Except you’ve made it into this big deal where people are defending Harry whenever someone says they’re sick of the song. It’s possible I’m not paying attention but somehow what I’m seeing is this suggestion that the charts are wrong for “allowing” AIW to still be riding so high after such a long time. It’s fine to be sick of the song; it’s always been average at best to me, but being angry at people for countering back at those who say it needs to drop off the chart and claiming it’s some defensive stans is a bit of a reach. Eventually haters of any artist/song begin to sound tired and boring. We get it. Some people are over the song. And everyone else is over hearing about it.

I was just saying that I'm sick of the song and that I don't want it to go back to number one. I never said that its weeks at number 1 were due to a flawed forumla. Also don't call me a hater, cause I think aiw is a good song, I'm just sick of it.

It's only been on the charts for 18 weeks, I suspect it's going to be on the charts for a lot longer. If you're sick of this song now, just think of how you're going to feel when it's pushing 52 weeks on the chart, if it lasts that long?

Alright, that's something that we can deal with.  So you're hoping for the rise of something like Bad Habit and Sunroof to freshen up the top 3 a bit and keep AIW a bit lower in the charts where it's not such an overwhelming presence despite strong radio and streaming that indicate a lengthy chart run is likely.

A tip: you don't have to hear songs just because they're charting. I haven't heard STAY for a good chunk of months since it completely burned on me. I couldn't care less that it's still top 20. Annoying hits have never been easier to avoid.

There is something liberating about choosing not to listen to songs that you don't like, choosing only to listen to music one enjoys, and not caring what the other 330 million other Americans do except to note the position of songs on the charts on a weekly basis.

Also do people actually use most of the Spotify curated playlists? I usually look for new music on them but would never allow Today's Top Hits to play in full for example. Imagine the onslaught of Drake songs one would have to endure, or things like STAY or 34+35 spending ages there after they burned on you.

Just curate your own playlists and you'll be fine. It's how I stopped hearing Blinding Lights when it finally burned on me, and it was still top 10 on Billboard or something like that lol.

I think radio is going to drop ADT fairly quickly (In today's terms) ,  I expect the song out of the top ten of the Hot 100 before November rolls around.

I want to see an unprecedented 5th time returning to the top. That has never happened in the history of Billboard Hot 100. As It Was feels like it should have an 11th week at #1 tying The Box for the longest running #1 of the decade so far. The week after I want to see Bad Habit reach the top.

I’m pretty sure the first 2 statements are the entire reason why I won’t be all that mad if AIW goes back to number one (even if The Box is a better song, yes I just said that and I won’t take it back). And i’m pretty sure Bad Habit doesn’t have the radio momentum to go to number one next week, even if it would probably reach the Top 5 this week.

If you don't like As It Was, just like... idk... ignore it? It just comes off as miserable to constantly beat on it. It's one of my favourite songs of 2022, but what's so amazing about the internet/streaming is you can listen to whatever you want! What a concept. For me personally I find that I increasingly feel like I'm out of touch with the charts. Only occasionally aligning. I've kinda learned to accept it. YE #1 incoming. We love to see it.

One last thing before I let this whole thing go. I've never delegitimized aiw in any way shape or form, and I don't think it's right to delegitimize it. But I have to point out the people that are hating on people like Phieagles for delegitimizing aiw are the same people who are delegitimizing Heat Waves as the YE#1. Don't talk about delegitimizing when you can't seem to accept the fact that hw is the biggest song of 2022. Everyone's been whining and bitching about it being in the top 10 for the entire year. THAT'S EXACTLY WHY IT'S THE BIGGEST SONG OF THE YEAR!!! Aiw was released in f**king April, and hw has been here the whole year. Therefore, it's obvious that hw is the biggest song of the year. Some of yall just need to accept that.
