Also this doesn't reset each week - once you've bought a digital copy, it won't count for the charts if you buy it the following week as the same customer, so the same 10k stans buying 999999 copies per week with Butter should never happen again in theory if Luminate's "customer" detection actually works properly. That said, it seems like the website sales are counted as a new copy (vs. the DSP platforms like iTunes) even tho it has the same ISRC, so it's technically 2 per person? (According to some predictors anyway, I'm not sure how true it is) |

Fuck it. While the original was my second least favourite song from the album, the Summer Walker remix is alright. It's still nothing great, but I'd consider it a general improvement and I wouldn't be mad if it gets some traction

it's basically 1 sales for each version per platform. so you can buy +5 through Itunes, Amazon, Tidal, Qoubz, artist store, etc. This is weird though because the rules specifically state per ISRC (aka version). So maybe the ones on the web stores have a different ISRC to skirt around the rules (this was the case with the 'Alternative' cover versions of Butter), but the ISRC of the song on regular DSP stores are the same (which would make sense given the type of process). Sales outside of iTunes are usually literally nothing though anyway so... as far as I know, luminate themselves don't have personal information for filtering. they ask each platform to do filter and get filtered sales from them. so luminate can't know if 1 person bought the same upc single in 5 different platform. |
