I hope with those huge numbers that Taylor Swift can keep Morgan Wallen out of the top spot for a few weeks.

I would think overall sales. I expected around 700k so 5-600k would be right if it trends up like she typically does, but just 5-600k on vinyl alone seems ludicrous. Midnights did like 575k on vinyl and we remember how insane it opened. Lol

Not just with Swift, but what do fans do when they have vinyls, signed CDs, cassettes, etc? As in, when you buy all formats and versions do they all just sit in a room somewhere? I donโt get it lol. It's the same thing as any collector of any musical artist, film series, books, stamps, whatever. Yes, it sits there. it only confuses jenglisbe when itโs Taylor memorabilia though, which confuses me tbh

I think Taylor is gonna do 1 million + again I think that's very unlikely I don't think she's gonna do more than 300k in streaming units.

You still have CDs let's say she does 100-200k there. Then you have streaming and digital downloads.. also some cassettes. Let's see.

Republic's Taylor Swift will make chart history once again, with Speak Now (Taylor's Version) projected to have the biggest opening for a re-recording and the biggest debut of the year. The 22-track set, including six new releases from Swift's vault, should debut in the 650-700k range. Speak Now (TV) is on pace for 300m+ streams in its opening week. Swift also dominated Spotify's global chart on Friday, controlling the entire Top 10 with new re-recordings. She had 21 of the Top 25 tracks worldwide. In its first day, Speak Now (TV) generated 126m global streams on Spotify. Stay tuned as we continue to monitor more outrageous activity from Swift and her latest album. Now if you'll excuse us, we have to create a GoFundMe to afford Eras Tour tickets. hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=336685&title=NEW-RELEASES%253A-ITS-SPEAK-%2528TV%2529-WEEK-

Huge numbers.. and for a re release. That's crazy. So if its 650-700k does that include streams? Cause they already said yesterdY 500-600k for vinyls.

I think itโll end up over 750k somehow still.
If this can do 700k, then yeah, 1989 TV is basically set to do 1 million+.

I think it will be something like 400-500k vinyl 150-200k CD 200-250k streams 750-950k total
if it gets to the upper bounds, she and her team will probably pull all the stops to get it over 1 million. pretty sure they'll try hard to if they feel they can beat the original Speak Now's opening number

They didnโt specify a vinyl number. This is their official opening week estimate for all units of sale.

HOW DOES SHE KEEP DOING THIS ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ Engaging the fanbase, a compelling "reclaiming my music" narrative, the biggest tour in ages, coming off of a 1.5m on debut album, nostalgia, and more importantly, good music. At this point it would be way more shocking if she somehow tanked. Anything above RED TV is a massive win. And she has no ATW monster single to drive up interest this time.

I am waiting! Very curious about what the vault has for 1989 and reputation.
Debut is gonna feel like a non event in comparison, I have to wonder why she doesn't just drop it already so we can all move on because saving it for last is not gonna do it any favors.

The vault for 1989 is gonna be crazy because she had over 100 songs written for it. Reputation I think we can count on some really dark stuff. I'm very excited for debut to be honest. I'm sure there's some really special songs on there.

I think debut might not be her priority because it is her least popular album by a lot. it's the least urgent to take back ownership of. and she might be anticipating it to be a non event in comparison, and probably doesn't want to slow things down for herself. she doesn't want the narrative around her releases to shift. debut will probably have the least interesting vault tracks, as well.

The hell? Debut is what made her a star. It legged its way to nearly 6 million in pure sales and propelled Fearless to a 600k+ first week.
Yโall are crazy.

I'm legit surprised this will surpass Red, but I suppose it makes sense because this has had more hype behind it for longer. I've been seeing references to Speak Now Taylor's Version everywhere for the past few weeks, from record store social media to memes to posts from restaurants. Taylor really is the moment.

Yโall are crazy. first of all, debut is certainly not what made her a star. it did not have enough pop influences to break her through in other markets and not enough in the US to score her gigantic hits like Fearless did. also, debut is her only album that isn't currently charting on the Billboard 200 at all, when the rest of her albums are all charting in the Top 40. it might have sold many copies over the years, especially having been released at a time when people bought albums, but it's not a record that people are currently listening to. and, this is subjective of course, but most of debut has aged horribly. a good chunk of the album I would consider filler. the public agrees, as half of the songs on the album have yet to surpass 30 million streams on Spotify since they've been made available and the biggest hit has garnered 234 million streams. that is a far cry from Fearless, which is being consumed at a much higher rate. it's not surprising to me that she's choosing to save her least actively consumed album for later. but you can call me crazy for it if you want!

Yeah debut is definitely the least hyped and it makes perfect sense to save for last. debut gave her the hype and fanbase for fearless to propel her to stardom and in return fearless boosted debut sales significantly. However, debut is the album that will benefit the most from a rerecording. You can clearly hear how weak her voice was back then and that the album was recorded on a strict budget. I imagine a rerecording will really boost the streams of some of the very well written songs on the album such as Our Song, Picture to Burn, Should Have Said No, and Cold as You. With Taylor's improved vocals the songs will just sound a lot better so more swifties will give the full album an occasional listen. However, for swifties ,who have been fans since debut/fearless, have a lot of highly anticipated vault tracks for debut. She put out a lot of songs on demo cds before she got signed + songs she performed live but never released + songs she tried to shop around. There were whole trading communities for those songs . Some of fearless vault tracks were actually orginially demoed before debut + several of o.g. fearless songs were also orginially cut from debut. So I don't think the debut rerecording will be a flop but it makes sense to save for last.

I mean, we can debate how well itโs held up, but to deny that this is the album that made her a name is ridiculous. It was in the top ten best-selling albums of 2007 AND 2008. She was everywhere those two years, which is why Fearless had such a big debut. She even broke through to ChR in 2007, at a time when NO Country music was getting spun there. The remixes of TDOMG and Our Song got actual play. She even sent the Beautiful Eyes EP to the top ten on the strength of her hype alone. Youโll find threads on this very board (and youโll probably see my name) where we discussed if her sophomore album would be able to touch the heights of her debutโฆmany doubted she could. I donโt disagree with your point about it not being as well remembered as its successors, but come on. This was a massive album and era, one of the biggest of the decade.
