I don't know why I continue to be surprised at Pulse rankers' general disdain of male r&b ballads but just know that y'all are not seeing the pearly gates as of tuh-DAY

Today's extra was the breakthrough hit for this singer/jazz guitarist from Pittsburgh. Reaching #3 on the soul chart and #10 on the Hot 100, it won the Grammy for Record Of The Year and was nominated for Song Of The Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. It was written and first recorded by Leon Russell, and also covered by Helen Reddy and The Carpenters.

Sophiscated Lady isn't a bad song, but it's not Natalie Cole persay. I can see the song perfectly fitting an act like The Isley Brothers

Disco Lady deserves justice cause it did not deserve to get out so early.

Today's extra was one of their nine #1s on the Hot 100. It was also their first Top 10 on the soul chart, peaking at #4.

Welcome back! The song at #15 actually has the same number of points as #16. While they each have a #1, this song is placed higher because it has more Top 5s, seven in fact. It also has seven bottom 5s, and as a result has the highest SD.

13. Wake Up Everybody - Harold Melvin & The Blue NotesFrom their album of the same name, "Wake Up Everybody" turned out to be the end of an era for Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes. It was their final #1 on the soul chart, their final Top 40 hit on the Hot 100, and was one of their final singles with Teddy Pendergrass. Following Teddy's exit, the group left Philadelphia International and continued to chart into the '80s. "Wake Up Everybody" has been covered numerous times since, including a 2010 version by John Legend and The Roots which featured Common and Melanie Fiona. StatsChart Entry: November 15, 1975 Peak Date: January 17, 1976 Weeks At #1: 2 Weeks In Top 10: 10 Weeks On Chart: 17 Hot 100 Peak: #12 Points: 338 Average: 15.64 Standard Deviation: 6.744 (15th lowest)BB🌕 - 4 singingrulebritannia - 6 #LisaRinna - 6 rowellfarm490 - 10 samo🦕 - 10 Soulsista - 11 beyoncelover - 11 SHOOTER - 13aerodynamite - 13DJDaveMick69 - 13Ivy Leegue™ - 15 gonecountry - 15 Mirago - 16 ccarter1023 - 18 Private Dancer - 19 jenglisbe - 20 Kelly's 10th Fan - 20 .indulgecountry - 22 mamooshka - 23 wyckyd - 24 annoymous1 - 26 🇯🇲 dollybaby 🇯🇲 - 29 The next reveal has the 3rd highest SD. 12. The Rubberband Man - The Spinners"The Rubberband Man" was the second single from their album Happiness Is Being With The Spinners. It was about the son of producer and co-writer Thom Bell, who was teased about his weight. The song was the sixth and final soul charttopper for The Spinners, and peaked inside the Top 5 on the Hot 100. It was also their last single to feature vocals from Philippé Wynne. He wanted to change the name of the group to Philippé Wynne & The Spinners, but when the other members refused, he left to pursue a solo career. He was replaced by John Edwards. Apologies to BB🌕... More importantly...how the FUCK is Rubberband Man (LOL) this close to the Top 10, edging out classics like Kiss and Say Goodbye and Just To Be Close To You and Inseparable?? Unreal.

Yeah I'm not a fan of that one. But Disco Lady, KASG, WAFL, Love Ballad, and Rubberband Man deserve justice

Some of these basics in the top 10...I can't but also, not surprised at all. The lowest common denominator usually prevails. Shocked that Dazz Dazz Disco Jazz is still here, but I love that song, LOL.

Car Wash and Play That Funky Music are the only ones that don't deserve to be in the top ten. The rest I can see
