Regardless, this is not the appropriate thread to discuss this (or to complain incessantly about a songβs performance) β there are dedicated threads for the former, and the latter frankly isnβt necessary.

Pandora is the reason Cuff It debuted at #13 and Alien Superstar debuted at #19 despite being outperformed on Spotify + Apple Music
It's by far the most fraudulent streaming service (Amazon isn't far behind tho)

Itβs still a bit exciting, but not as much as it should since theyβre all repeat #1s. This has been a slightly slower year for #1 turnover compared to 2021. To compare:
12 new #1s in 2021 by August 14th (Drivers License, Whatβs Next, Up, Peaches, Montero, Leave the Door Open, Rapstar, Save Your Tears, Good 4 u, Butter, Permission to Dance, Stay)
8 new #1s in 2022 by August 13th (We Donβt Talk About Bruno, Heat Waves, As It Was, First Class, Wait For U, Jimmy Cooks, About Damn Time, Break My Soul)
And itβs looking to stay that way for at least a few more weeks.

I can't say that this is a surprise, since nerfing sales means that for a song to reach the top of the charts it needs either ridiculously massive streaming or a considerable radio push.

BMS is locked for #1 if HITS' TEA is accurate, barely dropping in points if at all. It got INSANE sales (over 30k according to ChartEssentials which matches it). They must have come from the website because iTunes was not showing that.

At 3% decline per week, Heat Waves is tracking to have ~110pts in its 90th week. Could be very close whether it breaks the record or slips out of the top 25. |
