Tina Turner occupied a similar space to Prince and David Bowie for me, she felt immortal and even though I knew she was growing old I couldn't imagine a world without her alive. RIP legend

Outside of modern rappers, the only death to actually impact the Hot 100 recently was DMX’s, who is also a rapper. Even such names as Kenny Rogers, Bill Withers, and Eddie Van Halen dying in 2020 didn’t lead to any re-entries on the Hot 100. I’m not sure Tina will be any different.

Whitney probably had the most notable Hot 100 success right after her passing (and who could've been considered a legacy act at the time), when I Will Always Love You hit #3 the first full week after her passing (with several other of her biggest hits also re-entering the top 50). Actually, IWALY was #7 the week before, so had the timing been different, it probably would've re-entered at #1 (not disrespecting her in any way or saying that chart performance is all that matters after one dies, I'm just pointing it out). Although this was a bit before the streaming age and her re-entries were fueled largely by digital sales, which tend to be more influenced by legacy acts. Actually, Michael Jackson would've flooded the higher reaches of the chart after his passing as well, only the recurrent rules were different at the time, and his songs were ineligible to re-enter.

But RIP to Tina Turner as well, and good for her for living a long, full life, which is rare for rock stars, and even more so for overcoming the struggles she had!!

Hot 100 #1 is probably not gonna happen, it just doesn't have the streaming to challenge Last Night even if it has more radio.
As for radio #1, it's not out of the question. Pop doesnt seem to be dropping this that hard yet, and it's gaining pretty heavily on Hot AC. If it can ride those Hot AC gains to #1 on that format, and Pop (+Rhythmic and Urban) can stay stable in the meantime, it could theorotically go #1, albeit barely.
