Drake, or any artist for that matter, won't be fine if they keep releasing music that doesn't resonate with people. There's really no point in denying that - Drake just won't be fine if his next album flops too.
Scorpion and CLB were very safe albums. There aren't many Drake fans going around saying that these are their favourite projects. They just weren't ambitious enough, but that's fine. If an artist plays it safe for a few years to rest, maybe focus on a new vision then that's fine. The Weeknd did that with Starboy, Ariana did it with Sweetener and both releases were followed by their biggest eras yet.
It starts being a problem when one of two things happens - either the artist doesn't switch it up enough and starts becoming stale, that's the case with Ed Sheeran now, who is still big, but isn't anywhere near his peak from 2017-2018, or switches it up in a way phoned in way, that isn't carefully thought-out.
Drake simply needs to switch it up and think through his next moves. He could be at the top of rap for a next years with the right strategy, but he is making himself vulnerable with these releases. Fans of any artist can accept them playing it safe for some time, since that allows their fanbase to grow organically. But at a certain point they just need to mix it up. That is why Kanye or Beyonce remain as popular as They are, while Lil Wayne for example, while still a huge name, is more of a legacy act than an actual hit-maker.
H,N was a flop because it didn't connect with people - but why? It's not because Drake experimented, it's because the experiment was half-assed. He isn't a strong enough singer to pull off a dance record, and the songs on the album that he put the most effort into - Jimmy Cooks, Massive and Sticky - are also the ones performing the best. But two of them also sound like what he usually does, and they are most likely just CLB throwaways.
If he shows that he doesn't care by not putting in effort and half-assing projects, or does the same thing over and over again, then he'll inevitably lose the top spot the moment that a viable contender approaches - be it Lil Baby or anyone else.
That is why he needs to take a break. The pace at which he is releasing music is starting to have an impact on his commercial performance. A Drake x Lil Baby collaboration not debuting at #1 on US Spotify despite being released as a single with a music video? He just doesn't have the time to come up with new ideas at this point. If his next album is as phoned in as this single or his last album, then I could see it doing worse than H,N, even if it is a return to traditional rap. He isn't guaranteed the level of success that he had in recent years. While he obviously won't fade into irrelevancy, his career could take a serious hit.

Some of you on here need to quit it with fake worrying about the commercial performance of artists you don't like. It's pathetic at this point. Imagine trying to paint Drake's career as being in shambles or even being on the verge of being in shambles? How shameless can some of you get? You people are the same ones who will complain whenever he drops a song you don't like (which is basically every Drake song) which does well and when he drops a song that doesn't do well, you'll use that as a way to posit your silly claims of his career coming to an end. Regardless of perceived quality, every Drake song will not be an automatic top 10 debut. Stop acting like the world/his career is coming to an end when a Drake song doesn't manage that. You just look stupid. No one expects any other artist to debut in the top 10 with every song they release and yet, that's been the expectation for Drake for almost a decade now. Stop it. At this point in his career, Drake can do whatever the hell he wants. He has achieved more than most artists can ever dream or hope to achieve. He released a dance album because he wanted to, and knowing fully well that the same people who complain about the usual music he makes would have a field day with that, but he didn't care. "Drake doesn't take chances" "His music is too safe" but when he does something different it turns to "he didn't do it well enough" "he should have taken chances this way, not that way". Just shut up. Go and fake worry about your faves and why they keep flopping. Drake will be just fine, regardless of your faux concerns over the state of his career. One does not have to hate an artist to take a critical look at them. And people should look in their own mirror. While defending their heroes, and calling others haters and fake - complaining constantly about artists they themselves don't like or are tired of, its wrong to take a look st Drake, but Bieber and Sheersn are fair game to go after for "flopping", as an example. but I should know better than to try and have an intelligent critical discussion with a Stan, so I'll shut up.

Well to the "Drake is over crowd" he just debuted at #2
Name a better combo than Pulse users claiming Drake is over because a single/album underperforms (by his standard) and Drake proving them wrong by having another hit/multiple new hits.
Also looks like we have our Eurovision hit for the year (SNAP has been trending worldwide for a couple of weeks now)

You're not taking a critical look at anything. You're saying rubbish. The moment anything attached to Drake's name underperforms (for his standards), Pulse users start screaming from the mountain top about his career being in shambles/coming to an end, just to look stupid the next time he drops and smashes. Y'all have been doing this since 2016 and it's exhausting. Like I said, go and worry about newer/less-established artists who are coming and going in 5 years or less and stop focusing on someone like Drake who is still performing better than all his peers and is doing just fine.
