW 15 broken up by FC 1 and Jimmy Cooks 2

What other songs have gone number one without a music video? Obviously One Dance and Closer were iconic for their lack of music videos (Closer didn’t get one til week 8 of being number one) but other than Thank U, Next and Jimmy Cooks I can’t think of one Number one singles from the 2010s and onward that still don't have a music video Set Fire to the Rain (only has Royal Albert Hall performance) Harlem Shake One Dance Savage BREAK MY SOUL Jimmy Cooks In terms of numbers that eventually got videos after hitting #1: Panda, Can't Stop the Feeling, God's Plan's first week at #1, Sad!, In My Feelings, Old Town Road, The Box. ROCKSTAR, First Class, and WAIT FOR U I think Work was one too, it didn't have a video until it's second week at #1 iirc

This is one of those rare 2022 weeks where the US Hot 100 is actually much more interesting than the Canadian Hot 100
Seriously, barely anything gained traction in Canada this week, not helped by the Beyonce album bomb hitting with less impact than in the US

I really wished "Enemies" at least reached 52 weeks to continue the streak of "one-word" Imagine Dragons songs with more than 52 wks
"Radioactive" - 87 weeks "Demons" - 61 weeks "Believer" - 52 weeks "Thunder" - 52 weeks

Bold of you to say Enemy was ever any good. It's Pulse, they've had a hate on for ID since they started. But then not surprising, Pulse hates almost anything with a twinge of rock to it. It's gotta be either rap, female, or a gay anthem. Honey, I hate Imagine Dragons and I'm charting 37 rock songs on my 80-song personal chart this week

Of course, some are better than others.

Just noticed that Break My Soul actually dropped from #4 to #5 on Digital Song Sales this week. I guess Billboard didn't want to explain the "complete my album" rule in their article.

Interestingly enough, Break My Soul is at 1 this week without topping a single metric but no outrage from a specific user.

Jax’s “Victoria Secret” sets a new low for digital sales #1, with 7000. The previous record was Nicki Minaj’s “Blick Blick”, which was #1 on the 4/2/2022 chart with 8000.

BMS is up to #15 on the Songs of the Summer chart. Sunroof debuts at #19. None of this matters because nothing is passing As It Was.

There are twenty spots on the Songs of the Summer chart. Why does only one of those spots matter?

The Songs of the Summer chart is a building one I gather? At this point, yeah, if it's a building chart there's no way anything builds enough momentum to overtake Harry, especially with it probably going back to #1 next week.

Yeah it’s a building chart. The songs that are at the top when the summer begins have an advantage when the summer ends. That’s how Butter became Song of the Summer last year.

Seems like radio listenership has been steadily increasing these past few months. ADT is pulling very huge numbers considering the average was somewhere around 70 million. Every week, I see the numbers are higher than predicted because the difference between Nielsen and Mediabase is getting lower. Since streaming numbers are actually low overall, we're going to see radio weighting a lot in the near future. It's the one factor that's catching up. Isn't it more so about songs doing well at different formats at the same time? "ABT" was able to have a high total because it was #1 at Top 40 while it was also #1 at Rhythmic, top 5 at Adult Top 40, and top 10 at Adult R&B. It even had top 30 play at 'Urban' radio and AC radio. Few songs as of late have been able to get that good of play on so many formats.

Yeah it’s a building chart. The songs that are at the top when the summer begins have an advantage when the summer ends. That’s how Butter became Song of the Summer last year. We all know, though, that Stay was the real biggest song of last summer, as well as of the entire year of 2021.
