If Olivia / Enchanted TV etc underperform, how many weeks away is Morgan from OTR record? This is its 11th week. If Olivia / Enchanted TV are a success like it's expected, he'll reach 13 weeks. Otherwise he's 8 weeks away from OTR's record which I don't think there's really a possibility of that happening.

She was only 17 at that time. This was her fourth consecutive top 5 hit, following Only in my dreams, Shake your love (#4-peaking hits), and Out of the Blue (#3). Quite an impressive and promising g debut era for Debbie! Wish she had maintained more success in the 90sβ¦

^Not to mention, she had Lost in Your Eyes after that, making it five top 4s within the first songs she released. Sadly, although she charted, she never returned to the top 10 after that, even though she continued to chart in the Hot 100.

^Not to mention, she had Lost in Your Eyes after that, making it five top 4s within the first songs she released. Sadly, although she charted, she never returned to the top 10 after that, even though she continued to chart in the Hot 100. DG's first 4 singles reached top 4, but the fifth single from OOTB - Staying Together - peaked at #22. LIYE was her sixth single and lead from her 2nd album. When it hit #1, I bet the expectation was high that her second era would be huge, but that's Pop music.

I remember at the time thinking Debbie and her arch-rival Tiffany would fight in the charts for years to come but both were relevant for 1 album and a half! Debbie's second album didn't do bad, the title track peaked at #11 and No More Rhyme at #17. Not sure what went wrong afterwards, how could she do so many great songs in such a short time span and then nothing ever more.

Might be way too early to make this prediction, but there are 11 weeks left in the US summer definition (Memorial to Labor Day). Anecdotally it always feels like country does better during the summer, and with Last Nightβs dominance in the genre and on the charts right now, I think we might actually get close. Say Olivia gets one week, Enchanted TV gets one week, heβs breaking OTR record by Labor Day.

06/20/2023 Morgan Wallenβs βLast Nightβ adds an 11th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. Plus, Luke Combsβ cover of Tracy Chapmanβs classic βFast Carβ accelerates to No. 3, from No. 4, on the Hot 100. Thanks to βLast Nightβ and βFast Car,β two country hits share space in the chartβs top three for the first time since March 2000, and for only the second time in over 42 years. The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated June 24, 2023) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (June 21), a day later than usual due to the Juneteenth holiday in the United States yesterday (June 19). For all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram. Wallenβs βLast Night,β released on Big Loud/Mercury/Republic Records, drew 69.5 million radio airplay audience impressions (up 1%) and 29.6 million streams (down 4%) and sold 7,000 downloads (down 6%) in the June 9-15 tracking week, according to Luminate. The song, which initially led the Hot 100 in March, becoming Wallenβs first leader on the survey, posts a 13th week at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart; rises 4-3 on Digital Song Sales, following a week on top; and keeps at its No. 4 high on Radio Songs. Additionally, βLast Nightβ tops Billboardβs Hot Country Songs chart, which employs the same multi-metric methodology as the Hot 100, for a 19th week β tying βYou Proofβ (May-December 2022) for Wallenβs longest command among his seven Hot Country Songs No. 1s. βLast Nightβ concurrently leads the Country Airplay chart for a seventh week, enters the top 10 on Adult Pop Airplay (11-8) and pushes to No. 9 on Pop Airplay. Itβs Wallenβs ninth No. 1 on Country Airplay and his first top 10 on the latter two lists. βLast Nightβ also notches a third week atop Billboardβs Songs of the Summer chart, which returned two weeks earlier. Miley Cyrusβ βFlowersβ holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100, after eight weeks at No. 1 beginning upon its debut in January. It tacks on an 18th week atop Radio Songs (85.9 million in audience, down 1%) β matching the second-longest reign since the chart began in December 1990. Hereβs a recap of the chartβs longest-leading hits: Most Weeks at No. 1 on Radio Songs: 26, βBlinding Lights,β The Weeknd, 2020 18, βFlowers,β Miley Cyrus, 2023 18, βIris,β Goo Goo Dolls, 1998 16, βGirls Like You,β Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B, 2018 16, βWe Belong Together,β Mariah Carey, 2005 16, βDonβt Speak,β No Doubt, 1996-97 15, βEasy On Me,β Adele, 2021-22 Luke Combsβ cover of Tracy Chapmanβs βFast Carβ (which hit No. 6 on the Hot 100 in August 1988) drives to a new No. 3 Hot 100 high, from No. 4. It wins the Hot 100βs top Airplay Gainer award for a fourth consecutive week (42.5 million, up 24%), as it advances 14-10 on Radio Songs, becoming Combsβ second top 10, after βForever After Allβ (No. 10, June 2021). The remake hits the Country Airplay top five (No. 5) and continues scaling the top 25 on Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Airplay and Pop Airplay. The song is also up 1% to 20.4 million streams and 14% to 10,000 sold. Notably, Chapman, who solely wrote βFast Car,β ties her highest Hot 100 rank as a songwriter: βGive Me One Reason,β which she also penned solo, and which became her other top 10 as a recording artist, hit No. 3 in June 1996. Meanwhile, with Wallenβs βLast Nightβ at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and Combsβ βFast Carβ at No. 3, two country hits (as defined by titles that have hit Billboardβs Hot Country Songs chart, where they currently place at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively) rank in the Hot 100βs top three simultaneously for the first time since the chart dated March 11, 2000, when Lonestarβs βAmazedβ held at No. 1 and Faith Hillβs βBreatheβ took the No. 3 spot. (Before that, such a double-up had not occurred since March 7, 1981, when Eddie Rabbittβs βI Love a Rainy Nightβ and Dolly Partonβs β9 to 5β ranked at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.) A pair of country songs appearing in the Hot 100βs top five for the first time in nearly a quarter-century continues the genreβs surge this year; as analyzed by Hit Songs Deconstructed, country tied pop as the most prominent primary genres in the chartβs top 10 in Q1 2023, marking countryβs best such showing in over a decade. Rema and Selena Gomezβs βCalm Downβ dips to No. 4 from its No. 3 Hot 100 high. It tops the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart for a 42nd week, extending the longest reign since the ranking began over a year ago (in partnership with music festival and global brand Afro Nation). Lil Durkβs βAll My Life,β featuring J. Cole, holds at No. 5 on the Hot 100, after it launched at its No. 2 peak. It tops the multi-metric Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for a fourth week each. Toosiiβs βFavorite Songβ ascends 7-6 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 5, and SZAβs βKill Billβ drops 6-7, after it became her first No. 1, for a week in April. The latter leads the multi-metric Hot R&B Songs chart for a 26th week. Metro Boomin, The Weeknd and 21 Savageβs βCreepinβ β rises 9-8 on the Hot 100, after hitting No. 3; Taylor Swiftβs βKarma,β featuring Ice Spice, rebounds 10-9, two weeks after it vaulted to its No. 2 high following the release of its remix with Ice Spice; and Eslabon Armado and Peso Plumaβs βElla Baila Solaβ recedes 8-10 after reaching No. 4 β the best rank ever for a regional Mexican song β as it logs an 11th week at No. 1 on the multi-metric Hot Latin Songs chart. Again, for all chart news, you can follow billboard and billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram and all charts (dated June 24), including the Hot 100 in its entirety, will refresh on Billboard.com tomorrow (June 21). Luminate, the independent data provider to the Billboard charts, completes a thorough review of all data submissions used in compiling the weekly chart rankings. BTSβ βTake Twoβ bounds in at No. 1 on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated June 24). The song, released in honor of the South Korean pop superstarsβ first decade as a group, is BTSβ record-extending seventh leader on each list. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts, which started in September 2020, rank songs based on streaming and sales activity culled from more than 200 territories around the world, as compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data and the Global Excl. U.S. chart comprises data from territories excluding the United States. Chart ranks are based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales, the latter of which reflect purchases from full-service digital music retailers from around the world, with sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) sites excluded from the chartsβ calculations. βTwoβ = No. 1 on Global 200 BTSβ βTake Twoβ blasts in at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, with 60.2 million streams and 64,000 sold worldwide from its release June 9 through June 15. The song is BTSβ record-padding seventh Global 200 No. 1; Bad Bunny is next with three leaders. Hereβs a recap: βTake Two,β one week at No. 1 to-date, June 24, 2023 βMy Universe,β with Coldplay, one, Oct. 9, 2021 βPermission To Dance,β one, July 24, 2021 βButter,β two weeks, beginning June 5, 2021 βLife Goes On,β one week, Dec. 5, 2020 βSavage Love (Laxed β Siren Beat),β with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo, one, Oct. 17, 2020 βDynamite,β four, beginning Oct. 3, 2020 BTS also becomes the first act to have sent a new song to No. 1 on the Global 200 each year since the chart originated in 2020. (Mariah Carey is the only other act to have led Global 200 lists dated in all four years, thanks to her perennial classic βAll I Want for Christmas Is You.β) βTake Twoβ is a 10th-anniversary nod to BTSβ βsecond chapterβ and an βode to their fans,β according to a statement from HYBE. Even ahead of its commercial release, it topped Billboardβs Hot Trending Songs chart. Eslabon Armada and Peso Plumaβs βElla Baila Solaβ drops to No. 2 on the Global 200, following five weeks at No. 1 starting in April; Yng Lvcas and Peso Plumaβs βLa Bebeβ rebounds 5-3, after reaching No. 2; Miley Cyrusβ βFlowersβ rises 6-4, after 12 weeks at No. 1 starting in January; and Bad Bunnyβs βWhere She Goesβ rebounds 5-4, three weeks after it opened at No. 1. BTS Also βTakeβs Top Spot on Global Excl. U.S. BTSβ βTake Twoβ concurrently debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, with 54.3 million streams and 48,000 sold outside the U.S. June 9-15. As on the Global 200, the track is BTSβ record-extending seventh Global Excl. U.S. No. 1; BLACKPINK follows with three. Hereβs a rundown: βTake Two,β one week at No. 1 to-date, June 24, 2023 βYet To Come,β one, June 25, 2022 βMy Universe,β with Coldplay, one, Oct. 9, 2021 βPermission To Dance,β one, July 24, 2021 βButter,β five weeks, beginning June 5, 2021 βLife Goes On,β one, Dec. 5, 2020 βDynamite,β eight, beginning Oct. 3, 2020 Meanwhile, BTS is the only act to have ranked at No. 1 on Global Excl. U.S. each year since the chart began in 2020. YOASOBIβs βIdolβ holds at No. 2 on Global Excl. U.S., two weeks after it became the first song originally performed in Japanese to top the tally; Yng Lvcas and Peso Plumaβs βLa Bebeβ pushes 5-3, after four weeks at its No. 2 best; Miley Cyrusβ βFlowersβ ascends 6-4, following 13 weeks at No. 1 (tying Harry Stylesβ βAs It Wasβ for the chartβs longest rule); and Fifty Fiftyβs βCupidβ falls 3-5, after two weeks on top starting in May. Elsewhere in the Global Excl. U.S. top 10, Bizarrap and Peso Plumaβs βBzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 55β falls to No. 6, a week after it hit No. 1. The Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (dated June 24, 2023) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (June 21), a day later than usual due to the Juneteenth holiday in the United States yesterday (June 19). For both charts, the top 100 titles are available to all readers on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboardβs subscription-based service. I think it was less anything Debbie did and more the industry shifted - first in '89 with the dance-pop of Janet Jackson and Paula Abdul, and then more signficantly a couple years later with the double whammy of alternative/grunge and gangsta rap/hiphop, which also coincided with Billboard's switch to Soundscan, which showed the performance on the charts of many pop acts of the day to be overstated. Pop music was still big in the early 1990s, though, but it was centered more on the 'divas' than on 'teen pop' or anything similar. In addition to Debbie and Tiffany, we saw New Kids on the Block quickly fall off post-1980s (not to mention Taylor Dayne, Jody Watley, etc who were grouped in as 1980s acts). Mariah Carey and Celine Dion came along and had big success, and of course Whitney, Janet, and Madonna were still going strong so pop wasn't wiped out. As for Debbie specifically, I wonder if the length of "Electric Youth" hurt it. I assume there was a radio edit, but the video (set to the album version) is over 5 minutes long. I can see that impacting airplay. Interestingly, back home in Peru, her sophomore era was even bigger than her debut. Electric Youth was a smash, even bigger than the already big hit LIYE. It reached the top of the main radio and video rankings for a couple of weeks and ended as one of the top 5 hits of the year. The third single, We Could Be Together, was another hit, although less than the first two. No More Rhyme underperformed but even then it was bigger than Shake your love and Staying Together. We even had a 5th single: Shouldβve been the one, which flopped Anything is Possible was seen as a departure into a more mature sound and image (haircut!!) including more sexiness that were seen as reasons / justifications of its floppage back home. Sure, a more typical Debbie ballad, was a minor hit that kept her in radio for longer than the title track.

For "Flowers" to still be top 3, and meanwhile the parent album isn't even top 50 is just... a bit tragic.
They dropped the ball with the rest of the era. Although the album also wasn't really strong/impressive either, I'll have to try to re-listen again eventually.

Just listened through to the whole album yesterday - couple decent songs in the first half but it really runs out of steam very quickly.
